Chapter 16: Completely Severing Ties!
(Amelia’s POV)
I pressed play on my phone, and Celine’s voice filled the room. The sweet, gentle facade she always maintained was completely gone, replaced by a cold, cutting tone that made everyone freeze.

“Look at you, standing there like you belong here,” Celine’s recorded voice sneered. “You’re nothing but a wild girl raised in some remote pack. Do you think you can just waltz in and take my place?”
I watched with satisfaction as Celine’s face drained of color. Her eyes darted frantically between my phone and Patriarch Alaric’s increasingly stormy expression.
“Adrian and Livia only brought you back to marry you off to Theodore in my place,” the recording continued viciously. “You’re just a convenient replacement since he’s crippled now. And Seraphina and Jaxon? They only want you for your Stone bloodline. They’re using you to reclaim inheritance rights.”
I deliberately increased the volume at the mention of inheritance rights, watching Patriarch Alaric’s face darken dangerously. If there was one thing a powerful patriarch like him couldn’t tolerate, it was people plotting for his power while he was still alive.
“While you were busy digging in dirt and washing clothes in that pathetic little pack, I was raised in
The Rosewood Wing learning real skills. Piano, painting, chess, calligraphy, and five foreign languages. What can you do besides farm work and cooking?”
Celine stood frozen, her mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. The perfect mask she’d worn had shattered completely, revealing the vicious creature beneath.
Adrian and Livia exchanged panicked glances. I could practically see them cursing their adopted daughter for mentioning family assets in front of the patriarch.
Patriarch Alaric’s knuckles turned white around his walking stick. “So, Celine,” he said, his voice dangerously quiet, “you’ve been planning for Adrian to inherit the pack while I’m still breathing?”
Celine immediately burst into tears. “No, Grandfather, that’s not what I meant-”
“Don’t call me Grandfather,” Alaric cut her off sharply. “The recording speaks for itself.”
“She was insulting me first!” Celine cried desperately. “I couldn’t take it anymore and said things I
didn’t mean!”

Caleb stepped forward, his face a mixture of disbelief and loyalty. “I can’t believe my sister would say such things unprovoked. Amelia must have pushed her to the breaking point.”
I gave Caleb my middle finger for the second time that day. “You brainless idiot.”
“Amelia is right,” Patriarch Alaric said, turning his stern gaze on Caleb. “You need to be taught a
lesson to wake up.”
I smiled sweetly at Alaric. “Grandfather, Celine didn’t just insult me. She also said Adrian and Livia brought me back for inheritance purposes. I wonder where she got that idea from? Perhaps from
her mother?”
Adrian’s eyes flashed dangerously at me. I pretended to be frightened, shrinking back into Seraphina’s embrace.
“Let them see who the real hunter is,” Ava whispered in my mind, her voice cold with amusement.
Seraphina’s arms tightened protectively around me. “It’s clear that Celine provoked Amelia first,” she said firmly. “Her words were deliberately cruel.”
Jaxon’s face was like stone as he addressed the room. “My wife and I genuinely care for Amelia. We’re not interested in inheritance rights.”
Seraphina’s eyes narrowed at Adrian and Livia. “Is it true what Celine said? That you brought Amelia back to marry her off to Theodore in Celine’s place?”
Patriarch Alaric’s expression grew even darker. “Answer the question, Adrian.”
Adrian quickly shook his head. “Of course not! We only just discovered Amelia was our daughter. How could we have arranged such a thing in advance?”
Celine stepped forward, her face a perfect picture of contrition. “It’s my fault. I said those things because I was desperate to stay. Amelia doesn’t want me here, and I was afraid.”
Patriarch Alaric turned his fierce gaze on Adrian and Livia. “You need to control your adopted daughter better. And don’t call me for trivial matters like this again without understanding the situation first.”
Adrian nodded quickly. “We’ll discipline Celine and Caleb properly.”
Livia couldn’t hide her resentment. “I never expected my own daughter to be so cunning, recording conversations and setting traps for us.”
I stepped out of Seraphina’s embrace, facing Patriarch Alaric directly. “Grandfather, this matter can’t just end here. Uncle and Aunt brought people here in anger and scared me terribly.”
Alaric nodded firmly. “All four of you will apologize to Amelia immediately.”

Caleb’s face contorted with indignation. “Even if we were wrong first, she shouldn’t have hit us!”
Patriarch Alaric raised his walking stick threateningly. Livia quickly grabbed Caleb’s arm, whispering urgently in his ear.
One by one, Celine, Livia, and Adrian offered their apologies. Caleb finally muttered a reluctant “Sorry” through gritted teeth.
I smiled graciously. “Since you’ve apologized, I won’t hold this against you. But as we discussed earlier, I want to sign that agreement completely severing our relationship.”
Ava purred with satisfaction in my mind. The trap had been sprung perfectly, and our enemies had walked right into it.
