Chapter 215: Cheap Atonement
Chapter 215: Cheap Atonement
(Caleb’s POV)
I slammed my foot on the gas pedal and glanced back at Ethan in the rearview mirror.
Clim
He was curled up in the back seat, his body convulsing with pain. Black–red blood kept trickling from the corner of his mouth.
“Hold on,” I said desperately. “We’ll be at the Pack House soon. Amelia will help. She has to.”
Noah whimpered in my mind. *She won’t. Why would she?*
I ignored him.
Thirty minutes later, I pulled up to the gates of the Stone River Pack House. I killed the engine and scrambled out, hauling Ethan onto my back.
His weight felt like nothing compared to the crushing guilt in my chest.
I staggered toward the iron gates and pounded on them with my free hand.
“Open up!” I shouted. “Please! My brother needs help!”
Two guards appeared on the other side. They recognized me immediately. Their expressions didn’t change.
“No entry,” one of them said flatly.
“What?” I stared at him in disbelief. “This is my family’s Pack House!”
“Not anymore,” the other guard replied. “Alpha Alaric’s orders. You and your access rights when you moved out.”
I kicked the gate hard. The metal rattled but didn’t budge.
“My brother is dying!” I roared. “Let us in!”
surrendered all
The first guard shook his head. “Without permission from Alpha Alaric or Miss Amelia, no one
enters. Those are the rules.”
I kicked the gate again. And again.
Ethan groaned weakly on my back. His grip on my shoulders was getting weaker.
“Please,” I begged. “Just call someone. Anyone. Tell them we’re here.”
The guards exchanged glances but didn’t move.

Chapter 215. Cheap Atonement
They just stood there, stone–faced and immovable.
I stumbled back to the car and carefully lowered Ethan into the back seat.
My hands were shaking as I pulled out my phone.
I had to call Amelia. She was the only one who could save him.
My finger hovered over the screen.
Then I froze.
I didn’t have her number.
The realization hit me like a punch to the gut.
I’d never saved my own sister’s contact information. Not once in all these months.
Noah howled miserably in my mind. *What kind of brother are you?*
“Shut up,” I muttered.

I grabbed Ethan’s phone from his jacket pocket and unlocked it. My hands fumbled as I scrolled through his contacts.
There. Amelia’s name.
I pressed call and held the phone to my ear.
It rang once. Twice.
Then I heard the automated message. “The number you are trying to reach has blocked this caller.”
I tried again.
Same result.
She’d blocked us both.
I dropped the phone and buried my face in my hands.
This was our fault. All of it.
Ethan coughed violently behind me. A spray of black blood hit the back of my seat.
I whipped around. His eyes had rolled back in his head. His breathing was shallow and erratic.
“Ethan!” I shook him. “Stay with me!”
He didn’t respond.
Noah was howling nonstop now. *Do something! He’s dying!*
I yanked the car into gear and peeled away from the Pack House.

(Amelia’s POV)
I woke the next morning to sunlight streaming through my bedroom window.
Theodore had left early for a meeting at Crimson Group. The bed beside me was still warm.
I reached for my phone and checked the news.
Griffin’s scandal had been scrubbed from the major outlets overnight. The Drake family’s PR machine was working overtime.
But something else had taken its place.
A trending post about me and Caleb.
I clicked on it.
The image showed Caleb standing outside the Pack House gates late last night. His face was haggard and desperate. The caption read: “A brother’s plea for forgiveness.”
Below it was a long statement written in formal werewolf script.
A Blood Oath of Atonement.
I read through it slowly.
Caleb confessed to sabotaging my car. He admitted to nearly killing me. He swore on his wolf’s life that he would spend the rest of his days atoning for his sins.
In werewolf society, Blood Oaths were binding. Breaking one meant death

Some people were calling him brave for owning his mistakes. Others said I should forgive him and let the family heal.
A few even blamed Celine for manipulating him.
I set the phone down and laughed coldly.
Ava snarled in my mind. *Pathetic.*
“Agreed,” I murmured.
This wasn’t atonement. It was manipulation.

Caleb was using public sympathy to pressure me into forgiving him. He was betting that I’d cave under the weight of werewolf tradition and family expectations.
He was wrong.
I went downstairs for breakfast.
Seraphina was already at the table, reading the same post on her tablet. She looked up when I
entered.
“Have you seen this?” she asked carefully.
“I have.”
She frowned. “Some people are saying you should give him another chance.”
Jaxon walked in carrying a cup of coffee. “Some people are idiots.”
He sat down beside me. “Adrian’s family is using this to worm their way back into the Pack House.
Don’t fall for it.”
I poured myself tea. “I won’t.”
Seraphina looked relieved. “What will you do?”
I took a sip and considered my answer.
“I’ve changed my mind,” I said slowly. “I’m not going to terminate Caleb’s contract with Starlight Entertainment.”
Both of them looked surprised.
“Instead,” I continued, “I’m going to bury him.”
Jaxon raised an eyebrow. “Explain.”
“As his boss, I have the authority to decide which projects he works on,” i doesn’t work on any.”
So I’ll make sure he
I set my cup down. “No roles. No appearances. No income. I’ll keep him locked in that contract until he’s completely forgotten. Until he fades into nothing.”
Ava purred with satisfaction. *Perfect.*
Seraphina’s expression was complicated. “That’s… harsh.”
“He tried to kill me,” I reminded her. “This is mercy.”
Jaxon nodded approvingly. “Agreed.”
We finished breakfast in silence.

After breakfast, I grabbed my car keys and headed out.
I had a meeting with Berry and the *Cloudward* production team this morning. We
finalize the marketing strategy.
I pulled out of the driveway and turned onto the main road.
Suddenly, a figure darted out in front of my car.
I slammed on the brakes.
The car screeched to a halt inches from him.
It was Caleb.
Claun
He looked even worse than in the photo. His face was covered in stubble. His eyes were bloodshot and hollow. He was clutching a paper bag in one hand.
I rolled down the window. “Move.”
“Wait,” he said hoarsely. “Please.”
He stepped closer and held out the bag. “I brought you breakfast. I remembered you used to like
these pastries.”
I stared at him.
Then I laughed.
“I already ate,” I said coldly. “And even if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t touch anything from you.”
His hand trembled. “Amelia, please-”
“Your cheap gestures disgust me,” I cut him off. “Just like your pathetic social media post. Did you really think a Blood Oath would make me forgive you?”
Caleb’s face crumpled. “I know I don’t deserve forgiveness. But Ethan-”
“Don’t,” I warned.
He ignored me. “Ethan is dying. The poison you gave him is tearing him apart. He can barely breathe. Please, I’m begging you. Give him the antidote.”
I felt nothing.
“He had his chance,” I said. “He chose to give the antidote to Celine instead. That was his decision.”
Caleb’s eyes filled with desperation. “Then give it to me.”
I blinked. “What?”
“Poison me instead,” he said quickly. “I’ll take his place. I’ll suffer for him. Just please, save him.”

I stared at him for a long moment.
Then I smiled.
“You’re even worse than Ethan,” I said softly.
Caleb flinched.
“You sabotaged my brakes,” I continued. “If I hadn’t been strong enough, I would’ve died in that crash. Compared to what you tried to do to me, your current suffering is nothing.”
His face went pale.
Claim
“The only reason you’re even awake right now,” I said, “is because I wanted you to see Celine’s true nature. To watch her abandon you.”
A flicker of hope appeared in his eyes. “So you’ll trade? My life for his?”
I let the silence stretch.
Then I said one word.
“No.”
