Chapter 11-1

Talia’s POV

The arrogant voice slices through the bar’s atmosphere, and my blood cools instantly.

Arrogant posture, lazy smirk and a small crowd of men orbiting him like obedient moons. I recognize him instantly, the way you recognize a bad smell before finding out where it’s coming from.

Nick Thorne Aires’s friend, and Imema’s most devoted admirer.

And naturally, the person who hates me the most.

From the first day I entered Aires‘ world, Nick has treated me like a personal inconvenience. And after Imena returned, he became unbearable.

If she coughed or frowned, he acted like the world was ending and called Aires like he was the only one who could stop the sky from falling.

He has told me to my face to “step aside” for “the real thing, ” and started calling me ‘the housewife‘.

My hosting skills became my only identity, as if I was only supposed to exist inside the four walls of the house… dismissing Wea

Now he stops directly in front of me, blocking my path like he owns the space.

“The little housewife is out of her cage today! Shouldn’t you be home, perfecting some trash recipe to keep your Alpha happy? A proper mate shouldn’t be wandering around places like this.”

Electra’s body tenses up like a spring, ready to attack him if needed. Nick whistles mockingly. “Oh, are you about to cry? Don’t tell me you can’t even take a joke, Housewife?”

His friends pile on the insults.

“Be a little open–minded, Mrs. Perseus! You came all the way here just to stalk your husband?”

“Honestly, it’s embarrassing for Aires to be constantly dealing with your nagging! Leave him and Imema alone!”

“What’s wrong with being called a housewife when it’s all you’re good for!”

“How can you even compare to Imema? She’s an Altheria University graduate, you know… actually, what would a noob like

you know about it? It’s one of five music conservatories in the world.”

Nick shoots her a look of pure contempt. “Living under a rock, sweetheart? There’s a whole world you don’t know.”

Electra turns to me, her voice loud with confusion. “Who is this? No one even spoke to him, and yet, he’s like a mosquito that won’t stop buzzing. So rude.”

I keep my eyes on Nick, sneering.

“Oh, nothing. He’s just one of Imema’s lapdogs, reporting every sigh and sniffle to his mistress.”

Electra’s eyes light up, her anger evaporating into delight. ““Ohhh. So that’s what he is. Imema’s loyal puppy. Wow! Suddenly everything makes sense.‘

Nick’s smile cracks. But before he can snap back, I give him a smile overloaded with sweetness.

“Oh, Mr. Simp, don’t mind us. We’re only joking about how obsessed you seem with a certain someone. But we don’t mean it! You’re not upset, are you?”

Electra catches on instantly. “No way! Don’t tell me a grown wolf can’t handle a little teasing?”

The smug grins on his friends‘ faces vanish. They shuffle in their places, suddenly feeling uncomfortable when their taunts are being fired back.

“You’re right… after all, a donkey only knows how to bray, and a simp only knows how to lick someone’s feet, even if he ends up with nothing.”

“Yeah, let’s go somewhere else…”

We turn to leave, and I feel Nick’s furious glare burning into my spine.

One of his pack tries to rally. “They have a death wish! Calling Nick a simp? He’s Imema’s… he’s her…”

The words die on his tongue, because it’s the truth.

Another tries, desperate. “He’s her saviour!”

The others chime in weakly. “Yeah! Her knight in shining armor!”

We don’t look back towards the angry yapping of dogs whose leash has just snapped.

Nick’s POV

Just then, a gentle voice cuts through the atmosphere like a balm to my stung pride.

“Nick? Why is everyone gathered out here? The private room is ready and waiting for us!”

I turn to find my salvation waiting for me, my Imema approaching on Aires‘ side.

His imposing Alpha aura makes my skin prickle, not letting me forget for a single moment that he is the wolf whose command we fall to.

And half a step beside him is Imema.. petite and delicate, a vision of beauty.

My irritation evaporates, replaced by a rush of purpose.

This is my moment.

I stride over immediately, “Alpha, Imema! You will not believe who I just encountered… Talia! Here, of all places. And she wasn’t just here, she was talking brazenly about ‘going out to have fun.‘ Can you imagine? A woman in her position, with such looge morals?”

I lean in, my voice dripping with righteous indignation. “Clearly, she has too much idle time. Wasn’t she supposed to make medicinal meals for Imema? Instead of wandering around, shouldn’t she be at home cooking properly? Maybe, it’s too little for her to do. She should be responsible for all three of your daily meals. It’s the least she could do, given… everything she has done.”

I turn to Alpha Aires, my ultimate authority. “You cannot let this kind of behavior stand, Alpha! It’s an insult to the pack.”

Imema’s lovely brow furrows with concern. Not for herself… never for herself, but for others. “Having fun“?” she says softly, then turns those worried eyes to him. “Aires, it’s so late. You don’t think… she left Aeson alone at home, do you?”

I watch as the mention of Talia’s name darkens Aires’s

expression.

Imema studies his face, then speaks again. “Aires… are you sure Aeson will be alright by himself? You know, his health isn’t the

best-”

Aires’s jaw tightens. “Aeson is at my parents‘ manor.‘

I look around at the stunned faces all around us. He took the pup away? Maybe, he is already teaching her a lesson. Excellent!

But the next moment, my mood dips. That shameless slut! Instead of crawling back, she’s here?!

Imema pauses, and I see pity dawn on her face. “Oh, Aires… Talia has been caring for Aeson at home all this time, barely stepping out. Anyone would feel exhausted eventually.”

She lowers her head, voice full of guilt, and the sight makes my blood boil.

“It’s my fault. I’ve had her preparing medicine for me for so long, burdening her. I can’t blame her if she no longer wishes to continue.”

WHAT?

I feel heat rushing straight to my head. Before she can finish her merciful speech, I cut in, my voice shaking with anger.

“What do you mean she doesn’t want to continue? That bloody housewife is refusing to make your medicine now? After she pushed you into the lake and worsened your condition? How dare she just walk away! The audacity of that shameless bitch!”

Imema quickly grabs my arm, her touch sending me spiralling with ecstacy. “Nick, stop it. I told you, it was an accident. It had nothing to do with her-”

I pull my gaze back to the Alpha. How can he be so clueless? This is his moment to act and finally put the Omega in her place. “Alpha, how can you let this slide? Will you let her keep bullying Imema while pretending to be a caring–‘
