Electra’s POV

The auction winds down. Talia bids on two more items after the necklace. She raises her paddle, and no one dares to compete. The room goes quiet. The items end up costing her even less than the starting prices. No demand for them at all.

Nick does not dare challenge her anymore. He already blew his budget. If he gets taken advantage of again, not even Aires can

save him.

Talia knows when to stop. She gives others a chance, refraining from placing further bids. Aires and Nick have clearly realized that with her deliberately targeting them, bidding against her is either a lost cause or a chance to get scammed. They stop bidding altogether.

After the auction, I still feel like I am in a dream. “Talia, you really dared to go head-to-head with Aires.” I look at her, shaking my head. “Aren’t you worried he will come after you again?”

I shift my tone. “Though… they were way out of line. Kicking us out of the hotel…” I shake my head. “It is not a bad idea to show them we are not to be messed with.”

Raymond looks up, surprised. “You got kicked out of the hotel?”

I smile. “Thanks, Mr. Capaldi, but no need. I plan to go house-hunting tomorrow–‘

Before I can finish, Talia speaks up first. “Thanks, Mr. Capaldi. We will take you up on that offer.”

I blink. We have so much money. Buying a few houses is no big deal. Why bother staying at Raymond’s place? Then I realize. It is to get under Aires’s skin. So he does not think Talia is just some desperate housewife with no options.

Raymond casually picks up the auction items Talia won and chuckles. “Mr. Carter would probably feel better knowing Nick spent all that money on useless things.” He grins. “That should bring him some comfort.”

Talia does not deny it. Raymond sees through her intentions. She glances over at Nick, walking out of the auction hall, his face clouded with anger. “Since he will not compensate Mr. Carter, then let him pay in other ways.” Her voice is calm. “When you live a life like his, you always have to pay back eventually.”

I cannot help but admire her. Spending hundreds of millions of dollars just to get some payback for Jack…?

Now that’s really impressive.

Nick’s POV

Damn it! This Talia really screwed me over!

I stare at the painting I overpaid for, wishing I could tear it up. But if I do, I have no way to explain it to my father. I sigh, running a hand through my hair. “Alpha, she has been spending your money like crazy, and now she is taking things from us too.” I shake my head. “She really has some nerve. When can we freeze her assets so she cannot keep playing this game?”

Aires glances at me. “I am divorced from Talia.” His voice is flat. “Do you really think it is that easy to freeze someone’s assets?”

After he is gone, Imema asks, “Nick, did not you say you were going to frame her for something? How is that going?” She leans closer. “If the charges against Talia are proven, all her assets will be confiscated and returned to Alpha.”

I scratch my head. “I asked a lawyer. It is not easy to just pin a crime on her.” I pause. “But I have already got people working on it. It should take a few more days.”

Imema relaxes a little. “Two or three days. I can wait.”

She can wait. But I cannot. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. “No.” I shake my head. “I cannot wait. I have to expose this woman. Make everyone see her true face!”

I pick up the phone and start using my connections. “She thinks she can mess with me? Doesn’t she know her place? Just because she has a billion dollars does not mean she can do whatever she wants.” My voice hardens. “I am going to teach her a lesson today. Show her what real power looks like!”

Ruining someone’s reputation is easy. But I am not foolish enough to spread vicious rumors. Talia is Aires’s ex-wife.

I speak coldly into the phone. “Leak the news that Talia offended both Alpha and me. Anyone who helps her is just going against

us.”

I let a sinister smile curl on my lips. “By the way… even if the report on Talia does not result in a conviction, if a journalist catches her entering or leaving a police station, no matter how much she denies it, those media outlets will spin it their way.”

I make a few more calls. Arrange things quickly. When I hang up, I feel lighter.

Imema looks at me. “Nick, didn’t you team up with Mr. Moore?”

“You mean Richard?” I wave dismissively. “He is too much of a nice guy for this kind of thing. He will never get involved.”

I lean back. “But it does not matter. With Alpha and me, we can handle it.”
