Love After Leaving: No Regret

Chapter 88 A Reckless Bet

Finished

Ethan gave a dismissive snort. “What? You think I can’t do it? Come on, you’ve known me for years. When have I ever failed to get a girl I wanted?”

Duncan frowned. “I don’t know… that girl doesn’t seem like the others. She feels different.”

Ethan patted his shoulder and advised seriously “You’re inexperienced. Stick with me. I can teach you how to handle women.”

Duncan slapped his hand away. “Yeah, right. You talk big. If you can actually win her over, I’ll be your lackey from now on.”

Ethan tilted his head and grinned. “Oh? Mr. Newton wants to make a bet?”

Duncan sneered inside. This idiot walked right into it.

“Sure,” Duncan said. “It’s been a while since I had some fun. What’s the bet?”

Ethan leaned back casually. “I’ve had my eye on a new convertible. You know I just got a new car not long ago, so my dad won’t let me buy another one anytime soon. So-if I win, if I get that girl, you buy me that car. Deal?”

Duncan raised a brow. “And if you lose?”

Ethan smirked, full of confidence. “Do I look like someone who loses? What’s wrong, Mr. Newton? Can handle losing?”

Duncan chuckled. “Fine. If you get her, and you can prove it with photos and videos, I’ll buy you the car. But if you lose, you stay away from Ms. Geneva.”

Ethan froze for a moment. Geneva Hale was famous for her beauty. She had just returned from studying overseas. Her family, the Hales, was one of the elite in Grandridge. Many rich heirs were trying to win her

over.

Duncan was one of them.

With the power of the Newtons, forming ties with the Hales would be easy.

But Geneva was different. She had her mind. No matter how rich a man was, if she didn’t like him, he had

no chance.

The Hales and the Nolans were close. They hoped their children would spend more time together.

Ethan had been following his parents’ plans. Recently, he had finally made a little progress with Geneva through his smooth talk. Other girls meant nothing to him. But Geneva… she was someone he wanted to

marry.

Duncan liked her too. The two of them had become rivals because of her.

Duncan saw Ethan hesitated. He raised an eyebrow and asked, “What’s wrong? You want to back out now?”

Ethan paused, then his confidence returned. A beautiful woman and a sports car-he wanted both. And in his mind, there was no way he could lose.

“Of course not. A bet it is Let’s get the group to witness it.”

In the Gentlemen Ops group chat, Ethan secretly took a photo of Agnes and sent it.

“Whoa! Who is she? Ethan, you found someone new again?!”

“Man, Ethan really lives up to his reputation. Is she from our school? New student? Wow, she’s gorgeous!”

Ethan typed, “Guys, be my witnesses. Starting today, I’m going after this girl. Duncan and I made a bet. If I win, he buys me a car. If I lose, I give up on Ms. Geneva.”

“Wait, that’s a huge bet! You’re really putting Ms. Geneva on the line?”

“Tsk, tsk, tsk, I’m betting on Ethan. He’s never lost when it comes to girls. Duncan better start picking out that car.”

“Come on, Duncan can afford it. He just wants a shot at Geneva, haha. Man… Geneva, I’m in love with her

too!”

The bell rang, Ethan put away his phone and winked at Duncan. “Watch me,” he said.

He swung his backpack over one shoulder and walked straight toward Agnes. He planned to say hello first, just to make an impression.

But before he could reach her, a voice stopped him at the door. “Hey, Ethan!”

He turned around. A girl in a mini skirt stood there. Her makeup was bold, and she looked angry. Several girls stood behind her.

Ethan frowned slightly. “Lucy, what are you doing here?”

Lucy stormed over and punched his arm. She looked upset, but there was hurt in her eyes too.

“Ethan! Why haven’t you contacted me? Didn’t you say you would? I texted you and called you, but you ignored everything!”
