Chapter 167
Talia’s POV

I keep my voice calm, unhurried. “If he is sick, call a doctor. I am not a doctor, so there is no point in calling
me.”
Mildred’s shock crackles through the line. “You are Aeson’s mother! How could you say something so heartless?”
My tone remains cold. “Aires and I are getting divorced soon. Aeson belongs to the Perseus family. From now on, do not contact me about him.” I pause, letting the words settle. “Of course, if you do not want custody of Aeson, that is fine too. I will pick him up later.”
“Divorce?” Mildred’s voice rises, disbelief dripping from every syllable. “You are getting divorced?”
“That is right.” I glance at the time on my phone. “Aires should be here in five minutes.”
There is a pause. Then Mildred sneers. “I told you

having a mother with no education, no background, and who used her child to climb the social ladder would be
nothing but a stain on his future.”
She hangs up before I can respond.
Electra watches my face. “Talia, what is going on? Do not tell me Aires backed out again.”
“No.” I slip the phone back into my bag. “It was Mrs. Mildred Perseus. She said Aeson has a fever.”
Electra raises an eyebrow. “Seriously? Aeson has been getting fevers a lot lately, hasn’t he? Under your care, he had not been sick for ages.” She pauses. “Was not the last time he got fevers this often before he turned three?”
My face darkens. “Staying up late all the time. Eating junk food. Ignoring his lactose intolerance and still gorging on sweets and cold drinks despite having a weak stomach.” My eyes turn icy. “With habits like that, it is no wonder his health is acting up.”
Electra studies my expression carefully. “Look, Aires is trash. I get that. But Aeson is your song. Can you really let him go?”

Electra follows my gaze and gasps. “It is Aires! He actually showed up!”
Then she sees the two people trailing behind him. Her expression shifts. “Isn’t that Nick and Imema? Why did they tag along?”
I watch them draw closer. “Maybe they are here to celebrate.”
Aires soon approaches, his handsome face calm and unreadable. “Did you bring everything?”
I hold up the folder. “All the documents are ready.”
His eyes turn sharp. “That is not what I meant.”
I glance at Imema behind him and smile. “Ms. Volkov’s medication… I brought that too.” I take the bag from Electra’s hand. “Once the paperwork is done and the final payment clears, the same meds are yours.”
I have brought the entire course of treatment for Imema. Ready to exchange it for payment. No loose ends. No
broken promises.

I lower my gaze to the woman standing before me. Today, Talia is here in a fiery red dress that makes her flawless/ skin stand out.
The material is soft and moulds itself around her delicate
figure, making it look even more striking.
In all the six years of our marriage, she has rarely worn such bold, eye-catching colors. Even though her features might be more beautiful than Imema, she always seemed dull and unremarkable in my eyes, always keeping herself shabby and ungroomed.
But lately, I have been noticing something different.
She doesn’t quite resemble the timid and dull wife I was stuck with. She has become vibrant and stunning, like a blank canvas suddenly painted in vivid hues.
I try to look away, but my eyes refuse to follow my command.

still… some feelings there.
Besides, we have a child together. I want Aeson to have a whole family, not a broken one like my own childhood. But I’m not sure where Talia has acquired this new sense of stubbornness.
Come to think of it, I guess I know why she’s so determined to leave. Imema has always been a thorn in her side, as she has been jealous of her since the day she stepped foot in the country.
But it’s not like I have no choice. Imema’s life is hanging in the balance, and I already owe her too much.
My marriage simply cannot outweigh her survival. As for Talia, she can never truly leave me if I do not want her to. After all, we have Aeson between us.
For now, I will let her cool off and reflect on her bad
behaviour. Once Imema’s situation is handled, there will
still be time to win her back.
I always manage to find a way with her. After all, she is Aeson’s mother, and for that, I am willing to give her another chance.

promises. I will support your career just like I said…”
Before I can finish, Nick interrupts, his voice anxious. “Alpha! You’re being way too kind, much more than she deserves. This cheap woman has been using your name to lie and cheat people! She has cost you so much already!/ If you do not divorce her now, she will only keep milking you for more!”
Talia glances at Nick and smiles faintly. “Mr. Thorne is absolutely right. I never realized how thrilling it could be to shop without paying, just because I am Mrs. Perseus.”
She takes a few steps forward until she stands right before me. “Nick, do you recognize this dress?”
She smooths the fabric with a causal caress of her hand. “It is the showstopper piece designed by your company’s top designer, for the latest Autumn Collection. It’s yet to drop in the market, that’s why, this one piece alone cost nearly ten million dollars.”
