Alpha's Discarded Luna (Talia) novel Chapter 149

Chapter 144

Talia’s POV

It feels like an eternity before Aires finally speaks, his voice cutting through the silence.

Fine.

I nod, unsurprised. I have been waiting for this answer. I knew it would come.

In that case, Mr. Perseus, I will trouble you to draft a new divorce agreement.

He gives me a long, penetrating look. His eyes narrow slightly. You do not seem surprised that I agreed. And you already had the divorce papers prepared before I even came here.

I smile faintly. Mr. Perseus, your loyalty to Mr. Thorne is legendary, and your devotion to Ms. Volkov isunshakable. With such simple terms, refusal was never an option.

Hessays nothing more. He picks up his phone and diala:15

About half an hour later, Richard walks in carrying several documents. His movements are brisk,

professional, but I catch the way his eyes flick between Aires and me. He knows something is different. He can

feel it in the air.

Alpha, here are the documents you requested.Richard holds them out. Please take a look.

Aires’s expression is indifferent, he doesn’t even glance at the papers. Give them to her.

Richard hands the documents to me. My fingers close

around them.

I spread them out on the counter and read through carefully. Two agreements: one is a divorce settlement. The other is a settlement agreement regarding Nick.

The divorce agreement is straightforward. Aeson will remain with the Perseus family. That stings, but I expected it. I knew he would never let Aeson go. And Aires will pay me a lump sum of one billion dollars. No

assets. No shares.

Just cash and a clean break.

Nick’s wrongdoing. Both parties have reached an understanding.

I pick up a pen and sign my name on both documents. I slide the divorce agreement across the counter toward him. Your turn.

Aires glances at me, his expression unreadable. Then he picks up the pen and quietly signs his name.

I take the agreement back, tucking it into my bag. After the holidays, we will head to the courthouse to finalize the paperwork. No objections, Alpha?

His tone is indifferent. None.

I set the settlement agreement aside on the counter, separate from the divorce papers.

Then I will hold onto this for now. Once Mr. Perseus and

I finalize the divorce, I will hand it over.

A spark of annoyance crosses his face. His eyes harden.

Talia, what is that supposed to mean?

am afraid I cannot fully trust you. So, I will keep the settlement agreement safe with me. Once everything is finalized, I will give it to you.

I keep my tone calm, reasonable. Mr. Thorne is currently out on bail. Delaying the submission of the settlement / agreement for a few days will not change anything. Do not worry, Mr. Perseus. I always keep my promises. I will not go back on my word.

The air turns icecold. I feel the temperature drop, the tension coiling between us like a snake ready to strike.

Richard, standing nearby, cannot help but wipe the cold. sweat from his brow. I see the nervous swallow, the

way he shifts his weight from foot to foot. He knows. He knows that Aires has a stellar reputation in the business world, a man who always keeps his promises. But with mehe seems to forget every promise he ever made.

Aires’s face grows cold. His voice is low, dangerous. Talia, if you try to lie to me, not even Raymond will be able to save you.

I slip my copy of the divorce agreement into my bag, zipping it closed. Relax. I would not have asked you for 15 this much money if I was not confident I could follow

I pause, then add, That said, I can convince Jack to treat Imema, but Imema has to hold up her end of the deal. She needs to stay here for the full week. No exceptions.

Aires’s gaze turns icy. His presence shifts, suddenly heavy with danger. He looks at me like a predator sizing up its prey, calculating angles, weaknesses, vulnerabilities.

And what if Jack decides he is dissatisfied and refuses to

treat her?

I keep my tone steady. Do not worry, Alpha. Jack has already given his word to treat Imema. As long as Ms. Volkov shows up, he will keep his promise.I pause, letting a small, knowing smile cross my lips. Of course

I let the word hang in the air. Mr. Perseus, if you are too protective to let Ms. Volkov handle even the most basic tasks, well, that is a whole different story. If you are worried Jack might give Ms. Volkov a hard time, you are welcome to tag along every day. I doubt Jack would mind. In fact, he might even be so moved by your sincerity and loyalty that he throws in your mother’s medicine as a bonus.

Richard cannot help but glance at me again. I see the 14:15 flicker in his eyes. Sincerity and loyalty. That word would

Aires hears the bite in my tone. I know he does. His jaw tightens.

His voice is calm but cold. There is no need for sarcasm. Even if Imema’s illness is cured, I will not be with her.

I let my expression shift into mock realization. I widen my eyes just a fraction. Oh, I see. Being with her openly and legitimately just does not excite you, huh? So that is it. You are into the thrill of forbidden things?

Talia Jackson!

His voice cracks through the room like thunder, taking my maiden name that almost everyone else has forgotten by now.

But I do not flinch. I let my disdain flash briefly in my eyes before I hide it behind a polite mask.

Anything else, Mr. Perseus? My voice is even, dismissive. If not, please leave. Thanks to your short tempered friend, I have a house to clean.

pick up the broom and begin tidying up the debris scattered across the floor. I hear him standing there. I

feel his gaze on my back, heavy and hot. But I do not turn around.

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, I hear his footsteps. The door opens. The door closes.

He is gone.

No one knows what Aires says to Imema, but by the next morning, she shows up after all.

She walks through the door with a fake smile plastered on her face, her voice sickly sweet. Jack, Ms. Perseus, Robin, are you all okay?

Her gaze flickers briefly toward me before she adds, You know, Nick usually is not like this. It is just that he and Ms. Perseus have hadso many misunderstandings. That is probably why things escalated so much.

Then her tone makes a gentle shift toward accusation, without making it obvious. Ms. Perseus, really you 14:15
