Chapter 394: Lance’s Trick
Chapter 394: Lance’s Trick
(Amelia’s POV)
Seraphina looked at me with a troubled expression, clearly caught between pity and caution.
Lance was still on the couch, red–rimmed eyes fixed on me, looking every bit the wounded wolf pup.
I smiled and said, “Fine. You can stay.”
Lance’s entire body visibly relaxed. He quickly wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes and forced out a grateful smile.
“Thank you, Amelia,” he said softly, his voice carefully pitched to sound humble. “I won’t cause any trouble.”
The maid stepped forward and asked where the guest should be arranged.
Seraphina glanced at me first, waiting for my signal. I gave a small nod.
She sighed and told the maid to settle Lance in the West House.
After the maid led Lance away, Seraphina turned to me with obvious worry written across her face.
“Are you sure about this?” she asked quietly. “The Drake Pack wolves are ruthless. Lance may share your blood, but he clearly sides with them.”
She lowered her voice further. “He looks pitiful now, but this could all be an act. He might be here to avenge Carlos and Octavia.”
I just gave a simple sound of acknowledgment and didn’t explain further.
Seraphina studied my face for a long moment, then pressed her lips together and said nothing more.
She knew that expression. It meant I had already made up my mind.
My plan had always been to bring down the entire Drake Pack.
That naturally included Lance.
According to the investigation files Silas had gathered, Lance had not yet touched the Drake Pack’s core
industries. But he was far from clean.
He had been playing this game since high school.
He used his harmless, handsome face to perform whatever role each woman needed. He used psychological suggestion and emotional manipulation to make she–wolves completely devoted to him.
He once pretended to go bankrupt. He convinced a former partner to sell her body to fund his lifestyle.

When he grew tired of her, he called her dirty. He tormented her mentally, day after day, until she broke completely and took her own life.
He watched without blinking.
There was another girl. Pure and naive. He guided her toward vanity and recklessness until she died on a
cosmetic surgeon’s table.
He never killed anyone with his own hands. But several girls were dead because of him.
Since Lance had walked through our door on his own, I was happy to play along.
Inside my mind, Ava let out a low growl thick with disgust.
*“This hypocrite is rotten to the core,” she snarled. *“I want to tear out his throat right now.“*
I quietly soothed her. *“Prey is more satisfying when it dies in despair,“* I told her. *“Let him enjoy his little performance first.“*
Ava went quiet, though her contempt didn’t fade.
Jaxon came home that evening.
When he heard that I had taken in the injured Lance, he frowned. It was rare to see that expression on his
face.
“That boy is not as harmless as he looks,” he said, his voice carrying the weight of a warning.
Seraphina immediately tensed. “What do you mean?”
Jaxon let out a slow breath and explained.
Lance had caused the deaths of several young women. One of them was his own cousin within the Drake
family.
The Drake Pack had buried the story, but Jaxon had still learned the truth. The girl had taken her own life
because of Lance.
It was a relationship that violated every ethical boundary. The girl had been crushed under the weight of pack judgment and her own guilt. And Lance had been the one who started it all.
He had drawn her in deliberately. Then, when she fell apart, he stepped back and watched with cold
indifference. She had no way out. She broke.
“I’m worried he’s here to use the same method on you,” Jaxon said, looking directly at me.
I met his gaze calmly. “I already know all of this.”
He blinked.
“That wound on his body?” I added. “He did that to himself. Every cut, every bruise. It was all staged to

make us feel sorry for him.”
Seraphina let out a sharp breath.
“Then why did you let him stay?” she asked.
I looked at them both and kept my voice steady.
“Because if Lance wants to play psychological games, I want him to experience what a real mental collapse feels like.”
Jaxon stared at me for a long moment.
Then, slowly, the tension in his shoulders eased. He gave a single nod and said nothing more.

(Author’s POV)
After settling into the West House, Lance stood at the window and looked across at the East House.
The lights over there were warm and bright.
Before coming here, he had done his research on Amelia Stone.
Talented. Wealthy. Connected to the most powerful pack in the Northern Territories.
In his mind, the reason she had agreed to be marked and bonded to a crippled wolf like Theodore was
simple. She wanted that face and the power that came with being the future Alpha King’s mate.
Lance touched the edge of the windowsill and smiled slowly to himself.
He had a good face too. Everyone said so.
And unlike Theodore, his body was whole. He could walk, run, fight.
Add in the forbidden thrill of the situation, the danger, the secrecy.
He was completely certain Amelia would feel something eventually.
Women always did.
(Amelia’s POV)
I finished tending to the moonlight herbs in the greenhouse and came back inside.
After a shower, I sat on the edge of the bed and picked up my phone, ready to video call Theodore.
Before I could dial, a message notification appeared.
