Celine immediately rushed to Livia’s side, her eyes brimming with tears as she pleaded with

Adrian.

Please, punish me instead of Caleb! He only made mistakes trying to defend my honor. It’s all my fault, every bit of it!Her voice trembled with emotion.

Caleb, unable to bear seeing his sister in distress, pulled his mother aside and stood next to Celine. He faced Patriarch Alaric with a resigned determination in his eyes.

This has nothing to do with Celine,he insisted firmly. It was entirely my idea. I ask that you punish only me, Grandfather.

Celine shook her head, choking back sobs. If it weren’t for me, Caleb would never have asked Katya to do such a thing.

Caleb’s eyes reddened as he maintained his stance. This has nothing to do with Celine,he repeated, facing his grandfather fearlessly. I accept whatever punishment you deem appropriate, but please don’t blame her.

Patriarch Alaric let out a cold snort. You foolish boy! Even now you’re still protecting your adopted sister.

Caleb straightened his shoulders, standing tall. One must take responsibility for one’s actions. This was my doing alone and has nothing to do with Celine.

Alaric’s anger flared. He swung his cane at Caleb, the silvertipped end glinting dangerously in the light. Instead of dodging, Caleb stood his ground, taking the full force of the blow.

Livia cried out in anguish, attempting to rush forward, but Adrian held her back.

Leave him be,” Adrian commanded sternly. This is what he deserves.

Livia could only stamp her foot in frustration, shooting hateful glares at Amelia, whom she blamed for Caleb’s predicament.

(Amelia’s POV)

I watched as Caleb refused to dodge the blow, a large bruise forming on his forehead where blood began to seep. Patriarch Alaric’s eyes softened slightly with concern despite his anger.

What do you think we should do about this?he asked me, clearly conflicted.

I smiled halfjokingly. Well, we could follow Alpha King Gideon’s suggestion and expel Caleb from the pack.

The moment those words left my mouth, Adrian’s face darkened to an alarming degree, his eyes cold and threatening. Even Patriarch Alaric frowned slightly, clearly displeased with my suggestion.

I knew the truthno matter how disappointed Alaric was with Caleb, he would never truly banish him over this incident. After all, I was just the longlost granddaughter who’d returned, while Caleb was the grandson he’d watched grow up for over twenty years. The scales of affection were hardly balanced.

Let’s not make too much of this,I said, softening my stance. Caleb should be punished for his actions, but I’ll leave that to Uncle Adrian to handle. This is my welcome banquet, after all, and I’d rather not dampen the mood further.

I’d already achieved my goal and saw no need to press the issue. Alaric’s furrowed brow relaxed, and he sternly ordered Caleb to apologize to me.

Though clearly reluctant, Caleb swallowed his pride and bowed his head. I apologizecousin,he said, emphasizing the word cousinwith unmistakable bitterness.

I smiled graciously, completely unbothered. It’s quite alright, cousin. Just be more careful next time.I deliberately stressed next time,” knowing full well that Caleb wouldn’t let this humiliation go unanswered.

Jaxon spoke up, his voice carrying across the room. Adrian, Livia, it seems you need to teach your children some manners. We can’t have them embarrassing the pack at important gatherings.”

Adrian nodded stiffly. I admit defeat this time. I’ll discipline Caleb properly and ensure he doesn’t act so rashly again. He turned to Caleb. Take Celine and go change your clothes.

Without a word, Caleb grabbed Celine’s wrist and strode quickly from the banquet hall.

(Thirdperson’s POV)

With the drama concluded, Patriarch Alaric sighed and turned to Alpha King Gideon. I apologize for tonight’s spectacle. We’ve made quite a scene.

Gideon, however, was looking at Amelia with evident satisfaction. If not for Caleb’s little performance, I might never have discovered just how clever and capable my grandson’s chosen mate truly is. She’s quite impressive.

Patriarch Alaric beamed with pride. Your high praise of my granddaughter is a great honor to

her.

The guests exchanged meaningful glances, now certain that Gideon had publicly acknowledged the union between Theodore and Amelia. The Alphas who had previously shown interest in Celine began to stir with renewed hopenow that she was no longer betrothed to Theodore, they might have a chance.

Ronan’s objective for the evening had been to secure Celine’s favor. Despite the embarrassing scene, he still saw potential in the alliance. In his assessment, Jaxon lacked political ambition and skill, meaning the Stone Pack would inevitably remain under Adrian’s controland by extension, his son’s. The fact that Adrian would rather marry his biological daughter to the crippled Theodore than offer his adopted daughter spoke volumes about how much he valued Celine.

Winning Celine would mean securing the Stone family’s support in the future. With their backing, what could stop him from crushing Theodore completely?

As the commotion settled, Seraphina noticed new arrivals at the entrance to the hall. She and Jaxon moved together to greet these final guests.

Damien stood with his hands in his pockets, his expression sour. He clearly had no interest in attending the welcome banquet and was merely going through the motions at his father’s insistence, exchanging perfunctory pleasantries with Jaxon and Seraphina.

Then he heard a familiar female voice from the center of the hall, and his attention immediately sharpened. Having resolved the evening gown incident, Amelia was now standing confidently before the large screen, holding up the hem of her dress.

Tonight is my welcome celebration, she announced with poise. We’ve had a small hiccup, but it’s been resolved. I hope all our guests enjoy the food and drinks. Later this evening, we have some special entertainment prepared for everyone who has honored us with their presence.
