“So you found another girl already? Trying to dump me? No way!” Lucy snapped.

Ethan frowned. “Alright, alright. I’m busy right now. I’ll talk to you later. Just go home and stop making a

scene.”

Lucy crossed her arms. “No. Right here, right now-you’re going to give me an answer. In front of everyone.”

As she spoke, she grabbed his arm and held on tight.

Ethan glanced up and froze. Agnes was packing her things and heading toward the door.

He didn’t even think. He grabbed Lucy and hurried out of the classroom. There was no way he was letting Agnes see this.

As soon as Agnes stepped out, she saw Neal standing there, waiting for her.

“Neal? What are you doing here?” she asked.

“I heard today was your first day of class,” Neal said. “I wanted to check on you. See if you’re settling in okay.”

Agnes smiled slightly. “That’s really thoughtful, but you could’ve just called. You didn’t have to come all the way here.”

Neal shrugged like it was nothing. “Did you forget? I’m one of the school’s investors. I come here all the time. You’ll be seeing me a lot.”

Agnes paused, a little embarrassed. Right, she had forgotten.

“Hungry?” Neal asked. “I’ll take you to try some of the best food on campus.”

That instantly got her attention. Every school had its own special dishes, and she hadn’t tried anything here yet.

“Sounds good. Lead the way,” she said, then added, “Aren’t you busy today?”

“Not really. Had a few things to handle here anyway,” Neal replied.

In truth, he came just to see her. Being an investor was real, but he rarely showed up.

Neal led her to a small restaurant on campus. They ordered a few house specialties and found a table.

He clearly knew his food. Everything he picked was good. Agnes couldn’t stop praising it.

She was eating happily when she noticed two people walk in. The guy looked familiar.

They sat at the table behind her. The girl looked upset.

It was Ethan and Lucy. Ethan had brought Lucy to the same place. But Agnes had her back to them, so he

“Hey, don’t be mad,” Ethan said with a smile. “I just wanted to treat you to something good. Nothing else. Here, your favorite milkshake.”

Lucy glanced at the drink he handed her and pouted.

“Are you seeing that girl from the other school? Rebecca?”

Ethan hesitated. “No, no. I told you, I’ve just been busy lately.”.

At the next table, Agnes had been eating happily. But the moment she heard the name Rebecca, her fork froze in midair.

Neal noticed right away. “What’s wrong? Don’t like the food? I can order something else.”

Agnes quickly shook her head and made a quiet shh gesture.

She turned slightly to look at the next table. No wonder the guy looked familiar. It was Ethan-the one dating Rebecca.

And he had just denied they were together.

Agnes held back her anger and kept listening.

Lucy’s voice trembled. “Then tell me… what are we?”

Ethan finally looked annoyed. He tossed his spoon aside and frowned.

“What are we? Two people having fun. That’s it.”

Lucy’s eyes turned red. “You jerk! That’s not what you said when you were chasing me!”

Ethan shrugged, like it didn’t matter. Since things were out in the open, he didn’t bother pretending anymore. This was how he always acted after he got what he wanted.

“Lucy, did I ever ask you to be my girlfriend?” he said. “I never said anything like that. We just got along, hung out a few times, and had some meals. Why did you take it so seriously?”
