I looked at the heavy document in my hands, feeling the weight of the promise it held. Theodore’s golden
eyes bore into mine, unyielding and intense.
“Since you insist, then I will accept it,” I said softy.
I carefully placed the Mate Contract back into the thick envelope.
“I will sign it after the marking ceremony is complete,” I added with a calm smile.
I didn’t offer any more polite refusals. I knew he wouldn’t accept them anyway.
Across the room, I saw Jaxon and Seraphina exchange a look. Simultaneously, they let out long breaths,
their shoulders relaxing. It was as if a heavy stone had been lifted from their hearts.
They knew I was capable. They knew I could protect myself. But as parents, they simply wanted me to
have the strongest shield possible.
Theodore was willing to mortgage the entire Crimson Pack’s assets for me. This proved one undeniable fact. No matter what storms came our way in the future, I would have absolute security and financial
independence.
Deep in my consciousness, Ava stirred. She swished her silver tail with satisfaction.
‘That is correct, she purred through our link. ‘An Alpha’s promise must have a substantial price to be real.
This crippled wolf has some sincerity after all.’
(Author’s POV)
Miles away, in a dimly lit private booth, Lucas Lloyd stared at the live stream projected on the wall. His eyes bulged in disbelief.
“He’s lost his mind!” Lucas shouted, slamming his hand on the table.
He pointed a shaking finger at Theodore on the screen.
“Not only are his legs crippled, but his brain is broken too! Who signs away everything to a female before
the bond is even sealed?”
Lucas paced around the small room, his face twisted with disdain.
“An Alpha’s wealth is meant to be a tool,” he ranted. “It’s capital to show off to females, to control them.
You don’t actually put the power in their hands!”
Celine sat on the plush sofa next to him. She straightened her back, inching away from him. A wave of nausea rolled through her stomach as she looked at his stingy, powerless face.

She turned her gaze back to the screen. Her heart burned with a jealousy so intense it felt like swallowing
acid.
Theodore Crimson, the most powerful Alpha in the territories, was humiliating himself for Amelia. He was
giving her everything.
Celine felt like the world’s biggest fool.
If she hadn’t been so terrified of his disability, she wouldn’t have demanded Amelia’s return. Amelia would still be rotting in the countryside. And Celine wouldn’t be stuck here, clinging to a useless man like Lucas just to survive.
While everyone in the booth was fixated on the screen, the door opened silently.
A waiter in a crisp uniform stepped inside. He moved with practiced invisibility, holding a bottle of
expensive red wine.
He approached the table where the glasses sat. As he turned his body to block the line of sight from the
sofa, his hand moved with lightning speed.
A pinch of fine white powder slipped from his fingers. It fell into the wine glass destined for Lucas.
The powder dissolved instantly upon touching the dark liquid. There was no fizz, no change in color. It was completely undetectable.
Back at the Stone family estate, the banquet atmosphere remained warm and lively.
Natasha bounced forward, a mischievous grin on her face. She held out a beautifully wrapped gift box.
“For the future Luna,” she announced brightly.
Amelia opened it to reveal a complete set of luxury lipsticks, spanning every shade imaginable.
“I know you don’t lack anything,” Natasha laughed. “But a girl can never have too many shades. Consider it a little heart from your sister–in–law.”
Amelia accepted the gift with a genuine smile. “Thank you, Natasha. I love it.”
She turned her gaze to Theodore. He sat in his wheelchair, his suit perfectly tailored to his broad
shoulders.
“You look incredibly handsome today,” Amelia said, her voice sincere. “I can’t take my eyes off you.”
Theodore’s expression softened instantly. “I dressed up just for you,” he replied gently.
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
The chant started from the Meadow Brook table. Rowan and the others were clapping their hands, their faces flushed with joy.
Amelia didn’t shy away. She leaned down, cupping Theodore’s face, and pressed her lips to his. The room erupted in cheers.

Natasha clapped loudest of all, beaming at the couple. Then she noticed Jasper standing quietly to the side, looking a bit lost.
She nudged him with her elbow. “Hey, your turn.”
Jasper blinked, snapping out of his daze. He stepped forward shyly, holding a box.
“Here,” he mumbled.
Inside were two custom mugs. They featured cartoon versions of a silver wolf and a black wolf, their tails
entwined.
“I wish you happiness,” Jasper said, his eyes clear and sincere.
Ethan and Caleb began to rise from their seats to present their gifts, but the elders of the Stone family remained seated.
Adrian sat like a statue. His mind was elsewhere. He was calculating the timing of his “grand gift“-the video of Livia being tortured.
He planned to release it to create chaos and blame Amelia’s enemies, forcing her to rely on him. But he was anxious. Griffin hadn’t sent the signal yet.
Beside him, Lyra crossed her arms.
“I have no money for gifts,” she muttered loudly.
She shot a glare at Alaric. “Father gave all the pack assets to an outsider. Look at how destitute I am now.”
Alaric’s face darkened. “Shut your mouth, Lyra. You spent your fortune on vanity.”
Lyra huffed but fell silent. She consoled herself with the thought that Adrian’s plan would soon ruin Amelia’s perfect night.
Theodore maneuvered his wheelchair back to the head table. As soon as he settled, Adrian cleared his
throat.
The Stone River Alpha put on a mask of concern. He leaned forward, his eyes darting between Theodore and the guests.
