Amelia leaned lazily against the doorframe, her posture relaxed. She twirled a long, thin silver needle between her slender fingers, watching the chaotic scene before her like she was viewing a boring soap opera.
Alaric looked at his weeping daughter, Lyra, with cold, pitiless eyes.
“Stop crying,” Alaric said flatly. “When you married into the Drake family, I gave you twenty million in assets. I funded that boutique fashion label you insisted on starting.”
Lyra sniffled, wiping her eyes. “The market was bad! It wasn’t my fault!”
“You ran it into the ground,” Alaric countered sharply. “You spent the capital on luxury vacations and jewelry. You ignored the business. That failure is on you.”
Amelia watched, amused. To Alaric, children were merely investments. If the return on investment was low, he cut his losses without hesitation. Amelia knew she was different. She wasn’t looking for his approval. She was the highest–risk venture capital he would ever encounter.
Lyra’s face flushed red with humiliation. “Is that all am to you? A balance sheet? I am your biological daughter! Do I only deserve that pittance?”
“You have lived a life of luxury provided by this Pack” Alaric said, his voice hard. “You have contributed nothing. You only take. Do not expect more.”
Lyra screamed, pointing a shaking finger at him. “Fine! You are heartless! When you rot in the ground, don’t expect me to be at your funeral!”

Alaric shrugged, indifferent. “I on you anyway.”
“I am done!” Lyra shouted. “I am cutting all ties with the Stone family! You give the Pack to this…
this bastard? You will regret it! I will watch you ruin everything from the outside!”
She glared at Amelia with pure venom.
Amelia didn’t speak. She just smirked, the corner of her mouth lifting in a highly ironic curve. It was
a look of silent pity. *You aren’t even worth my anger.*
Lyra stormed out of the house. The Stone family’s internal war settled into a tense silence. The
members of the Drake family watched, ready to mock the broken pack.
Amelia straightened up. She pushed off the doorframe and turned to Alaric, her voice changing. It wasn’t the voice of a discarded daughter. It was the voice of an Alpha.

“Don’t worry,” Amelia said clearly. “I will make the Stone River Pack stronger than it has ever been. We will surpass the Drake Pack.”
Matriarch Octavia let out a harsh, screeching laugh. “Amelia, you are d
Amelia didn’t get angry. Instead, she started walking toward Octavia. St ep, she closed the distance until she invaded the older woman’s personal space. A suffocating pressure radiated
from her, making the air heavy.
“Octavia,” Amelia said, her voice low and dangerous. “I didn’t just predict Adrian’s destruction.”
She leaned in closer, her sapphire eyes flashing. “I wrote the script. I directed the play. I even sold the tickets to his funeral. As for apologizing to your useless son? Hunters never apologize to their
prey.”
Octavia’s mouth opened, but no words came out. The sheer force of Amelia’s presence crushed her arguments. Her face turned a sickly shade of grey.
Griffin Drake stood behind his grandmother, staring at Amelia. The contempt in his eyes was gone, replaced by fear and a twisted kind of excitement. He finally understood why Theodore Crimson wanted her. This woman was a lunatic too. She possessed a formidable presence that made his
wolf whimper.
“Let’s go,” Octavia choked out. The Drake family turned and left, taking their humiliation with them. The room was finally clear of outsiders. Amelia clapped her hands together.
“Alright,” she said, turning her gaze to the corner where Adrian, Livia, Ethan, and Celine were huddled. “Looks like we have some housekeeping to do.”
Adrian flinched. Celine looked at Amelia with terror certain she was about to be punished.
Amelia walked over to them. “I can fix your face, Celine. I can clear the to
Celine blinked, confused. “What?”
“Let her do it,” Ethan urged quietly. “She is the Shadow Healer. She can fix you.”
Celine trembled but agreed. Amelia reached into her bag. She didn’t pull out the silver needles she had been playing with earlier. Silver was poison to wolves, and she didn’t want to kill this little lab rat just yet. She produced a set of thin, black obsidian needles.
Amelia moved with practiced speed. She applied a pungent herbal paste to Celine’s face and drove the obsidian needles into key pressure points. She worked with a casual cruelty, treating Celine like a broken doll she was repairing just to prove she could.
Minutes later, the redness on Celine’s face began to fade. The swelling went down visibly.
Natasha, standing near the door, frowned. “Why is she saving the enemy?”

Amelia pulled the needles out. She wiped them on a cloth and looked at Ethan. “Ethan,” she asked softly. “Do you really think she is worth the price?”
Ethan froze, not understanding her meaning.
Amelia didn’t wait for an answer. She turned on her heel and walked to the sofa where Caleb lay
unconscious.
Celine’s heart started to pound. *No. He can’t wake up. I gave him the strongest neurotoxin on the
black market.*
Amelia stood over Caleb. Her fingers found a specific cluster of nerves on his neck. She pressed
down hard.
Everyone held their breath. One minute passed. Caleb didn’t move.
Livia exploded, unable to take the tension. “You vicious wretch! Are you mocking us? He isn’t waking up! Stop playing games!”
Celine let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. *It worked. The poison is too strong.*
Just as she relaxed, Caleb’s body jerked violently on the sofa. His chest heaved.
“Cough…”
A raspy, dry sound tore from his throat.
“Cough… cough!”
