Adrian’s body went rigid at the accusation.
“Me?” he roared, his voice booming with righteous indignation.
He did not look like a guilty man. He looked like an Alpha whose honor had been stained.
“Livia, look at me!” Adrian commanded, stepping into the light of the streetlamps. “I am your mate. We
share a bond.”
He spread his hands wide, his chest heaving.
“Why would I hire rogues? Why would I kidnap the mother of my children?” he demanded. “Do you truly believe I am capable of such evil?”
Livia stopped screaming. The conviction in his voice shook her. She blinked, her wild eyes searching his
face.
Seeing her hesitation, Adrian immediately softened his posture. The aggression vanished, replaced by a
look of utter heartbreak.
He stepped forward and gently took her mud–stained hands in his.
“My poor Livia,” he choked out, his voice trembling. “I had no idea.”
He looked at her torn dress and bruised arms. Tears welled in his eyes, glistening under the lights.
“I didn’t know you suffered so much while you were gone,” Adrian whispered. “If I had known…”
He let out a ragged breath, then his expression hardened. He turned his head slightly, glaring back toward
the Stone villa.
“It is her,” Adrian hissed, his voice dripping with venom. “It has to be Amelia.”
Livia flinched at the name.
“That girl has my blood in her veins,” Adrian spat. “Yet she betrays us like this? She frames her own father and tortures her own mother?”
He squeezed Livia’s hands tightly.
“I swear to you, Livia,” Adrian vowed, his eyes burning with intensity. “I will make her pay I will avenge every second of pain she caused you.”
Livia looked at him. She saw the man she had spent thirty years with. His anger felt real. His concern felt

The doubt in her heart evaporated.
“Yes,” Livia murmured, nodding frantically. “It is her. It is all her plot.”
She leaned into him, her body sagging with relief. “She is an ungrateful monster.”
Ethan stood by the car, rubbing his temples. He felt drained to his very core.
“Enough,” Ethan said, his voice hoarse. “Please, let’s just go.”
He couldn’t bear to stand on the street anymore. It was humiliating.
“We will investigate everything later,” Ethan promised, opening the car door. “Just get in.”
Caleb watched his parents. He felt a pang of disappointment at his mother’s blind trust, but he said nothing. He just wanted this night to end.
“Get in, Mom,” Caleb said quietly.
Livia climbed into the backseat. The leather was soft. The car was warm.
“I am safe now,” she whispered to herself.
She closed her eyes, exhaustion finally claiming her. She fell asleep almost instantly.
Adrian slid in beside her. He watched her breathing even out.
In the shadows of the car, the mask fell away.
The loving mate vanished. A cold, bloodthirsty glint flickered in Adrian’s eyes as he stared at his sleeping
mate.
(Amelia’s POV)
Inside the banquet hall, the air had cleared. The tension from the confrontation dissipated as I calmed the
guests.
“Now,” I announced with a smile. “It is time for cake.”
The double doors swung open. Agnes Miller walked in, pushing a massive cart.
Gasps of awe rippled through the crowd.
The cake was enormous. It stood eight layers high, towering over Agnes.
It wasn’t just a cake; it was a masterpiece. It was shaped like a magnificent castle, with towers and balconies made of sugar and frosting.
On the very top, standing on the highest turret, was a doll. It was crafted from fondant, wearing a replica of
my gown, looking down at the world with a regal expression.
I stared at it, stunned.
“This…” I started, turning to Seraphina.

Seraphina stood beside me, wringing her hands slightly.
“I designed it,” she admitted, a shy smile on her face. “Do you like it?”

I suddenly remembered the sketchbook she had been carrying around for the past month. She had been
so secretive about it.
“You did this?” I asked, my voice soft.
“I wanted it to be special,” Seraphina said, looking at the cake critically. “I hope it isn’t too much.”
“It is perfect,” I said, feeling tears prick my eyes. “Mom, it is the best gift I have ever received.”
The lights in the hall dimmed. The candles on the castle flickered, casting a warm glow over the room.
I stepped forward. I interlaced my fingers and pressed them against my chest.
I closed my eyes.
*Moon Goddess,* I prayed silently. *Please let everyone who loves me find peace and joy.*
I opened my eyes and blew out the candles.
Cheers erupted around me.
Jaxon and Seraphina stepped up. Together, we cut the first slice.
We handed out cake to the guests. The sweetness filled the air, and laughter returned to the party.
“Let’s dance!” Seraphina called out happily.
Natasha didn’t need to be told twice. She grabbed a young man from the crowd and dragged him onto the
dance floor, her energy infectious.
Music swelled, filling the hall.
I stepped back, watching the happiness around me.
A soft whirring sound approached. I turned to see Theodore rolling his wheelchair to my side.
He looked up at me. His golden eyes were serious amidst the celebration.
“You are incredible,” Theodore said.
“But?” I asked, hearing the unspoken word in his tone.
“But I was terrified,” he admitted. His voice was low, meant only for me.
He reached out and took my hand. His fingers were warm and strong.
“You used yourself as bait,” Theodore said, his brow furrowing. “Adrian is a desperate Alpha. He is dangerous. Watching you confront him… my heart wouldn’t stop racing.”
I squeezed his hand gently.

“I had to do it, Theo,” I explained calmly. “I need to send him to prison. I need him to face the law.”
I looked over at Grandfather Alaric, who was eating cake with a small smile.

“Grandfather still had hope for them,” I said. “I had to destroy that hope completely. Only then will the
Stone family be safe.”
Theodore sighed. He understood, but the worry lingered in his gaze.
I smiled mischievously. I leaned down, bringing my lips close to his ear.
“I am sorry for scaring you,” I whispered, my voice dropping to a husky purr.
Theodore stiffened slightly.
