Chapter 153: The Auction House Encounter
Chapter 153: The Auction House Encounter
(Amelia’s POV)
“Amelia Stone, stop this instant! I told you to leave, don’t push your luck!” Matriarch Octavia’s voice boomed through the hall, carrying an undeniable weight of authority.
I froze. My hand was still raised, ready for another strike. I dropped my arm and shook out my stinging palm, looking at the old woman with innocent eyes.
“I wanted to leave,” I said, shrugging helplessly. “But your son insisted I stay. He wouldn’t let me walk out the door. I was just defending myself.”
Seraphina stood up gracefully from her chair. She smoothed her dress and nodded politely to Octavia, signaling our departure.
Carlos opened his mouth to shout something, blood dripping from his split lip.
“Shut up!” Octavia barked at him, her cane slamming onto the floor. “Do you think you haven’t lost enough face today? Or is your skin so thick you want another beating?”
Carlos snapped his mouth shut. He glared at me with pure venom, his eyes promising revenge, but he didn’t dare defy his mother.
I smirked at him one last time, turned on my heel, and walked out.
Having achieved my goal, Mom and I left the Drake Pack House in high spirits. The drive was smooth. I pulled up to the gate of the West House but kept the engine running.
“I’m not coming in yet,” I told Seraphina. “I need to go to the auction house downtown. I have some business to handle. And I think it’s time Ethan and Celine learned a lesson.”
Seraphina nodded, understanding flashing in her eyes. She reached into her designer handbag.
She pulled out a sleek, black metal card and pressed it into my hand.
“Take this,” she said softly. “Your father Jaxon prepared it for you. It has no limit.”
I looked down at the black gold card. It was heavy and cool to the touch.
“If you see anything you like at the auction, buy it,” she urged gently. “Don’t worry about the
cost.”

I smiled, tucking the card away. As the Shadow Healer, I had plenty of money in my own accounts. But this was different. This was a gift from parents who genuinely cared. It felt warm. It felt like I finally had a home where I belonged.
“Thanks, Mom,” I said.
Seraphina beamed, looking relieved to see me happy.
Inside my head, Ava rolled over in delight, her tail thumping against my mind.
*“This is what it feels to be accepted by a Pack, Amelia,” she purred. *“That card smells like the sweet scent of freedom.“*
(Jaxon’s POV)
The phone in my hand felt small against my palm. Seraphina’s voice was shaking on the other end.
“Jaxon, it was chaos,” she stammered, her words tumbling out. “Amelia… she hit him. She beat Carlos right in front of everyone at the banquet.”
I could hear the fear in her breath. She was terrified for our daughter. She knew Carlos. He was a vindictive snake who would never let an insult go, especially not from a young she–wolf who had shattered his Alpha pride publicly.
I tightened my grip on the receiver, my knuckles turning white. But when I spoke, my voice was low and steady, smooth like a cello. I needed to be her anchor.
“Calm down, Seraphina,” I said gently. “I know who Carlos is. And I know what he will try to
do.”
“But Amelia-”
“She is safe,” I promised, my tone deepening into a vow. “I prepared for this before she even stepped foot in that wolf’s den. I have a net waiting for anyone who tries to touch her.”
I heard her breathing slow down. She trusted me.
“Okay,” she whispered.
I hung up the phone. The warmth left my face instantly. My expression turned cold and clinical.
I turned around. I was in the deepest part of my private lab at Umbra Analytics. In the shadows, a large vertical cryo–chamber stood silent.

I walked up to the pod and placed my palm on the bio–scanner.

The hydraulic seals released. Cold white mist poured out onto the floor as the heavy metal doors slid open.
Inside stood Unit–001.
It wasn’t just a machine. It was a masterpiece of lethal engineering–a towering humanoid frame built from top–tier alloy, woven with synthetic werewolf muscle fibers.
Its optical sensors flared to life. They glowed with a chilling blue light, emitting a suffocating
pressure.
This was twenty years of my life. I had stayed away from the pack’s power struggles for this.
I didn’t just upload a photo. I accessed the interface and uploaded Amelia’s unique pheromone signature and her DNA sequence directly into its core tracking system.
“System check,” I commanded.
“Directives confirmed,” a voice replied. It was synthetic, cold, yet it carried a low growl like a beast. “Target: Amelia Stone. Mission: Absolute Protection.”
I looked at the machine. To the outside world, I sold the inferior versions as “home
assistants.”
But I had stripped this one. I removed the moral inhibitors. I deleted the laws that prevented it from using lethal force.
“Good,” I said, a cruel smile touching my lips.
Unit–001 was stronger than an S–rank Alpha. In this dog–eat–dog world, to keep Seraphina calm and my daughter safe, I didn’t mind unleashing a monster.
(Amelia’s POV)
I checked the GPS location and drove to pick up Natasha Crimson. I dialed her number.
“I’m here,” I said.
“Coming!” she squealed.
Three minutes later, she came running out of her building, breathless and grinning. She

“Amelia,” she asked, pointing carefully at the seat. “Can I sit here? This isn’t, like, Theodore’s reserved seat or something, is it?”
I laughed and shook my head. “No, there’s no such rule. Mom was just sitting there. Get in.”
“Oh, good. I didn’t want to upset the Alpha King’s heir.”
She hopped in and buckled up.
As I drove, I could feel her staring at me. I glanced over. She was looking at me with wide, dreamy eyes, watching my hand on the steering wheel.
“What?” I asked.
“You’re just so cool,” she sighed. “Seriously.”
We pulled up to the auction house entrance. Valets were running back and forth.
“So, what are we buying today?” Natasha asked excitedly as we got out.
“I’m actually a seller today,” I said with a mysterious smile. “But if I see something good, I’ll grab it.”
Natasha’s eyes lit up. “You’re a seller too? Is there anything you can’t do?”
“Plenty,” I said.
“I doubt it,” she said. “You know, I don’t praise just anyone. I only praise you and Theodore.”
She walked beside me, her voice confident.
“Honestly,” she continued, “you and Theodore are a match made in heaven. It’s way better than him being with that fake, whiny Celine.”
We walked through the grand doors into the lobby, chatting as we headed toward the circular hallway leading to the VIP boxes.
Just as Natasha finished her sentence about us being a perfect match, two figures stepped into our path.
I stopped.
It was Ethan and Celine.
They had heard every word.

Ethan looked sharp in his tailored suit, but his face twisted in disgust when he saw me. He looked at me like I was dirt.
Celine stood beside him. Her face darkened instantly, shifting into her usual victim mask.
She took a step forward, her voice trembling with fake outrage.
“Amelia,” she hissed. “So this is what you do? You go around town spreading lies and badmouthing me to everyone behind my back?”
