Chapter 381: Octavia’s Sacrifice
Chapter 381: Octavia’s Sacrifice
(Amelia’s POV)
Od’s Paints?
I slowly clapped my hands together. The sharp sound cut clearly through the howling winter wind.
Griffin was still on the ground, gasping for breath. I looked down at his pathetic, trembling form.
“Let us make a deal, Griffin,” I said casually. “Tell me the name of the mysterious backer behind your pack.”
I watched his bruised chest heave as he tried to process my words.
“Give me the evidence of their crimes,” I continued. “Do that, and I might consider leaving you alive.”
My words made Griffin struggle up from the frozen earth. A violent flash of panic crossed his swollen
eyes.
He swayed on his feet, spitting out a mouthful of blood. His gaze was frantic as he stared at me.
“Just how many secrets do you actually hold?” he demanded harshly.
I looked down at his miserable, battered state from my superior position. My expression remained entirely
cold.
“You only need to know one thing,” I answered flatly. “I know far more than you could ever think.”
Griffin suddenly let out a bark of extreme anger. He laughed, the sound grating and desperate.
“You are far too arrogant, Amelia!” he mocked, his face twisting into an ugly sneer. “You are completely
delusional.”
He glared at me, convinced of his own twisted logic.
“Since you already know a powerful force backs our pack, you should know better,” he spat. “Trying to take
them down alongside us is just courting death.”
He wiped the blood from his chin, his eyes gleaming with malicious certainty.
“Once that big shot makes a move, you will surely die,” he threatened.
I did not even blink at his desperate words. Instead, a trace of deep contempt surfaced in my sapphire
eyes.
I slowly reached into my pocket, my fingers brushing against cold metal. I pulled out a long, slender silver
needle.
I twirled the deadly weapon lazily between my fingers. The silver glinted under the grey winter sky.
I took a slow, deliberate step forward. Then another, until the toe of my boot rested firmly on his shadow.
I leaned in close, lowering my voice into a chilling whisper.

“I dared to touch the Drake family for one simple reason,” I revealed softly. “I am doing this exactly because I am targeting that big shot.”
Griffin’s pupils shrank to the size of pinpricks. His heart pounded so loudly I could hear the terrified rhythm.
I did not bother looking at his horrified face for another second. I turned my back on the broken Alpha heir.
Adrian was still slumped on the ground nearby. He had completely given up resisting, looking like a deflated balloon.
I reached down and grabbed his collar, lifting him up like a dead dog. I dragged him over to Natasha without breaking a sweat.
“Take this trash to the police station,” I ordered her.
(Author’s POV)
After Amelia left the courtyard, Griffin stood alone in the biting cold. He was covered in dirt, blood, and
utter humiliation.
He dragged his battered body back into the Drake Pack House. The warmth of the mansion did nothing to
thaw the ice in his veins.
The head butler was waiting anxiously by the grand entrance. His face was grim and pale.
“Young Master, Matriarch Octavia is waiting for you in the family chapel,” the butler informed him quietly.
Griffin nodded stiffly and headed for the nearest washroom. He quickly cleaned the blood from his face and straightened his torn clothes.
He took a deep breath before pushing open the heavy wooden doors of the chapel.
Dim candlelight flickered across the stone walls of the sacred room. The thick smoke from burning
candles filled the air.
Despite the incense, nothing could mask the deep, bone–chilling scent of decay that clung to the old
mansion.
Octavia sat straight–backed at the head of a long, polished oak table. Her withered hands were slowly
playing with a heavy, antique rosary.
She stared silently at her heavily bruised grandson. For a long time, she did not say a single word.
The silence in the room was suffocating and heavy.
Suddenly, the worn string of the rosary snapped between her bony fingers.
The wooden beads cascaded down, bouncing and rolling across the cold stone floor. The crisp, clattering sound felt incredibly ominous in the quiet room.
Octavia lowered her eyes to look at the scattered beads. Then, she slowly raised her head.
“Go and bring Lance Drake to me,” she ordered the butler standing by the door.
Chapter 301 Octavia’s Sacrifice
A few moments later, Lance Drake appeared at the arched doorway of the chapel.
He was the son of Lyra and Carlos Drake, making him Amelia’s cousin. Yet, he looked nothing like the
monsters in his family.
Unlike Griffin’s dark and gloomy presence, Lance radiated the energy of an innocent, sunny young man.
He walked into the smoky room with a bright, warm smile.
“Grandma! Cousin Griffin!” he called out affectionately.
Looking at his cheerful face, one would never guess the Drake family was currently sinking into a massive
crisis.
When Octavia saw Lance, the vicious coldness on her wrinkled face instantly softened.
Lance walked over and acted cute, gently hugging his grandmother’s shoulders.
He then looked around, his bright eyes blinking innocently.
“Has the family run into some trouble?” he asked casually. “I really want to help share the burden.”
Griffin forced his bruised face into a stiff, unconvincing smile.
“It is nothing major, Lance,” he lied vaguely. “Just some minor business issues.”
Octavia played along smoothly, patting Lance’s hand.
“We just haven’t seen you in a while,” she said warmly. “I simply missed my grandson.”
Lance beamed at her words, puffing out his chest proudly.
“I will follow Griffin and work hard for the pack from now on,” he declared earnestly.
He paused, his sunny expression faltering slightly into a look of righteous sadness.
“I miss my mother, Lyra, very much,” he admitted softly. “But she abandoned my father when danger
struck.”
He shook his head, his voice turning firm. “I will never forgive her for that cowardice.”
This statement pleased Octavia immensely. A rare, genuine smile touched her thin lips.
“Good boy,” she praised. “I will let you train alongside Griffin very soon.”
Lance hugged her once more before turning to leave the room.
The heavy wooden doors closed securely behind him. The oppressive, heavy atmosphere instantly choked
the chapel once again.
Octavia let out a long, ragged sigh. A flash of absolute, desperate resolve appeared in her cloudy grey
eyes.
She slowly opened her mouth, her voice raspy and ancient.
Chapter 301 Octavia’s Secrifice
“I am already at the end of my years, Griffin,” she told him. “I have nothing left in this world to hold onto.”
She leaned forward, her gaze piercing through the candlelight.
“I have decided to step forward,” she announced. “I will take every single crime upon myself.”
Griffin gasped, stepping forward in shock.
“I will trade my life to buy a way out for you and Lance,” she continued firmly. “The Drake Pack bloodline
must survive this storm.”
