Bonnie
One month later
“You look incredible, Bon. I’m so incredibly proud and lucky to have you in my life.!. to have you as my mom.”I look at Lottie to see her with the biggest smite en her face while her eyes water, and that in turn sets my waterworks off. “No, stop that now! No water works, please. It will ruin your makeup that I worked so hard on, and I don’t have time to redo it.” Lily walks over to us as she talks, making both of us laugh. If she planned to use those words to make us stop any tears, then it worked.
She walks over to me and gives me the brightest smile. ”
Of course she’s right, but it’s not the time for sentimentality. You can do that at the wedding reception.” She looks between Lottie and me with the biggest smile before stepping back. “Now, I need to go and make sure that everything is still running smoothly. Can I trust the pair of you to refrain from crying until after the I do’s?” We both nod, smiling, which seems to satisfy her as she heads for the door, waving her hand in the air. “Be back soon.”
“I love that girl,” Lottie says the moment the door closes. I nod as I move to face the mirror once more, checking my appearance for what feels like the millionth time in the past thirty minutes. As I look at my reflection, I think back to the moment that Nick asked me to marry him. It was unexpected, unromantic and yet, I wouldn’t change a thing about it. It was raw and real and all I needed.
Of course, I hadn’t long given birth, so any form of celebrating was out of the window, not that I minded.
However, we did have a big family dinner, which for me was perfect. Before that night, I had never experienced a family dinner, and it turned out to be everything that I imagined a family dinner to be, including bickering, banter, and someone getting way too wasted and acting like a fool, making everything laugh so hard it hurt. Yes, that fool was Shane… goodness, I love that guy.
I love all of Nick’s brothers and wouldn’t change anything about them. Although if I could do anything for any of ) them, it would be Robbie. He’s struggling with his mate situation, and there’s not a thing I can do to help him, and it hurts my heart. I shake my head a little as push those thoughts away. I will continue to try and help him every single day, but right now I need to push it to the back of my mind, for a few hours at least and enjoy every second of this day.
“You look beautiful. My dad is one lucky guy.” Lottie says as she comes to stand beside me. “Thank you, sweetheart.
You do too. You are an incredible girl, Lottie, and I’m so proud to have you in my life -” She holds up her hand to stop me from saying anymore. “Stop there before i start bawling and aunt Lily comes after my ass.”
A laugh bursts out of me, but I nod, agreeing with her.
When Wade was born, Lily very quickly assembled herself as his auntie. She made sure to include Lottie in that, too, and I love her for it. I suppose technically she is their aunt as she is Shane’s mate, but | know that even if she wasn’t that she would still take the auntie title and in no way would I stop her, and as always, hearing Lottie call Lily auntie makes my heart skip a beat. They have an incredible bond, and I love watching every moment of it.
“Yeah, she will come after you and then she’ll come after me for making you cry.” She goes to speak but is interrupted by the door opening and Nick’s dads walking in. “Oh goodness, don’t you two look incredible.” His smile is warm and filled with love. That man has been a rock to me since the moment we first met.
He’s been the dad I always wanted, kind and caring, but not afraid to put me in my place if I need it, and this is the reason why I asked him if he would walk me down the aisle. I’ll never forget the moment I asked him he give me the biggest smile while fighting back tears. That was also the day that he informed me that I was no longer allowed to call him by his name. I was only to use the name Dad, and the same went for Nick’s mom too.
Nick didn’t know that I planned on asking his dad to walk me down the aisle, and when he found out, he showed me how much he appreciated it… twice. At first, I didn’t put the pieces together of why he was so grateful, but then it hit me… his sister… his dad wouldn’t get to walk his sister down the aisle, so maybe this meant more to both Nick and his dad than I had ever thought it would.”I’m going to see if Lily needs any help,” Lottie says, bringing my attention back to the room. “Whose got my baby brother?” She asks Dad as she heads towards him.
She is an incredibly proud sister and very rarely uses his name. It’s always my baby brother, and it makes me insanely happy. “He was with your dad when I left them, but I passed Rosie on the way.”
