The butler bowed respectfully at the doorway. He informed Jaxon that the final distinguished guest, Rhys
Calder, had officially arrived at the banquet hall.
Jaxon nodded, a look of satisfaction settling on his features. He turned slowly to face the large vanity
mirror where Seraphina and I stood.
“The guests are all here,” Jaxon announced gently, his eyes warm with fatherly pride. “It is time for us to
make our appearance.”
Seraphina placed her silver lip brush down on the marble vanity table. She took a step back, her gaze fixed intently on my reflection. Her amber eyes shimmered with unshed tears of admiration.
“Dear,” she breathed, her voice trembling slightly. “You are absolutely breathtaking tonight. Truly, I have
never seen anyone so beautiful.”
I looked at myself in the mirror. The woman staring back was confident, regal, and unrecognizable from
the girl who once scrubbed floors. I offered my mother a brilliant smile.
“It is all thanks to you, Mom,” I said softly. “This dress you designed fits like a second skin. And this perfect makeup hides all the exhaustion.”
Seraphina shook her head, reaching out to clasp my hand. Her fingers were warm, grounding me.
“No, Amelia,” she insisted firmly. “It is not the dress or the makeup. It is you. You inherited the excellent
Alpha bloodline. You were born radiant, a natural leader. The dress simply complements your inner light.”
She gave my hand a reassuring squeeze, signaling that we should head downstairs.
Jaxon stepped forward, his tall frame imposing in his formal suit. He offered me his arm with a pride that
made my chest ache with gratitude.
I took his arm, sandwiching myself between my two adoptive parents. We were a united front, ready to
face the wolves.
*That’s right,* Ava purred deep in my consciousness, stretching her silver limbs. *Show them. Show them.
who the real queen is, not that cheap knockoff Celine who tries so hard to mimic us.*
We moved toward the door, but a sudden thought made me dig my heels in.
“Stop,” I said, halting our procession. “Dad, wait. There is one more thing.”
Jaxon looked down at me, surprised. “What is it, Amelia?”
“Please, instruct the guards at the main gate immediately,” I said, my voice dropping to a serious whisper. “If Livia arrives, they must stop her. Do not let her enter until the guests in the banquet hall have finished

Jaxon blinked, clearly taken aback. “Livia? I assumed she arrived earlier with Adrian and his entourage.”
“No,” I shook my head grimly. “She wasn’t with them. This is a calculated move. I am certain Adrian has colluded with Griffin Drake. They intend to use Livia as a living bomb to cause chaos at the banquet.”
“How do you know?” Jaxon asked.
“My people found her first,” I admitted. “I utilized her blind, foolish trust in Adrian and her twisted sense of
pride. I lured her here. I induced her to appear at this specific moment.”
“You want her here?” Seraphina asked, horrified. “Why?”
“So she can see Adrian’s true face,” I said coldly. “She needs to see that she is nothing but a pawn to him.”
“But will that madwoman cooperate?” Seraphina worried.
“She will,” I assured her. “To suppress me, to try and ruin my night, she will follow the script perfectly.”
Jaxon’s expression hardened. He nodded once, understanding the strategy. He immediately established a
mind–link with the head of security.
“Hold her at the gate,” Jaxon commanded silently but intensely.
He cut the link and sighed, a sound of deep regret.
“I regret it,” Jaxon murmured. “I was too benevolent toward Adrian’s family in the past. My mercy allowed
them to think they could still harm you.”
His eyes flashed with Alpha steel.
“This time,” he vowed, “for the sake of the Pack’s future, I will thoroughly crush Adrian’s conspiracy.”
(Author’s POV)
The banquet hall was alive with the hum of conversation and the clinking of crystal. Rhys sat at a table near the front, looking every bit the refined scholar. He leaned in to speak with his father, Rowan, and the gathered members of the Meadow Brook Pack.
“Don’t worry,” Rhys promised the elders. “Once I finish the manuscript for my new novel, I will return to the
territory. We have much to catch up on.”
The orchestra shifted seamlessly into a new piece. It was a melody Amelia had composed herself. The
notes were stirring, elegant, and filled with a haunting power.
At the main VIP table, Caleb’s face went dark. He recognized the superior composition, and it stung his
pride as a musician.
Natasha, sensing the tension, raised her voice deliberately.
“Now this is what I call real music!” she declared, her voice carrying over the din. “Amelia is the true talent of the Stone family. She doesn’t need autotune or fake publicity to shine.”

Her words were a direct slap to Caleb’s face.

In a darkened room miles away, Celine watched the surveillance feed on a large monitor. Her face drained
of color, leaving her looking ghostly pale with jealousy.
“Bitch,” she hissed at the screen.
Back at the table, Adrian could take no more. He slammed his hand down, rattling the silverware.
“Watch your tongue, girl,” Adrian barked at Natasha. “Show some respect.”
Theodore, who had been silent, slowly lifted his eyes.
“Are you threatening her?” Theodore asked softly.
In an instant, a terrifying pressure exploded from him. It was the crushing, suffocating aura of a Dominant
Alpha. It swept through the hall, freezing the air in everyone’s lungs.
Adrian turned pale. The memory of Theodore’s power brought a primal fear rushing back. He clamped his mouth shut, trembling.
Alpha King Gideon chuckled darkly.
“Look at him,” Gideon sneered. “He looks just like a stray dog cowering before a lion.”
Alaric Stone stood up, his hands shaking. “Please, Your Highness. Forgive my son. He is… unwell.”
Theodore’s lips curled into a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. It was a cruel, predatory expression.
“Alaric,” Theodore said coolly. “You had best prepare to bury your son.”
The table went deathly quiet.
“Adrian’s family,” Theodore continued, “is remarkably talented at seeking their own destruction.”
*These trash,* Logan snorted in Theodore’s mind. *They aren’t even worth the effort of baring my fangs.*
Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight hit the top of the grand staircase.
Amelia appeared.
She wore a gown that seemed woven from starlight and shadows, a haute couture masterpiece. Jaxon and Seraphina flanked her, beaming with pride.
She descended the stairs slowly, her sapphire eyes scanning the room. She looked like a Moon Goddess
come to earth.
Rowan stood up abruptly.
“To Amelia!” he shouted.
The Meadow Brook Pack members scrambled to their feet, raising their glasses high.
“Happy Birthday!” they roared, their rough voices full of genuine affection.

Through the hidden camera, Celine watched this adoration. Her eyes bulged with madness.

“Enjoy it while you can, you lowly wolves,” she spat, her voice dripping with venom. “I hope you choke on
it.”
She thought of the food she had ordered to be spiked.
“Just wait,” she whispered. “Just wait until the poison rips through your guts.”
In the private box, Griffin’s assistant hurried to his side.
“Mr. Drake,” he whispered. “Livia Stone has arrived at the gate.”
Griffin swirled his wine, a look of sadistic pleasure lighting up his face.
“Excellent,” he purred. “The real show is about to begin.”
Beside him, Jade gripped her glass until her knuckles turned white, her heart pounding in fear.
Outside the massive gates of the Stone River Pack House, a lone taxi idled.
Livia pushed the door open and stepped out onto the pavement.
She had cleaned herself up. The dirt of the streets was gone, and she wore a decent dress. But her face was a mask of gaunt desperation. Her cheekbones jutted out sharply, making her mean eyes look even
more manic.
She marched toward the gate.
Two guards stepped forward, blocking her way.
“Halt,” one ordered. “Invitation?”
Livia’s face twisted.
“Open the gate!” she screamed, her voice shrill and hysterical. “I am here for my daughter’s birthday banquet! Do you know who I am? Open it!”
