Part II: Unexpected Help
Kiara had just finished feeding the baby when one of her maids entered the room, flustered.
“Your Majesty, there’s a great commotion in the palace.”
“What happened?” Kiara asked, not paying much attention to what her maid was saying.
“Apparently, Princess Sophia’s daughter is here.”
“Where is she?!”
“She’s in the throne room, having an audience with the Queen at this moment.”
Kiara knew her mother could be difficult, so she handed the baby to the maid.
“Take care of her while I’m gone.”

She hurried to the throne room. Hearing her mother say that she wouldn’t let them go, Kiara intervened.
“Mother, could we speak for a moment?”
There were many people in the room. If Kiara wanted to convince her mother to change her mind, she had to get rid of everyone expectantly awaiting the outcome.
“I’m busy at the moment, Kiara.”
“Please, Mother, it’s important.”
Kiara rarely asked Enora for anything, so she couldn’t refuse her daughter’s request.
“Very well, come closer.”
Kiara approached her mother.
“There are too many eyes watching. Could you ask them to leave? They make me uncomfortable.”
Enora agreed to her request.
“You are all dismissed. I will summon you again later.”
Everyone left, leaving only Abril, Alessandro, and the guards.
“Now you can speak. Or do you want our conversation to be even more private?”
“This is fine, Mother.”
“Then speak.”
Kiara glanced at the young woman who must be her cousin. She was identical to her aunt, so she thought
to use that to try to convince her mother to let her go.
“Mother, she’s identical to Aunt Sophia.”
Part # Unexpected Help
Kiara approached Abril and spoke softly so that neither her mother nor the guards could hear.
“Remain silent if you want to get your daughter back.”
Kiara turned back to the throne.
“Mother, I would like to take my cousin with me.”
“This is what you wanted to tell me? Go back to your chambers, Kiara,”
“The baby needs her mother. Please let me take her to her.”
“She will go to the Malva Tower.”
Abril was about to retort, but Alessandro stopped her, whispering.
“Calm down, not yet.”

Abril didn’t understand why Alessandro seemed so calm all of a sudden, but she decided to trust him and
remained silent, listening to the conversation between the Queen and her daughter.
“Mother, do you really intend to lock Aunt Sophia’s only daughter in the Malva Tower? If Aunt Sophia were
alive, you would break her heart into a thousand pieces.”
Kiara’s words were like sharp daggers that dug into the Queen’s chest. She looked at the girl who looked
so much like her sister and realized that she couldn’t be capable of locking her in the Malva Tower
because it would be like doing it to her sister Sophia.
Kiara realized that her words were having the desired effect, so she continued speaking.
“Mother, please let me take her with me.”
Heaving a sigh, Enora agreed to her daughter’s request because she knew she would be unable to lock up
this girl who looked exactly like her sister.
“Very well, Kiara. I will let you take her, but only her.”
Enora turned her gaze to Alessandro.
“This man is not going anywhere until he tells me how he crossed the barrier.”
Abril couldn’t stay silent any longer.
“We weren’t lying when we said he simply crossed, because that’s how it was. Alessandro did nothing to breach your barrier.”
Kiara spoke to her mother, who hadn’t stopped frowning in annoyance.
“Mother, maybe it’s like they say. Maybe it was a problem with the barrier or…”
“Or what?”
“Maybe he has Elven blood running through his veins.”

“If he had Elven blood in his veins, his appearance would have changed when he crossed the barrier, but it isn’t so. His appearance is still that of a mere human.”
“Then maybe it’s a problem with the barrier. Before making any decisions, you should ask them to check the barrier to make sure that wasn’t the problem.”
“Why are you defending this human so much, Kiara?”
“Because he is one of our allies, Mother. Have you forgotten?”
“Very well, I will do as you say. Until I can verify that what this man says is true, he will have to stay here. If his entry here was a mere fluke, then I will let him go. Guards, escort him to one of the guest rooms and keep an eye on him at all times.”
Alessandro broke the silence he had tried so hard to keep.
“I want to see my daughter and make sure she is okay.”
“Kiara has been taking care of your daughter. She can tell you how well she is doing.”
“How can I believe the words of someone who kidnapped my daughter? I need to see her and see with my own eyes that she is truly okay.”
“Very well, Kiara. Bring the baby.”
“Yes, Mother.”
Kiara left the throne room and went to her palace to look for Lissana. Once Kiara was gone, Enora took the opportunity to warn Alessandro.
“Although I am granting your request and not locking you in a dungeon, you are still a prisoner until I can verify what you have said. You better not have lied, otherwise, I will make you pay dearly for your
deception.”
“I have not lied at any time.”
“For your sake, your story had better be true.”
“It is, and that’s why I’m not afraid of your threats.”

“Hmm… perhaps it’s quite the opposite. Perhaps she wants you by her side right now.”
“Well, her look said otherwise.”
“It’s true, but I know she likes you to be by her side. There’s a reason you’re so close.”
“Princess!”
“I know what’s between you two, so you don’t have to try to hide it.”
Lissana started to fuss again. It seemed she was about to cry.
“It’s best I go in before she starts crying.”
Before entering, Kiara told him, “You should go back in. When this meeting is over, she’ll need you.”
When Kiara entered, she wanted to run to meet them. She wanted to get her daughter back, take her in her
arms, and make sure she was all right. She wanted to kiss her and tell her how much she loved her.
Alessandro seemed to be the same.
But neither of them could go to meet her; the guards prevented it. When they were close enough, Lissana
reached out her arms to her parents.
“Here is your daughter. She is very well.”
Kiara was about to hand the baby over to them when Enora said, “Kiara, bring the child to me.”
“But Mother…”
“I said I would allow them to see her so they could see with their own eyes how well she is. At no point did
I say I would hand them the baby.”
Abril could no longer remain silent. She couldn’t go another minute without holding her daughter in her
arms. She shoved the guard who was holding her back and snatched her daughter from Kiara.
Lissana seemed to have recognized who her mother was. She began to laugh as she looked at her
mother. From the moment Abril had learned that her daughter had been taken away, she had been missing
a part of her heart. But the instant she held her daughter in her arms, she felt that pain that had been
piercing her chest disappear completely.
Abril began to kiss the chubby cheeks of her little daughter. “My little girl, my baby, you are finally in
Mama’s arms.”
Alessandro told the guards, “Release me. Let me get to my daughter,” as he struggled to free himself to
reach his daughter and wife.
Seeing how desperate Alessandro was to reach his daughter and wife, Kiara said to her mother, “Mother, it
must not have been easy for them to be separated from their daughter. Let them be together.”
Although Enora wanted to refuse, she didn’t want to prolong the meeting any longer, so she said to the guards, “Guards, release him. They can have their leave.”

When the guards let him go, the first thing Alessandro did was run to embrace his family. He hugged Abril, Lissana caught between them.
“We are finally together again, complete again.”
Abril responded with tears in her eyes, tears of relief at having her daughter back in her arms. “Yes, we are
finally reunited, together again.”
Kiara approached her mother while Abril and Alessandro were in their emotional reunion. “Mother, they are
a family. Please don’t separate them.”
“You want me to let them stay together?”
“Yes, because if I were in their place, if they separated me from you, Mother, I would feel like I was dying. Because there is nothing worse than being away from those you love.”
