Kiara didn’t know if her mother would agree to let the three of them stay together, especially since her

brow seemed to be even more furrowed than before.

Enora sighed and said to her daughter, “Kiara, you won’t always get what you want with your sweet words, although I really don’t know why you’re trying so hard to help someone you don’t even know.”

Enora turned her gaze to Alessandro and Abril, who were clinging tightly to her daughter as if they were afraid of being taken away. When their eyes met, Abril didn’t scream, she didn’t reply, and she didn’t curse the queen. She just remained very quiet and still. The only sign of her anger, of the growing rage inside her, were her golden eyes, which shimmered with a lethal calm.

Enora approached her and said, “You cannot be together. The three of you must remain separated. So give me the baby. I let you see her so you could see that she is well, but I never said I was giving her back to

you.”

Abril had been suffering for days without her daughter in her arms. She had managed to get her back and she wasn’t going to let anything or anyone take her away from her again.

She was invaded by a rage so overwhelming that Abril could barely contain herself from jumping on the elf queen and attacking her, releasing the anger that she had been accumulating and which she never thought she could feel.

Memories of the conversation she had had with Enzo in the kingdom of Laios came to her mind.

“You’re a Venobich, little sister. Blood ties cannot be hidden. Even though you seem good, there’s also a certain darkness inside you.”

She had denied being like him, but it seemed she had been wrong. As much as she hated to prove her brother right, she couldn’t keep denying it. Deep down, there was also a certain darkness inside her. Abril stomped on the ground with all her might, striking with all the rage that boiled inside her.

“I won’t give you my daughter. If you want to take her from me, you’ll have to kill me.”

If that girl didn’t look so much like her sister Sophia, if she wasn’t her spitting image, Enora wouldn’t have hesitated to do what she was told. She wouldn’t have hesitated to kill her at the first provocation.

But she couldn’t do it; so she responded with pain in her voice.

Abril didn’t know what else to say. She didn’t know what to do to make that queen give her back her daughter and leave her family alone. At that moment, she wished she had her mother by her side to help her resolve such a difficult situation. Suddenly, she heard her mother’s voice in her head saying,

“My child, don’t cry, don’t grieve. I’ll take care of this.”

Abril closed her eyes. When she opened them again, something about her seemed to have changed. She wiped the tears from her cheeks, and with a sweet smile and a kind look, she looked at Enora.

“Enough, Enora. Don’t punish my daughter for my sins, or for my mistakes.”

The way the girl looked and spoke to her made Enora feel as if she were talking to her sister Sophia. As she looked at the baby with a sweet expression on her face, the girl continued,

“Children are angels that come as light into the lives of parents. They are God’s blessing given to living beings. They are not to blame for the sins of their parents. Don’t take your anger out on her, Enora.” Enora was a little confused. The more she listened to her, the more she was reminded of Sophia.

Alessandro knew that it wasn’t Abril who was speaking, but her mother, Sophia. He asked her, “Why are you here? I thought you were completely gone?”

“I left, but the connection with my daughter still remains.”

Enora, not understanding what was going on, said, “I don’t know what you’re playing at, but nothing will make me change my mind.”

“I’m surprised to see you’re still as stubborn as ever, sister.”

“My sister is dead. Don’t try to use that trick to get what you want.”
