Outside a high–end modeling agency named “Gilded Cage” in Northgate, a black sedan sat parked
in the shadows.
Inside the car, Marcus pressed an earpiece tightly against his ear. His expression was solemn and
cold.
Through the listening device, the voice of Glenda–known in the underworld as the “Tooth Fairy“-came through clearly. She was currently brainwashing Celine.
“Celine, listen close,” Glenda’s voice carried a raspy greed that made one’s skin crawl. “I need you to find two new faces this month. They need to be young, and they need to be pretty.”
There was a pause, followed by the sound of a lighter clicking.
“It’s best if you go to those remote Pack territories or small towns outside of Northgate,” Glenda continued. “Those simple small–town girls are the easiest to handle. You just show them a little bit of the big city’s glitz and glamour, and they get dizzy. They’ll do anything to stay.”
Celine’s voice responded immediately. It sounded filled with eager submission, laced with a trace
of madness.
“Don’t worry, Glenda. I will never let Griffin down,” Celine said breathlessly. “This is my chance to turn things around… Even if it’s just to make that woman Amelia pay the price, I will definitely do it.”
Marcus’s eyes narrowed as he recorded the incriminating conversation.
Suddenly, the door to the agency burst open. An agency staff member ran out in a panic, shouting toward Glenda’s location.
“Bad news! That new girl took advantage of the chaos and ran away!”
A string of vicious curses from Glenda exploded in Marcus’s ear.
He looked up to see a woman in a flashy coat storm out of the building and dive into her car.
Marcus started his engine instantly. He followed them silently, merging into the traffic like a ghost.
Glenda drove like a maniac, weaving through the streets.
Finally, she cornered the fleeing girl in a desolate dead–end alley.
Glenda slammed on her brakes and jumped out.
“You ungrateful brat!” Glenda screamed, rushing forward.

She slapped the girl across the face with brutal fores, spittle flying from her mouth. “I gave you a chance to serve important figures, a golden opportunity, and you dare to run?
The girl was knocked to the ground. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
Instead of crying, the girl let out a sound that was close to hysterical laughter. She looked up with wild, defiant eyes,
“That kind of filthy ‘golden opportunity?” The girl spot blood on the ground. “You can keep it for
yourself!”
“You little bitch!” Glenda roared, exasperated and furious.
She grabbed the girl’s hair violently, preparing to smash her head against the brick wall.
A screech of tires pierced the air,
Marcus slammed his car door open and strode toward them with terrifying speed.
The girl on the ground saw him. She suddenly burst into loud laughter, pointing a shaking finger at
Glenda,
“You vile hag! You’re dead! You are so dead!”
Glenda sneered and turned around. She looked at the approaching Marcus and scoffed.
Relying on her experience in the streets, she let out a strange cry and launched an attack.
She threw a punch aimed at Marcus’s throat.
But her undisciplined flailing was like a joke before the calm, combat–hardened Beta.
Marcus didn’t even blink. He reached out with one hand and caught her fist mid–air.
*Crack.*
The sound of bones fracturing was crisp and loud in the quiet alley.
“Ahhh!” Glenda shrieked.
Before she could recover, Marcus swung his backhand.
He struck her squarely in the face with immense force.
Glenda screamed again as her head snapped back. Two of her proud gold teeth, mixed with blood
and saliva, flew out of her mouth and clattered onto the pavement.
She collapsed, clutching her face and howling in pain.
Marcus looked down at her coldly. He signaled to his subordinates who had just arrived.
“Drag her into the car,” he ordered.

As the men hauled the wailing woman away, Marcus turned to the frightened girl on the ground.
His expression softened slightly. “It’s over now. I will arrange for you to leave Northgate. You’ll be sent to a safe place to work.”

It was noon when Amelia finished organizing the file on Jasper.
She took a deep breath, clutching the documents tightly. The conjecture in her heart was growing stronger by the minute, and she needed to verify it immediately.
She walked quickly to the CEO’s office to find Theodore.
She pushed open the heavy double doors. The scene inside made her pause in her tracks.
There was no business meeting in progress.
Instead, a woman in a gaudy leopard–print coat was tied up and dumped unceremoniously on the expensive carpet. She looked utterly wretched, with blood still wet at the corner of her mouth. Theodore sat behind his massive desk. His expression was indifferent, his eyes cold as ice.
“She is Glenda,” Theodore said flatly, as if the person on the floor was nothing more than a bag of
trash.
Amelia looked at the woman. Her mind raced, connecting the dots.
She recalled the connection between Griffin and this woman, and a name Theron had once mentioned in passing.
Amelia’s eyes sharpened. “Glenda… This name reminds me of that notorious human trafficker–The Hag.”
The woman on the floor, Glenda, suddenly jerked her head up.
Her face twisted in shock and horror. She screamed, her voice trembling with fear. “You know my mother?!”
Theodore slowly stood up from his chair.
He walked around the desk, his imposing aura filling the room. He looked down at her with a gaze that pierced through her soul.
“Not only do I know her,” Theodore said, his voice dropping to a terrifying low. “We have a deep–seated blood feud.”
Glenda’s eyes widened to the size of saucers. She looked at the powerful man before her in disbelief.
“How could a noble, high–ranking Alpha like you have a feud with someone like my mother over

“Twenty two years ago, he began, every word hitting like a heavy hammer, “Did your mother buy a pup that had just been born?”
Hearing the specific time frame of “twenty–two years ago, Glenda’s body shuddered violently.
All the color drained from her face instantly, leaving her pale as a sheet,
Theodore pressed on, his voice merciless as he revealed the cruel truth.
“The pup that was bought… was my biological brother.”
Glenda gasped, feeling as though the air had been sucked out of the room.
Her mind flashed back to the stories,
Twenty two years ago, a man had sold a baby to her mother. The man had been secretive, hiding his face under a hat, claiming he was selling his own son,
That man… was Theron? The son of the Alpha King?
It all made sense now. Theron didn’t dare show his face because he was terrified the scandal would be exposed.
Glenda looked into Theodore’s freezing eyes and finally understood why she had been captured.
“I didn’t know!” she shrieked, scrambling backward despite her bonds. “I really didn’t know the whereabouts of that child!”
Despair clawed at her heart.
Her mother had died a miserable death years ago because she had offended the Crimson Moon
Pack
And the “rogue wolf pup” her mother had bought and resold turned out to be the brother of the current Alpha King.
She realized she had fallen into Theodore’s hands. Her end would likely be even more horrific than her mother’s.
