Alpha's Discarded Luna (Talia) novel Chapter 130

Chapter 127

Imema’s POV

Aires’s response is barely a murmur. Mm. I know

My heart sinks. He isn’t even paying attention to what I’m saying!,

If he truly wanted to stay, he wouldn’t have answered like that. Maybe he is still thinking about her. Still planning to meet Talia.

I catch Nick’s eye across the room. He gives me a small nod, as if to say that he’ll handle everything from here.

Aires,Nick says smoothly, stepping forward, why don’t you stay with Imema for a bit? I’ll check with the doctor about her

condition.

Aires nods, distracted.

Ten minutes later, Nick returns with the doctor. The man’s expression is grave.

Ms. Volkov’s vitals are unstable. We need to run more tests to understand what’s happening.

Aires’s brow furrows. What do you mean?

The initial results are abnormal. We’ll need to repeat them to

confirm.

Nick seizes the opening immediately. Then let’s redo them. Aires, aren’t you taking Imema to see that specialist tomorrow? Bring the detailed results so he can understand her condition properly.

It makes sense. It’s practical and necessarysomething Aires

can’t say no to.

Aires nods slowly. Alright.

Relief floods through me. Talia will stay waiting again, and again, and again

Talia’s POV

The courthouse doors are about to close in a few hours.

I stare at my phone, the screen dark, Aires’s last words echoing in my head. I have to say, Imema’s timing is impeccable, as always.

Today of all days, she falls ill. Could ot be a coincidence? Possibly. But if she did it on purpose, then it’s the most foolish step she could have taken. No one wants us separated more than she does!

From what I overheard on the call, she’s stable now, or at least out of danger. The morning is lost, but the afternoon remains.

I find a café across from the courthouse, order coffee I’m not really in the mood for, and wait.

I could leave in this meantime, and use it to run errands, practice, anything. But the single thought is enough to put shackles around my feet: what if he comes and I’m not here? What if he uses my absence as an excuse to delay further?

So I wait.

Noon comes and goes. My phone sits silent on the table. No calls. No messages until I pick it up and dial again.

It rings endlessly, but I don’t stop. I call again and again. I agreed to leave with nothing. I gave him everything he wanted. The only condition isthis ends today.

After what feels like an eternity, the line clicks.

You’ve been calling nonstop.Aires’s voice is tired, edged with frustration. What’s so urgent?

My voice is cold, deliberate. Have you forgotten we’re finalizing our divorce today?

Apause. I haven’t forgotten. I informed you, there’s

situation here. I can’t leave right now.

Does this behaviour qualify as informingme!? If I hadn’t called, would he have said anything at all? Would he have remembered I exist?

I swallow the anger. Arguing is pointless now. The only thing that matters is getting him to the courthouse.

When I called earlier, Imema had just come out of emergency. You’ve been with her all morning. You should be free this afternoon, right?

Something shifts in his voice. You really want me to come that badly?

The question is strange.

We agreed yesterday,I say flatly. Alpha Aires, are you having second thoughts?

A long silence before he sighs.

I understand. I’ll be there.

When?

I’ll call you when I’m done.

Chapter 127

No.My voice hardens. I need a time.

Another pause. Two o’clock this afternoon.

Don’t back out.

I hang up before he can respond, hands shaking with anger. If he doesn’t come now, I’ll stop trusting his words and assume that he is never going to come. Not today, not ever.

I could wait on these steps until the sun set and the stars burned out, and he would still be with her. But thankfully for myself, I’m done waiting.

I pull up Electra’s number. She answers on the first ring.

Find out where Imema is,I say. Which hospital, which room. Everything.

You’re going there?

Aires won’t come to me.I stand, gathering my bag. So I’ll go to him.

This divorce is happening today. One way or another, I’m walking out of this marriage, even if I have to drag him out of her hospital room to do it.

Nick’s POV

The hospital hallway is quiet. I watch Aires slip out of Imema’s room, phone pressed to his ear, his steps quick and purposeful. My eyes narrow with suspicion.

Talia. It has to be Talia again, when the hell will this slut stop pestering him?!

I keep my steps light while I follow at a distance, staying close enough to hear. His voice is low.

You want me to come that badly?”

A pause. Okay, I’ll be there. 2:00 PM.

What on earth is wrong with this witch! And what kind of black magic has she done on Aires, who is rescheduling the date with

her!

The whole morning has gone by and she’s still shameless enough to call?!

I wait until he hangs up, then step forward casually. Let me guess. Is it Talia again?

Aires slips his phone into his pocket, ignoring my question completely.

How’s Imema’s condition? Any new updates?

It’s not looking good.I let the weight of my words settle.

Hm.His voice is distracted, still thinking about her. How much longer for the tests?

I step forward, blocking his view of the door. Another hour, maybe two. The doctor wants to run a full panel. Given her collapse this morning, they’re being thorough. Alpha, they said whether she’ll make it to her concert is still uncertain.

I watch his expression carefully, looking for cracks. He nods slowly. Stay with her while she finishes the tests. I need to step out for a bit.

Alpha, please stop for a moment. I need you to be absolutely certain about this decision, so that you don’t have any regrets

later?

What regrets?

About Talia.

Talia-!

Yes, Alpha. It’s clear how hard poor Imema is taking the tensions in your home. As a friend, she has really taken all your

worries as her own, forgetting to take care of herself in the process. She said she got up this morning, collapsed in the shower, and nearly died. She’s killing herself trying not to be a burden, Alpha.

My voice cracks. Imema’s condition is worsening, and you’re still planning to leave? What could be more important than her health right now?

His eyes are steady. The tests will take time. I’ll come back by then.

I laugh, bitter and sharp.

With due respect, Alpha, I don’t think you have the liberty to be so casual about this matter. Especially when we both know why Imema’s so sick. You promised to take care of her for your whole life, but you didn’t. Because of your mother’s opinions,

when you abandoned her on the road to marriage. And nowher life is hanging by a thread, and do you really have time to go on a date with Talia?

Something flickers in his expression, and I soften my voice.

Alpha, don’t forget about your debts. If it weren’t for Imema saving your life all those years ago, you probably wouldn’t be here. I’ve always stepped back for her. Your mother disapproved, you and Imema broke upI never held it against

final moments. That’s all.

He doesn’t respond immediately, but I know I’ve reached him.
