Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 98

Sam’s POV

When we returned to the palace, Ellie and Reagan disappeared for days. Leaving me alone with Caspian.

While I waited for Ellie to return, I spent time with Caspian as he wasn’t prepared to let me out of his sight. It meant we did everything together. Well, most things. He wouldn’t even let me spend time with Sasha.

J had to accompany him to his office and attend meetings. Watch him as he reads reports. I was so bored. But knowing who he is now and the responsibilities he has, I didn’t complain as people’s lives depend on his decisions.

When he had some free time, he took me out on dates so that we could get to know each other better. I enjoyed his company, especially when he was being goofy. I bet that’s a side of him that few people see. It made me feel like I was getting to know the man he truly was.

Eventually, Ellie and Reagan appeared, questioning when our mating ceremony was going to be. “As quickly as possible, before she changes her mind,” Caspian told them.

Considering how unwilling Ellie was to be in a relationship because of her curse: I couldn’t believe how affectionate she had become toward Reagan. It made me believe that if I accepted Caspian as my mate, I could be just as happy. My only request was that we don’t have a public event, we do it with our family present. Caspian agreed, and a date was set.

I felt nauseous as I stood outside the door to the palace gardens. I paced back and forth. “It will be okay, Sam. I’m here for you, whatever you need,” Ellie told me, holding me at arm’s length. She pulled me to her and told me how proud she was of me. Especially with everything | have overcome. “If he hurts you, l am more than capable of making him suffer. You just say the word, and they will never find his body.” She whispered in my ear.

“He knows,” I responded, snickering. She never changes.

I took a deep breath as I told her | was ready. But as I pulled away from her, “Stop. Stop,” she said in a panicked tone. “Your chain has gotten caught on my steeve. Can’t let anything happen to that baby, not considering what you went through to get it.” She muttered as she tried to unhook the clasp from her lace sleeve.

It wasn’t Ellie’s fault; the clasp on the chain had been damaged while it was in Lily’s possession. Caspian had offered to replace the chain.

Since it was the original one my mom wore, I said no. Maybe after the ceremony, I will consider it. Even though it was broken right now, it was perfect as it was.

She gave me a reassuring nod before pushing the doors open. The place was as beautiful as it had been last time. This time, there were pink and white flowers everywhere.

I froze as I began having flashbacks of what had happened here last time. “It’s okay, Sam. You say the word, and the ceremony gets moved to a different location. The important thing is the man at the altar.” This place is special to Caspian; it has to be here. It was his day too.

“Who am 1 kidding? I can’t do this,” I told Ellie. Who wrapped her arm around me?

“What’s going through your mind, Sam?” she asked.

“I am a nobody, mated to a somebody. I will never be enough.”

Ellie hugged me. “You are somebody, Sam, but for whatever reason, you just don’t see it. I wish you could see yourself as I see you. You shine brighter than any star in the sky.” I could feel the tears brimming as I thought about what she had said.Ellie took my distraction to pull me forward, which was when I saw him. My gorgeous mate, standing at the altar in a black suit. I felt that at any moment I would wake up from this dream. How could someone as attractive and powerful as Caspian want me as a mate? That was when I realized I was surrounded by powerful people. Then there is me, a nobody.

“Everyone loves you for who you are -kind, caring, and selfless. That’s what makes you special. That’s what they all need from you,” Zola reminded me. She was right; they had all said it at some point. just didn’t hear it. But now the message is coming across loud and clear.

I walked to Caspian, who had the biggest grin on his face. “You’re stunning.” He told me just before the head of the Wolf Council appeared. Despite my negative first impression of Lincoln, he was only doing his job. Lincoln was holding an old, thick book in his hands.
