Chapter 117-1
Talia’s POV
The Ferris wheel lights flicker on, painting the evening sky in soft, colorful hues. The cheerful screams of children and the distant melody of carnival music should feel joyful, but when my phone buzzes and Aires’s name appears, a heavy knot forms in my stomach.
I almost don’t answer. There’s nothing left
between us but bitterness.
Yet, curiosity wins.
“Aires.” My voice comes out flat, guarded.
“Are you calling about the divorce

papers?”
Silence on the other end. Then his
voice comes–low, controlled, but with something dangerous simmering beneath. “Talia, I’m going to ask you some questions. I need you to be completely honest with me. Do you understand?”
“Uh? What-”
“Where are you right now?”
“Right now? At the Elephanta Joy
Amusement Park-”
“Okay. Is Aeson with you?”
My heart stutters. “No… Why would he14:31

be?”
“Are you certain?”
“Aires, what exactly are you implying?” My pulse quickens.
He exhales slowly, like he’s holding himself back. “Aeson is missing.”
The words slam into me like a hammer
to the chest. For a few seconds, the world around me tilts. The colorful lights blur, and the laughter around me turns distant
and hollow.
Just months ago, when I left the pack, I thought I was mentally prepared to leave Aeson in the trust of Aires and the

Perseus family. I had convinced myself I could walk away, because he never saw me as his mother.
But as my heart is gripped by a sheer panic, I realise with a terrifying clarity that he will always be a part of my heart. The bond between us could never break off completely, no matter how hard I try.
Before I can respond, Aires’s voice comes through again–still cold, but no longer shouting. That’s somehow worse. ”
“So help me God, Talia, if I find out he’s with you…” He pauses, like he’s swallowing the rest of the sentence. “Just tell me the truth. Is he there?”

“No! I already told you-”
“Do you have any idea where he might be? Did you ask someone to bring him to you?”
His questions feel like accusations, but there’s something underneath them I don’t recognize. Hope? Or maybe desperation.
“Aires, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I haven’t seen Aeson in weeks. You
know that.”
I heard someone say something to him. Then he paused–the sound of him scrolling through a tablet–and his anger flared even hotter.

“But I just saw the surveillance footage. There are clips showing you and your lover having fun while your son trailed behind you, looking lost and miserable. How could you? How could you be so cruel?”
“You only care about dating other men and parading around with that Capaldi fellow while your own son gets hurt in the process. Have you decided he’s in the way of your new romance? Is that why you wanted to get rid of him?”
୮
His words stab deep, and shock ripples through me, followed by a raw hurt that makes my chest tighten painfully. How could he think so little of me?

The accusations land like punches, stealing my breath
“You’re absolutely disgusting,” he continues, voice dripping with contempt. “Whatever it is- a real mother doesn’t
do that! You don’t deserve to be called a
mother at all.”
It takes a moment for me to snap out of the daze,
“Aires! What are you talking about! Why would I kidnap my son-

Tears sting my eyes, but I force them back. The pain is real, but panic for Aeson overrides everything else. Where is my baby? Is he scared? Is he hurt?
“Aires, listen to me – I would never-”
The call cuts off with a beep, snatching the ground from under my feet.
I stand frozen for a moment, the phone still pressed to my ear. The hurt lingers, sharp and deep, but I push it down. There isn’t time for this, my five–year–old son is
somewhere out there alone.
But how! The Perseus family is always 14:32

meticulous about his safety, he never steps out anywhere without supervision… then how could he get lost?
I try to hold myself together for Robin’s sake, but my body betrays me. My hands begin trembling violently, and the phone nearly slips from my fingers. I sway slightly, the ground feeling unsteady beneath my feet.
Raymond notices immediately. His warm hand gently holds my elbow, steadying me. “Talia, sit down.”
He guides me to a nearby bench, his voice calm but urgent. Turning to Robin, he says softly, “Stay with her. I’ll get some water.”

he looks up at me. “Ms. Perseus? Are you okay? Who was that?”
“He’s missing…” My voice cracks. “Aeson
