The anonymous werewolf forums were burning up. A digital wildfire spread through the community, consuming every feed and chat room. The topic was singular and shocking: the blackout at Night City.
Pack members and rogues alike typed furiously, dissecting the event. Night City wasn’t just a club; it was a
fortress of the Drake family in the Northern Territories. For thirty years, its lights had never flickered.
“It has military–grade power systems,” one user posted. “I used to work maintenance there. Even if the
main grid blows, the backups kick in within two minutes. A twenty–minute blackout is impossible.”
“It’s a disgrace,” another replied. “The Drake family’s security just got slapped in the face.”
Curiosity about the cause was rampant. It didn’t take long for the insiders to spill the tea. The name
“Amelia Stone” began to appear in thread after thread.
“I was there,” a witness claimed. “I saw her leave. She wasn’t walking alone. There were fireflies.
Thousands of them.”
“Fireflies?”
“Yes. Glowing bugs surrounding her like she was the Goddess of Light herself. It was terrifying and
beautiful.”
A blurry photo surfaced shortly after. The lighting was poor, taken from a hiding spot in the shadows. But
the silhouette was unmistakable. A slender woman walked through the darkness, bathed in a soft, eerie
glow of swirling insects.
The comments section exploded.
“How did she do it? Did she command the bugs to eat the wires?”
“Don’t be stupid. But seriously, hacking the Night City grid? That system has biometric locks and rolling encryption. You need a top–tier team for that.”
“It’s Amelia Stone,” a fan argued. “She writes bestsellers, composes hit songs, and heals the dying. Is it really so hard to believe she knows how to hack?”
While the discussion about the blackout was filled with awe, the second trending topic was filled with pure, unadulterated rage.
**#Hugh York: Murderer**
The tone here was vicious. Werewolf netizens were calling for blood.
“He’s a piece of trash,” one comment read, garnering thousands of likes. “He killed a family of three while. drunk driving. There was a pup in the car! A newborn pup!”

“And he laughed about it,” another added. “I heard he threatened the witnesses.”
Insiders began to leak more details. The tragedy had happened late at night on a desolate stretch of road two years ago. The Gale Pack had used their influence and money to bury the truth. The victims‘ families had been silenced, eventually dying of grief and despair.
“This is karma,” a user wrote. “First Starlight Entertainment, now this. Someone is cleaning up the filth.”
Then came the connection.
“I heard Hugh got his skull cracked open last night at Night City.”
“Amelia Stone was there. Hugh got beat. Do the math.”
“The Moon Goddess is watching,” a pious user posted. “If the law won’t punish him, she sent Amelia to do
Even without direct proof of murder, the community had already passed judgment. If Amelia had indeed smashed Hugh’s head in, she was doing the Lord’s work. It felt like divine retribution.

In the lavish master bedroom of the York estate, the air was thick with the smell of medicine and fury.
Hugh sat up in bed, his head wrapped heavily in white gauze. Blood had seeped through slightly at the
temple.
“Look at this!” Hugh screamed, his voice cracking.
He hurled his brand–new smartphone across the room. It hit the marble floor with a sickening crunch, the
screen shattering into a spiderweb of glass.
“They want me dead! They are telling me to go to hell!” Hugh panted, his face pale and sweaty.
Beside the bed, Tanya sat calmly on a velvet chair. She held a porcelain bowl filled with warm cream of
mushroom soup. She blew on the spoon gently, cooling it, completely ignoring her son’s outburst.
“Open your mouth,” Tanya said, her voice flat. “I didn’t show you the news so you could throw a tantrum. I showed you so you would understand the situation.”
Hugh turned his head away, refusing the food. His eyes were bloodshot.
“It was her,” he hissed. “Amelia broke my head open last night. Now this news leaks this morning? If this isn’t her doing, I’ll change my last name! I won’t be a York anymore!”
Tanya’s hand froze, She slowly lowered the spoon back into the bowl. Her eyes turned cold as she looked at her son.
“And what name would you take, Hugh?” she asked softly, dangerously. “Do you have another father in
mind?”
Hugh froze, sensing the shift in her mood. He swallowed hard, realizing he had misspoken in his anger.

“Mom, I didn’t mean that,” he whined, his tone shifting to aggrieved victimhood. “I just… I can’t let this slide. I am the son of the Gale Pack Alpha! I was humiliated! Beaten like a dog! You have to help me kill
her.”
Tanya placed the soup bowl on the bedside table with a sharp clink. She looked at him with a mixture of pity and frustration.
“Kill her?” Tanya let out a humorless laugh. “Hugh, use your brain. I want to destroy her too. But right now?
We can’t touch a hair on her head.”
Hugh stared at her, stunned.
