For three years, I gave everything to him, loved him, and my only wish was for him to love me in return. When I discovered I was pregnant, I naively though ift that would be enough to finally win his love.
He brought back his first love and their illegitimate …

Alpha’s Discarded Luna
Chapter 128
Nick’s POV

Almost an hour later, Aires steps out with the doctor again.
I move quickly. His phone is on the table. I pick it up, scroll through recent calls, and find Talia’s number.
When her voice comes through, sharp and suspicious, I don’t bother hiding my satisfaction.
“Talia, stop wasting your time. Aires’s with Imema. He’s not coming to see you.”
“Put him on.” Her voice is cold.
“He can’t talk right now. Imema needs him. Her condition is not very good, and he’s the only one keeping her stable right now. You know how it is.‘
“He promised-”
I laugh. “Promises to you don’t count. Isn’t that obvious by now?”
“Promises to you don’t count. Isn’t that obvious by now?”
She doesn’t answer.

“You know what I think?” I lean against the wall, enjoying myself. “I think you’re pathetic. Sitting outside some restaurant all day, begging a man who’s already chosen someone else. What kind of woman does that?”
Her silence stretches.
“Imema asked him to stay with her,” I add. “Just for today. And he didn’t hesitate. Didn’t mention you once. You’re not even a thought in his head.”
“You did this on purpose?”
“Of course-”
“Do you even know why I wanted to meet Aires?”
Her voice cuts through.
I sneer. “I don’t care what you’re meeting him for. All I know is, Aires is not coming to see you today. So forget about it.”
I hang up before she can respond, satisfaction curling in my chest.

I dial his number, and it rings once, then twice. Then finally, it is answered, but not by him.bAs soon as I hear Nick’s voice, I had a pretty good idea what’s happening.
Even without seeing Nick’s face, I can picture tue smug tilt of his chin, the smirk and the look of self–satisfied gleam in his eyes.
He thinks he’s won something, like this is enough to stop me.
I laugh with genuine amusement.
“Do you know why I wanted to meet Aires?”

Nick’s voice drips with contempt. “I don’t care what you’re meeting him for. All I know is, Aires is not coming to see you today. So forget about it!”
I’ve met many foolish people in my life, but Nick might take the prize. For a moment, I almost feel sorry for Imema. There’s nothing more frustrating than a teammate who’s a liability, who ruins your plans with his own blind arrogance.
If she knew what he had just done, she’d probably want to strangle him!

For one fleeting second, I consider letting it go. Letting Nick continue in his blissful ignorance, letting him and Imema discover the truth later when it’s too late. Let them realize that he just sabotaged the very thing Imema wants most.
But I’m not going to ruin my life just to spite them.
I take a deep breath. “Nick, the reason I wanted to meet with Aires is to div-
The line goes dead.
I stare at my phone, the dial tone buzzing in my ear. He hung up on me, before I could even get the words out. Before I could tell him that I’m not chasing Aires, that I’m trying to leave him.
If he heard it, he would finally co–operate with me to get Aires to the court house faster than light.
I try calling back, but it goes straight to voicemail. He’s turned the phone off.
I sit in the café for a long moment, watching the empty courthouse steps across the street. The afternoon light has
shifted, shadows lengthening across the stone. People have come and gone, couples with paperwork, lawyers with briefcases, and still Aires never came.

He was never going to come.
I should have known. Should have remembered that every promise he ever made me was conditional, contingent on nothing more important coming up.
And something more important always came up. Surprise! It was always her.
If he won’t come to me, I’ll go to him.

My lawyer’s words echo in my head as the elevator climbs. If you want a quick divorce, the best option is mediation. If this goes to court, even with both of you agreeing, there’s a good chance the court won’t grant it. Not with a child involved, not without major wrongdoing and that too, against an Alpha.
The last words were the most important caveat, I even asked about the evidence I had photos, the videos, the years of neglect, but she just shook her head.
None of that proves infidelity. Even if it did, it doesn’t affect asset division. Unless I caught them in the act, unless I had proof they’re living as a married couple, I would not get a divorce.
Before I got tangled up in this mess, I thought divorce vas 15:12

simple. You decide to leave, you sign papers, you walk away. But nothing about leaving Afres has ever been simple.
The elevator doors slide open.
Two guards block the hallway, their postures rigid, their faces blank. I step forward, and they move to block me.
“Sorry, Ms. Perseus. This floor has been reserved. No unauthorized personnel allowed.”
I pause, taking in the scene. Two more guards by the stairwell. Another stationed near the nurses‘ station. Nick has turned this entire floor into a fortress.
“By who?” I ask, though I already know the answer.
The guard doesn’t blink. “Mr. Thorne”
Of course. Nick rented out an entire hospital floor just to keep me away. To keep Aires from seeing me, from hearing what I
came to say.
I could fight it. I could demand to be let through, threaten to call security, make a scene that would draw every nurse and doctor on the floor. But what would that accomplish? More delays. More drama. More reasons for Aires to postpone, to reschedule, to forget.

And Nick would love that. He’s waiting for me to make a scene, to prove that I’m exactly what he’s always said I was: hysterical, desperate, pathetic.
I won’t give him the satisfaction.
I turn and walk back toward the elevator, my steps steady, my head high. Behind me, I hear the guards shift, surprised that I’m leaving so quietly.
But if Nick made sure Aires can’t leave that room today, I won’t waste my energy ny staying here.
Aires can choose the easy way or the hard way. But either way, this ends.
