Chapter 316: Shameless bastard
Chapter 316: Shameless bastard
(Jade’s POV)
Lucas stared at the phone screen, his face illuminated by the harsh blue light.
The screenshots of the chat logs were spreading like wildfire across the werewolf network.
Instead of looking ashamed, a twisted sneer curled his lips. He let out a bark of incredulous
laughter.

“Amelia Stone is digging her own grave,” Lucas spat, tossing the phone onto the table. “She actually exposed the bet herself? She is practically inviting the entire werewolf society to buy front–row tickets to watch her kneel down.”
He poured himself another drink, his hands shaking slightly from adrenaline rather than fear. “She wants the world to see her lick my shoes,” he added, downing the amber liquid.
I sat beside him, swirling the wine in my glass. The crimson liquid coated the crystal, looking disturbingly like blood.
“Or perhaps,” I said, keeping my voice flat and analytical, “she believes she can actually win. Maybe she thinks she can put a collar on you and walk you like an untamed stray dog.”
Lucas slammed his glass down.
“That is impossible!” he shouted, his eyes bulging. “Griffin already gave me his word. In this game of power, I am the only designated winner.”
Hugh, who had been scrolling through his own tablet, suddenly looked up. His eyes gleamed with a venomous light.
“Griffin,” Hugh said, turning to the man on the central sofa. “Since Amelia loves creating headlines, why don’t we help her?”
Griffin raised an eyebrow, signaling him to continue.
“We should manipulate the narrative,” Hugh suggested eagerly. “Let’s leak the cast list for
*Treatment Diary* early.”
He smirked, looking like a hyena scenting a carcass.
“Let everyone know she picked Wayne as the male lead. A washed–up, has–been actor. And for the villain? Jasper Calder.”

Hugh let out a mocking snort.

“A mongrel raised by Rogues,” he scoffed. “Once the public sees her cast is full of defectives and bastards, the hype will skyrocket. But when the show airs, she will crash harder than ever.”
Lucas burst into laughter, clapping Hugh on the shoulder.
“Brilliant! Congratulations, Hugh. It looks like you will be taking over Gale Entertainment sooner than expected.”
Hugh glanced at me, his expression dripping with false modesty.
“It is too early to say that,” he said, though his eyes were arrogant. “I must help Griffin completely destroy Starlight Entertainment first. We need to drain every drop of value from Caleb Stone.”
He paused, his gaze lingering on me with malicious intent.
“Only then will Alpha Arthur feel safe handing me the reins,” Hugh said smoothly. “And of course, I must thank my dear sister Jade. Without her, Griffin wouldn’t give me the time of day.”
I felt bile rise in my throat. The humiliation burned, but I forced it down.
I leaned my body against Griffin, resting my head on his shoulder. I pouted, making my voice soft
and trembling.
“Griffin,” I whispered. “I am here because I truly admire you. It has nothing to do with supporting my illegitimate brother.”
Griffin’s hand shot out, his fingers clamping around my jaw like a vice. He forced me to look into his cold eyes.
“Remember that,” he warned, his voice low and dangerous. “If you ever dare to betray me, you
know the consequences.”
“I wouldn’t dare,” I murmured.
“Sing for us, Jade,” Hugh interjected, clapping his hands. “Entertain Griffin.”
I looked up at Griffin, my eyes shimmering with unshed tears.
“He doesn’t respect me,” I complained softly. “Disrespecting me is the same as looking down on you, isn’t it?”
Griffin released my jaw and glared at Hugh.
“Shut up, Hugh,” Griffin ordered.
Hugh flinched under the Alpha’s pressure. He shot me a glare full of hatred but bowed his head in

submission.
The party dragged on until ten o’clock. The air in the room was suffocating.
I hadn’t gathered any more useful intelligence. It was time to leave.

“I need my beauty sleep,” I announced, standing up and smoothing my dress. “I want to look my
best for you, Griffin.”
“Leaving so soon?” Hugh started to protest.
“You take her home,” Griffin commanded, cutting him off. His eyes were unreadable. “I can’t let my
‘fiancée‘ walk out alone.”
Griffin watched us leave with a cold detachment. I knew exactly what he was doing. He saw Hugh bullying me, and he allowed it. He wanted to remind me that my status, my dignity, everything I
had, existed only because he permitted it.
(Jade’s POV)
As soon as the heavy door of the private booth clicked shut, the atmosphere changed.
The corridor of Night City was dimly lit. The thumping bass of the music was muffled here.
Hugh instantly dropped his mask of civility.
“Don’t think you are special,” he sneered, walking beside me. “You might be Alpha Arthur’s legitimate daughter, but right now? You are just a tool. A pretty gift wrapped up to buy us favor with the Drake family.”
I stopped walking. The rage I had suppressed all night finally boiled over.
I turned and swung my hand.
*Smack!*
The sound of the slap echoed crisply against the walls.
Hugh stumbled back, his hand flying to his cheek. Shock replaced his arrogance for a split second before it turned into fury. He raised his hand to strike me back.
I didn’t flinch. I lifted my chin and stared him down with cold, starry eyes.
“Do you dare?” I hissed. “Do you dare touch Griffin Drake’s woman?”
Hugh’s hand froze in mid–air. His face twitched. He hated me, but he feared Griffin far more.
“You bitch,” he growled, lowering his hand slowly. “Just you wait. When I officially take over the pack, and when Griffin gets bored of your body, I will make you pay.”

I slapped his hand away with disgust.
“Dream on,” I said coldly.
I turned on my heel and marched toward the elevator.
Hugh followed me like a rabid dog, stepping into the metal box right behind me.

“Don’t think you can ever flip the script,” he taunted, his voice echoing in the confined space. “You are just like your mother. Pathetic.”
“Shut up!” I snapped.
“She died miserably,” Hugh laughed cruelly. “And you will end up just like her if you don’t learn your
place. Serve Griffin well, or you’ll join her.”
My vision blurred with red anger. I lunged at him, wanting to tear his face off.
Hugh caught my wrist easily, his grip bruising.
