Arthur raised his glass with a trembling hand, his face twisted into a sycophantic smile. The amber liquid

swirled as he toasted the man sitting opposite him.

“It is wonderful, Alpha Griffin,” Arthur said, his voice dripping with flattery. “Since you are personally taking

action, I can finally rest easy.”

He downed the drink, the burn of alcohol doing little to settle the cold dread in his stomach. Arthur knew

the truth deep in his bones.

If they did not completely destroy Amelia Stone now, he would be the next to fall. The death of Hugh York

haunted him.

Arthur felt a deep, chilling fear whenever he thought of that woman. Amelia’s methods were complex and

terrifyingly ruthless.

He was one hundred percent certain she was the mastermind. She was the one who exposed his shame

and sent Hugh, that “bastard,” to his death.

Yet, she had kept her hands perfectly clean. Not a drop of blood stained her fingers.

She had maneuvered so skillfully that even Griffin Drake was forced to step in. Griffin had to hastily close

the car accident case just to cover up the ensuing scandals.

Arthur gripped his glass tighter. He needed her gone.

Just then, the heavy door swung open. Lucas Lloyd walked in, his arm draped possessively around

Celine’s waist.

Lucas spotted Arthur sitting in the corner with a dark expression. A nasty smirk curled Lucas’s lips as he remembered the rumors spreading like wildfire through the elite circle.

“Arthur,” Lucas drawled, his tone mocking. “I heard about your son. What a tragedy, raising another man’s

pup for twenty–two years.”

Arthur’s face turned the color of iron. He clamped his mouth shut, refusing to rise to the bait.

Seeing that Arthur wouldn’t bite, Lucas turned his attention to Griffin. His tone shifted instantly to one of

respect.

“Alpha Griffin, what’s the situation with Amelia’s new song release?” Lucas asked.

Griffin didn’t answer. He simply swirled his wine glass, staring at the red vortex with cold indifference.

Arthur cleared his throat, eager to prove his usefulness.

Amelia shrugged, leaning back against her pillows.

“But this birthday is different,” she whispered. “Because of you, it feels extraordinarily special.”

Theodore felt a surge of warmth in his chest. He wished he could reach through the screen and hold her.

“I regret that I cannot be there to spend this moment with you,” he said, his voice thick with emotion.

“Don’t worry,” Amelia comforted him, touching the screen. “We are destined mates. We will have a long

eternity together.”

They shared a quiet moment of connection. Then, Theodore’s expression turned serious. The playfulness

vanished.

“Marcus has found the background of the killer Griffin hired,” Theodore stated.

Amelia sat up straighter. “And?”

“He is a rogue wolf from the European territories,” Theodore explained. “He is a notorious bounty hunter in

the werewolf world. He has been in the business for many years and has never missed a target.”

Theodore watched her face closely, looking for signs of fear. There were none.

Instead, Amelia’s blue eyes lit up. They sparkled with a dangerous excitement.

“Never missed?” she repeated, a challenge in her voice. “Then he is about to meet his first failure.”

She looked like a warrior anticipating a worthy battle. She wasn’t afraid; she was eager.

Theodore’s lips curved into a doting smile. He loved this about her.

“I pity him,” Theodore murmured. “He has no idea who he is dealing with.”

He glanced at the time. It was approaching eleven o’clock.

“You need to prepare for your release,” Theodore said reluctantly. “We should hang up.”
