Chapter 15: Seeking Justice from the Patriarch

Chapter 15: Seeking Justice from the Patriarch

(Thirdperson’s POV)

The grand entrance hall of the Stone Estate fell silent as Livia and Adrian marched in with Caleb and Celine in tow. Caleb limped noticeably, his face contorted in pain with each step. His hand was wrapped in a makeshift bandage, the edges of which revealed angry red scratches beneath.

Livia’s eyes were rimmed with tears, her expression a perfect picture of maternal distress as she approached Patriarch Alaric. Behind her, Celine kept her head bowed, occasionally touching the reddened mark on her cheek with trembling fingers.

Amelia observed the scene with detached amusement. The similarity between Livia and Celine’s performances was uncanny the same quivering lip, the same wounded gaze, even the same way they dabbed at nonexistent tears.

Jaxon and Seraphina exchanged resigned glances. They had clearly witnessed this type of family

drama before.

Livia’s gaze landed on Amelia standing comfortably between Jaxon and Seraphina. Her eyes narrowed at their easy camaraderie, and she deliberately raised her voice.

I see you two still have the heart to laugh and chat with her,she said accusingly to Jaxon and Seraphina. Don’t you know what trouble she’s caused?

Caleb glared at Amelia with undisguised hatred. In response, Amelia’s lips curved into a mocking

smile.

What trouble have I caused?she asked innocently, her eyes dancing with mischief. Please,

enlighten me.

Livia’s face hardened. You dare to ask? You attacked your own brother and sister! You think because everyone pities you, you can do whatever you want? She turned to Patriarch Alaric. Father, you must discipline her properly!

(Amelia’s POV)

I felt Seraphina’s hand close protectively around mine, pulling me closer to her side.

Let’s not jump to conclusions, Seraphina said firmly. We should hear the full story before frightening the child.

A warm feeling spread through my chest at her protective gesture. This was what maternal love

felt like unconditional and instinctive. For a moment, I wished I could have been born as Seraphina’s daughter instead.

Cla

She’s more like a true mother than our birth mother could ever be, Ava whispered in

mind.

Jaxon frowned, his expression serious. I find it hard to believe Amelia would attack anyone without provocation.

Livia pulled Caleb forward dramatically, pointing at his injuries. Look at what she did to my son!

And Celine’s face! She gestured to the red mark on Celine’s cheek. Both attacked by her this

morning!

Seraphina turned to me, her eyes gentle. Amelia, what happened? There wasn’t a trace of

accusation in her voice.

I straightened my shoulders. Yes, I did hit Celine’s face and kick Caleb’s knee. And they deserved.

it.

Livia gasped in outrage. How dare you! What gives you the right to hit my children?

I ignored her, turning instead to Patriarch Alaric. Grandfather, I know hitting others is wrong, but Celine verbally insulted me. As the true daughter of the Stone River Pack Alpha, being humiliated by an adopted daughter warranted a response.”

I gestured toward Caleb. As for him, he was about to attack me first. I kicked his knee in

selfdefense.

Livia immediately jumped in. She’s lying! Celine would never insult anyone. She’s been nothing but welcoming since Amelia arrived.

I turned to Celine with a challenging stare. Do you dare deny that you insulted me?

Celine shook her head tearfully. I didn’t, I swear. This morning, I was leaving The Rosewood Wing

after my

German lesson when I saw Amelia standing outside. I thought she might be interested in learning too, so I sincerely offered to teach her piano and painting.

She dabbed at her eyes with a handkerchief. But she thought I was looking down on her and showing off. She slapped me without warning.Celine raised her hand as if taking an oath. I swear I never meant to insult her.

Livia wrapped an arm around Celine’s shoulders. I believe you, darling. You’ve always been such a good girl.”

She turned to glare at me. This is what happens when someone grows up among rogue wolves- wild and unmanageable. Her accusing gaze shifted to Jaxon and Seraphina. I demand an explanation from both of you.

Patriarch Alaric’s face remained impassive. What exactly do you want, Livia?

Livia nudged Caleb and Celine forward. Let them tell you what they want.”

Celine looked up with tearfilled eyes. I just want Amelia to apologize. That’s enough for me.

Caleb’s expression was harder. I want Amelia to apologize to Celine and sign an agreement allowing Celine to remain in the Stone River Pack.

I couldn’t help but laugh. An apology? That’s the biggest insult you could ask for. You really know how to disgust me, Caleb.

I turned to Patriarch Alaric. I consider myself Jaxon and Seraphina’s daughter now. I don’t want my uncle and aunt to feel morally obligated to me because of blood ties. I’m happy to sign a permanent severance agreement.

Caleb’s lips curled into a cold smile. Who wants to acknowledge a sister like you? Good riddance.

Livia’s eyes narrowed threateningly. Once you sign this agreement, there’s no going back. You’ll regret it.

I smirked. Only fools have regrets.

I turned to Celine, whose face had grown increasingly nervous. You want to know why I hit them? Listen and you’ll understand.”

As Celine’s face paled, I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone, opening the voice recording app.
