Chapter 286: The Audition
Chapter 286: The Audition
(Amelia’s POV)
I held the phone to my ear, listening as Liam mentioned a familiar name on the other end.
“Of course, I remember him,” I replied, my voice calm but my mind racing. “He was one of the
candidates for the male lead in Gale Entertainment’s project.”
In fact, I knew exactly why Jasper had been shut out by Gale Entertainment. It was entirely because I had hinted to Jade behind the scenes to pull some strings. I knew very well that Gale
Entertainment’s new show was destined to be a disaster from the start. If Jasper had actually
been chosen by them, that doomed project would have only dragged him into the mud, ruining his
potential before he even had a chance to shine.
Liam explained the situation further. “It’s precisely because he was rejected over there that he called me yesterday. He wants to fight for an audition for the main villain role in *Treatment Diary**
A pang of guilt surged in my heart.
At the end of the day, Jasper was a casualty in my chess game against Griffin. He was an innocent pawn I had maneuvered to ensure my enemy’s failure.
I made a silent calculation in my mind. As long as Jasper was willing, I would consider him for the male lead in Starlight Entertainment’s next major project. I would treat it as my compensation to
him for this initial setback.
“Although he has been in the industry for less than two years and is still considered a newcomer, I’ve seen his previous work,” Liam admitted honestly. “Compared to Yves, Jasper’s acting clearly has more soul and depth. So I decided to give him this chance.”
I smiled, appreciating Liam’s professional eye. “You have full authority over casting matters. As long as you are satisfied, I have no objections.”
“But I am still a bit worried,” Liam hesitated, his voice dropping slightly. “Jasper, like Wayne, carries a lot of negative news. I know Wayne’s character, but I don’t know Jasper personally. I worry that he is only settling for second best because he was eliminated by the competition.”
“Don’t worry,” I immediately dispelled his concerns. I had Silas investigate him thoroughly. Those so–called black marks and scandals are all smears orchestrated by others. He has no issues personally. Choosing him won’t bring any trouble to the Pack.”
Liam let out a sigh of relief on the other end. “That’s good to hear. If he passes the audition, I will cast him directly. By the way, do you want to come and see the audition?”

I thought about the villain character in the original book. The role required a complexity and charm. that was no less demanding than the protagonist’s.
“Okay, I’ll come to watch the audition at eleven.”
After hanging up the phone, Ava paced excitedly in my mind.
“Go see that wolf pup,” she urged, her tail flicking with unusual interest. “I always feel a scent on him that makes me feel close, even though it is very faint.”

At ten–thirty, I arrived at the hotel conference floor where Liam had arranged the auditions.
The long benches in the corridor were filled with young men waiting for their turn. Most of them were handsome, possessing that sharp attractiveness common in the werewolf entertainment circle. These people were focused on chatting among themselves, too absorbed in their own. nerves and gossip to notice my arrival.
The three male actors closest to me were whispering, their heads bent together.
“Did you hear? Jasper is here too.”
“That madman? He carries black marks for beating a director and is effectively in a state of being soft–banned. He was brushed off by Gale Entertainment like trash, yet he still dares to come to Starlight Entertainment to try his luck?”
“He probably doesn’t understand the hostile relationship between these two Packs. He’s desperate.”
My gaze cut through the crowd, ignoring their idle chatter. It landed on the young man sitting alone at the very end of the hallway.
He seemed completely isolated from the noisy world around him.
In this snowy November, he was wearing a dark grey double–breasted wool coat. Although the fabric looked a bit old and worn, the tailoring was excellent, making him look exceptionally sharp and clean. There was a resilience in this man that transcended his age, a stubborn refusal to admit defeat radiating from his posture.
He turned a deaf ear to the criticism and whispers around him. He simply kept his head down, focused intently on reading the book in his hands–it was the original novel I had written.
As I approached, the people around finally recognized me.
“Alpha Amelia is here.”
Everyone stood up in a flurry to greet me, awed by my presence. Hearing the commotion, Jasper, who had been burying his head in the book, finally looked up.

His line of sight collided squarely with mine
His movements paused noticeably. A trace of surge fleshed in those sightly dull eyes, which seerned to hold a hidden depth. However, he quickly moved his gaze away, as if he was worried this stare would be perceived as offensive
His Adam’s apple bobbed nervously
“Alpha Amelia,” he called out, his voice polite and exercised with great restraint
I didn’t pay much attention to his stiffness. I simply nodded coolly in response and walked into the interview room without any expression on my face
Inside the interview room, Liam saw me enter and quickly stood up from behind the table.
“You’re half an hour early, Liam remarked with a smile
Besides him, there was an assistant director sitting at the table.
‘Since I’m here, I want to see a few more people’s performances,” I said, pulling out a chair and sitting down next to him. “Only by having a comparison with others can Jasper’s superiority be shown
Liam handed me a file containing Jasper’s information. Then, the two of us began to watch the line readings of the first few actors.
After watching five people audition, the sixth turn finally fell to Jasper.
He walked into the room, his demeanor shifting into professional focus. His gaze quickly swept over the three of us seated at the table. When he saw me, he paused slightly, but he quickly moved his eyes to Liam in the center
1am Jasper. I am auditioning for the role of Malachi,”
As soon as his voice fell, the assistant director beside Liam frowned deeply. He turned his head and questioned Liam directly, not bothering to lower his voice.
“Liam, why did you let him come to the audition? His reputation in the circle is not good. Not only are there rumors of violent tendencies, but he also offended big shots.”
Hearing these harsh words, Jasper’s hands, which had been relaxed at his sides, clenched unconsciously. His knuckles turned white from the force, but he still straightened his spine. He pressed his lips together tightly, standing there without saying a word, waiting for a response.
Before Liam could explain, I spoke up first.
1 agreed to let Jasper come for the audition.”

Jasper looked up at me abruptly in surprise. A flash of disbelief crossed his eyes, followed quickly by a look of intense gratitude that he couldn’t quite hide. He forced himself to remain calm, but the tension in his shoulders eased slightly,
The assistant director was obviously very surprised by my words. He opened his mouth, seerningly wanting to refute something about risk control or public image. But when he met my cold, unyielding gaze, he realized his place and wisely closed his mouth.
I sneered internally, I was not only the main investor of this drama but also the acting Alpha. In this room, my word was the law.
Liam broke the awkward atmosphere. He turned to me with a respectful suggestion.
“Amelia, since he is the one you are optimistic about, how about you choose Jasper’s audition
scene?”
