Alpha’s Discarded Luna
Chapter 183
Author’s POV
Talia raised an eyebrow in mock surprise. “Mr. Thorne, you really should not talk nonsense. This is just a fair competition. There is no trickery here.” She paused, her voice steady. “If I think something is worth it, I will bid high for it. If I do not, and it goes above my budget, I will just stop bidding.”
She tilted her head. “So by your logic, does that mean anyone who drops out after competing with you is malicious bidding?” A sly smile curved her lips. “Also, just so you know, I have won more auctions than Mr. Thorne/”
Nick fired back without thinking. “You can afford all that? Isn’t it just because men are buying it for you?!”
Raymond’s voice rang out, calm and lazy. “Mr. Thorne, not all women need a man to buy things for them.” He leaned back in his seat. “Everything Talia has bought, she paid for herself. It has nothing to do with me.” His gaze was steady. “You really should not make such assumptions, especially about women. The woman you look down on might be richer than you.”
The crowd’s opinion of Nick took a dive. Many women in the room began to appreciate Raymond more, while Nick’s reputation took a serious hit. People started whispering, their Jofees low but sharp.

“Isn’t this guy’s last name Thorne? He is so disrespectful to women. We really need to warn our friends to stay away from the Thorne family.”
“My mom is the real head of the group. If this guy keeps up with this attitude, I will tell her we cannot work with him.”
“My sister is about to go on a blind date with the Thorne Group’s heir next week. I will make sure she avoids him. If a guy is this rude, who knows what his family is like.”
Nick’s face turned red with embarrassment as the whispers grew louder. He quickly tried to explain. “You are misunderstanding me. That is not what I meant-
No one was listening anymore. Every look he got was filled with disdain. Even if some people realized he was just talking big, they still mocked him. What a fool. They would better stay away from him.
Imema’s voice broke through the tension. “Ms. Jackson, do you really have the money to buy this necklace?”
This time, Aires answered, not Talia. “Of course.” He fixed his eyes on Talia, his gaze intense. “She is not lying. Every thing she has bid on, she has paid for herself. After all…” His voice remained steady, but there was something almost reverent in the way he spoke. “She has a billion dollars at her disposal. She

can spend it however she wants.”
Talia did not deny it. Instead, she smiled and said, “So, Mr. Perseus, are you going to raise the bid again?”
Aires’s lips curled into a cool, almost cold smile. “Ms. Jackson, you are throwing money around like it is nothing. You are bound to win.” He inclined his head. “I yield.”
Talia chuckled lightly. “My budget is eight hundred million dollars. Are you going to keep raising the price, or do you want to wear me down?”
Aires’s voice was calm, like a quiet stream. “Then you will just stop bidding and leave me with nothing, right?” He met her eyes. “If you want it for eight hundred million, just raise the bid to that, and no one else will compete with you.”
Talia tilted her head slightly, her smile still playful. “But I would like to get a good deal too. If I can get it for four hundred million, why not?” She shrugged. “After all, my money did not grow on trees. If I save four hundred million, I can live pretty comfortably for the rest of my life.”
Imema’s eyes widened as she realized just how much money Talia had. Not long ago, Talia had blackmailed Aires for a billion dollars. The things she had just bought were worth o a hundred million, leaving her with more than eight hundred Billion to spend.

She had more than enough to keep up with them. And who knew? Maybe, once the price reached a certain point, she would stop bidding like she did with Nick, leaving them high and dry. Talia was not afraid to gamble, but they could not afford to take
that risk.

At that moment, Imema felt like she could tear Talia apart with her bare hands. Talia had taken back Serena’s necklace. And
now, she was even trying to steal Melody.
Noticing Imema’s hateful glare, Talia turned to look at her with a raised brow. “What is the matter, Ms. Volkov? Are you planning to raise your bid too?”
Imema forced a smile, clearly irritated. “No. If Ms. Jackson really wants it that badly, it is all yours.”
Talia’s lips curled into a slight smile. “Ms. Volkov, you are mistaken. This necklace is not something you are giving me. It is something I have earned with my own money.” She paused. “Unless you would rather not let me have it and we can just compete like equals?”
Imema clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms, but she felt no pain. That bitch was doing this on purpose. She wanted to humiliate her. The taste of blood filled her mouth as
rage boiled inside her.

Aires, clearly uncomfortable with the tension, spoke up. “Talia, you might want to tone it down a bit. Pushing too hard could backfire on you.”
Talia did not flinch. If anything, she was enjoying the moment. “Fine. I will just wait for the day it backfires,” she said, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.
Aires’s eyes darkened with cold intensity. He was not one to engage in petty arguments, but he shot Talia a look before falling silent.
A moment later, a staff member carefully placed Melody in front of Talia. If it fell, she could easily refuse it. Even just holding it made the staff nervous.
At that moment, all eyes were on Talia. Everyone was waiting to see if she would really go through with it or if she would back down after all her talk. If she really backed out now, what kind of punishment would she face? Everyone held their breath, waiting for the spectacle to unfold.
Even Imema could not help but glance at Talia, harboring a small, hopeful thought. What if Talia could not pay? Then Melody would still belong to her.
However, Talia completely disappointed everyone. Without hesitation, she pulled out her bank card and swiped it. A soft hoop echoed through the silent room as the transactio vent 5.37

through.
Everyone stared at Talia, stunned. She had actually paid four hundred million dollars. Before, many had thought she was just a big spender with nothing to back it up. But now, they could not help but admit it… Talia was truly a force to reckon with.
