Chapter 435: One More Kiss
Chapter 435: One More Kiss
(Author’s POV)
Amelia pushed Theodore’s wheelchair through the front door of the eastern estate and called out toward the hallway.
“Mom! We’re back!
Footsteps came quickly from the inner hall. Seraphina appeared around the corner, her eyes already glistening before she’d even reached them.
“Your father’s home,” she said, her voice catching slightly. “He just got back from the station. He’s in the
shower now.”
Amelia exhaled.
The tension she’d been carrying in her shoulders for hours finally released. A real smile crossed her face- not the controlled, public kind, but something genuine and quiet.
Seraphina wiped the corner of her eye and only then seemed to register the figure behind Amelia.
Theodore offered her a warm, easy smile from the wheelchair.
“I hope it’s not too much trouble,” he said. “I’ll need to stay the night again.”
Seraphina waved her hand immediately.
“You’re always welcome here, Theodore. Stay as long as you need.”
She started to ask whether the two of them had eaten, then stopped herself, clearly remembering
something.
“I caught the barbecue segment during the livestream,” she said, with a small, knowing look. “Never mind. Go rest. Both of you.”
Amelia confirmed that her father was safe, then turned the wheelchair down the hall toward her own
bedroom.
Theodore made no move toward the guest room.
He simply followed her in.
The moment the door swung open, Green, Black, and White came bounding out from their respective corners in a flurry of movement – circling Amelia’s feet, climbing over each other, demanding attention all
at once.
Amelia went to the cabinet and pulled out a small canister of freeze–dried treats.

She held it out to Theodore.
“Feed them while I shower?”
Theodore took the canister without complaint.
Clair
Black ate immediately and enthusiastically, practically inhaling each treat the moment it left Theodore’s
fingers.
White accepted each piece with quiet, almost polite precision – taking it gently, chewing thoroughly,
waiting for the next.
Green turned his head to one side and looked at Theodore’s outstretched hand as though it were mildly
offensive.
The standoff lasted an unreasonable amount of time.
Theodore held his position. Green held his.
Eventually, the smell of the treat proved impossible to ignore. Green’s head dipped – the smallest, most reluctant motion, as though he were granting a royal concession to a lesser being.
Theodore brought the treat forward. Green snatched it and retreated to his corner without a single
backward glance.
Theodore shook his head slowly.
Even after giving in, the snake had somehow managed to look completely unbothered – as if he’d done
Theodore the favor.
With all three fed, Theodore’s gaze drifted.
Almost without his permission, it moved to the frosted glass of the bathroom door.
Amelia’s silhouette moved softly behind it, half–obscured by steam. The sound of running water filled the quiet room. He could see the outline of her- the curve of her shoulder, the tilt of her head.
He felt his throat tighten.
Something warm and unhurried stirred in his chest, and he didn’t try to push it away.
About ten minutes later, the bathroom door pushed open.
Amelia stepped out with her cheeks flushed a soft pink from the heat, her hair loose and damp, something
warm and unhurried about the way she moved.
She had barely taken two steps.
Theodore reached out and drew her into his arms.

His hand came up to the back of her neck, and he tilted his head down to meet her lips – the kiss deep and slow, full of everything he hadn’t said out loud all evening.
In their respective corners, Green, Black, and White quietly retreated further into their beds.
Apparently, this was none of their business.
They stayed like that until neither of them could breathe properly.
Only then did they pull apart.
Amelia lifted her hand and rested her palm lightly against the side of his face. The teasing note in her
voice was unmistakable.
“Were you holding that in all evening?”
Theodore caught her hand and held it.
When he spoke, his voice was low and a little rough.
“Yes,” he said. “I want you. You know that.”
He paused.
“But I’m going to wait until my legs have fully healed. And when that day comes-” His thumb moved slowly
across her knuckles. “I intend to give you something worth waiting for.”
Amelia tilted her head.
With a perfectly straight face, she offered to take matters into her own hands in the meantime.
Theodore shook his head.
Firm. Not unkind. Completely certain.
“I want us to get there together,” he said. “At the right time.”
–
Something in Amelia shifted at that something quiet and real, beneath all the sharpness she usually kept
in place.
“I’ll hold you to it,” she said softly. “I’ll remember.”
The warmth between them settled into something gentler.
Theodore exhaled slowly, then said he was going to shower.
He paused before turning the wheelchair toward the door.
“Tomorrow will be long,” he said, without looking back. “Legal matters with your father, loose ends from today. You should sleep.”
He got as far as the doorway.
Then he stopped. Glanced back.

“I want a goodbye kiss.”
Amelia laughed despite herself – a real one, unguarded, the kind that happened before she could decide whether to allow it.
She crossed the room and gave him one.
That night, Stone Botanicals‘ sabotaged equipment wasn’t the only thing dominating every feed.
Theodore’s name was trending across every major platform.
Clips of him rising from his wheelchair during the livestream had spread within the hour. The commentary was relentless – people marveling that Amelia had apparently accomplished what an entire roster of top specialists had failed to do. That Theodore was recovering. That the Crimson Moon Pack’s heir was no longer a question mark.
Every voice that had once sneered about a broken Alpha paired with a low–rank nobody she–wolf from a weak Pack had gone conspicuously quiet.
The new consensus was simple: this was the strongest bond the Northern Packs had seen in a generation.
Griffin stared at his phone.
The hashtags scrolled past, one after another.
The tendons along the back of his hand stood out sharply against his skin.
From the doorway, one of his men spoke.
“Alpha Griffin – Ms. Stone has arrived.”
Griffin didn’t look up immediately.
“Take her to the guest room,” he said. “Tell her to shower.”
When Celine came back out, she crossed the room toward him with a carefully arranged expression.
Soft. A little shy. Calculated to land exactly right.
She had read the room the moment she arrived. Griffin had taken hit after hit these past weeks, and that
made him reachable in a way he normally wasn’t. She knew better than to waste a moment like this.
Vulnerable men were easy to reach.
She had been waiting for an opening like this for a long time. Tonight, she told herself, she would finally
–
become his in every sense that mattered.
“Come here,” Griffin said. His voice was flat.

Celine crossed to him barefoot.
Things moved quickly after that.
And then, at the worst possible moment, she spoke.
She asked him, in a small voice, to be gentle with her tonight.
Griffin’s brow pulled together.
He let out a short, humorless sound – not quite a laugh.
“What exactly,” he said, “do you think you’ve done to earn that?”
There was nothing gentle in his voice. Only barely leashed aggression – the kind that had been building for
days, looking for somewhere to go.
Celine’s hands trembled where they pressed against his abdomen.
She steadied herself.
Then she said quietly:
“…Because I’m pregnant.”
