(Amelia’s POV)

After Stewart left, Seraphina turned to me with a serious expression.

“Amelia, are you absolutely certain about mating with Theodore?” she asked, her eyes searching mine for any hint of doubt.

I nodded without hesitation. “Completely certain.”

“The sooner the better,” I added in a whisper, thinking about my dream. The thought of legally being able to be intimate with Theodore sent a pleasant shiver down my spine.

Seraphina studied my face for a moment, then smiled when she saw no uncertainty in my eyes. “Then I support your decision completely.”

We finished breakfast and made our way to the main hall. When we arrived, I found Livia, Celine, and Caleb already waiting. Their faces showed varying degrees of displeasure at my

arrival.

Livia’s lips curved into a false smile. “Amelia, you’ve returned to Stone River Pack at the perfect time. You can fulfill your duty as the Alpha’s daughter by forming an alliance marriage with Crimson Moon Pack.”

Seraphina scoffed loudly beside me. “How can you lie so blatantly with a straight face,

Livia?”

She stepped forward, her eyes flashing with anger. “If Theodore wasn’t crippled, you wouldn’t even consider letting Amelia take part in this alliance. When it came to bringing Amelia home, I didn’t see any of you showing enthusiasm. But now that you need her to replace your precious daughter in this marriage, suddenly you’re all eager.”

Livia’s face hardened. “We sent you to retrieve her because we knew how desperately you wanted a child of your own.”

Seraphina’s response surprised me. She laughed genuinely and placed a hand on my shoulder. “Then I should thank you, Livia, for giving me the opportunity to be Amelia’s mother.”

“You’re welcome to what I didn’t want,” Livia sneered.

Caleb joined in with a contemptuous look. “Amelia is nowhere near Celine’s level anyway.”

I raised an eyebrow at him. “And what exactly makes you think I’m inferior to Celine?

“It’s obvious,” Caleb replied with a dismissive wave. “Celine is a renowned socialite in Northgate City”

I smirked. “Oh, you mean she’s mastered the arts, music, literature, and speaks five languages fluently? Tell me, are you really proud of showing off the daughter of the woman who switched your sister at birth? Is that something worth bragging about?”

Caleb’s face darkened, “Regardless, Celine is superior to you. That’s just fact.”

“Actually,” I said thoughtfully, “Celine’s mother is quite admirable in a way. At least she was willing to break the law for her daughter’s benefit. That’s far better than a mother who despises her own flesh and blood, wouldn’t you agree?”

Livia and Caleb’s faces flushed red with anger, but neither could form a rebuttal.

Inside me, Ava whispered, “They will never acknowledge our worth, but we will prove it to

them.”

Celine cleared her throat, breaking the tense silence. “I could teach you some of my talents, Amelia. It would help you fit in better.”

“Really?” I challenged. “Why don’t you demonstrate your skills right now so I can see if you’re qualified to teach me anything?”

Celine faltered, clearly caught off guard. “I… I was planning to perform at your welcome banquet on Saturday. As a gift.”

I saw through her immediately. “You just want to show off in front of everyone to prove you’re better than me.‘

“You’re just afraid she’ll outshine you,” Caleb sneered.

I laughed confidently. “No one will outshine me at my own welcome banquet. I’ll show you all just how blind you’ve been.”

The sound of a cane tapping against the floor interrupted our argument. Patriarch Alaric entered the room, supported by Stewart.

“What are you all discussing so heatedly?” he asked, his authoritative voice silencing

everyone.

Caleb immediately tattled. “Celine wanted to perform at the welcome banquet as a gift for Amelia, but she’s refusing to accept it.”

I rolled my eyes. “That’s not what I said. I simply questioned Celine’s motives for wanting to perform. I never said I wouldn’t accept it.”

I turned to Celine with a sweet smile. “By all means, perform whatever you’d like. It’s a form of welcome, after all.”

Caleb looked surprised. He had clearly expected me to put up more resistance.

Alaric nodded approvingly. “Now, to the matter at hand. I’ve called you all here to discuss the alliance marriage with Crimson Moon Pack.”

He turned to me, his expression serious but kind. “Amelia, you should understand that Crimson Moon Pack is the largest and most powerful pack in the Northern Territories. An alliance with them is of tremendous significance.”

I nodded, listening carefully.

“While Theodore’s legs are crippled,” Alaric continued, “this does not diminish Crimson Moon Pack’s status or influence. Many she–wolves would envy the opportunity to mate with him.”

He glanced briefly at Celine before continuing. “After your welcome banquet, everyone will know that you are the true daughter of Stone River Pack’s Alpha. It would be inappropriate for Celine to mate with Theodore under these circumstances.”

“I understand,” I replied calmly.

Alaric studied me for a moment, then asked the question I’d been waiting for: “Are you willing to mate with Alpha King heir Theodore?”
