Agnes remembered that she had carved this secretly when she was a child. Later, Raymond found it, and he secretly teased her about it for a long time.

“It’s still here…” Agnes murmured, gently touching the tree.

She remembered a time when she was little and was bullied by a group of kids. They had stolen her jar of candy.

It was the first time Raymond fought someone for her. A whole group against just him.

Later, the parents of those kids all came looking for trouble, but Raymond took the blame for everything and didn’t mention Agnes at all.

Because of that, he got a beating from his mother.

Agnes was so touched back then that she secretly carved “Agnes & Raymond” on the tree.

Thinking of this, Agnes looked up at Raymond. The scar near his eye was still there, but it was very faint. If you didn’t look closely, you could barely see it.

Raymond turned around and looked at Agnes, who was also looking at him.

When they were kids, Raymond was always shorter than Agnes. Boys usually grow later, so Agnes used to tell him to eat more at home.

Later, when he hit his growth spurt, Raymond suddenly became much taller than her.

With his long legs, he walked fast, and she could never keep up. That’s when he started calling her shortie.

Every time Agnes looked in the mirror, she would look at her legs and mutter to herself, “They aren’t short. They’re super long, okay!”

After not seeing him for a few years, Raymond was now a whole head taller than her.

The first time he held her, her head fit perfectly against his strong chest. It was a perfect height difference.

Raymond brought Agnes to a small street filled with food stalls. This street had existed before, but now it was much bigger.

There were many more snack shops inside, filled with all kinds of things.

Still holding her hand, he led her to a small, plain shop that looked a bit out of place.

Inside, a hunchbacked old woman was busy working.

“Estelle…” Raymond called out softly.

The old woman, who was cutting vegetables, heard him and looked up. She squinted her eyes and looked at Raymond. “You are…”

“I’m Raymond. Do you remember me? I lived across from you. I used to throw rocks at your window when I was a kid.”

The old woman paused for a moment, then excitedly dropped the knife and ran outside, hugging him.

“Raymond! Oh my goodness! You little troublemaker! When did you get back? You’ve grown so much!”

Raymond replied, “I just got back. I came to see you.”

Estelle said, “It’s good you’re back. It’s so good. I haven’t seen you in so long.”
