Nick is quickly bailed out of jail. Thanks to me. The day he is released, I am the only one there to pick him up. My face is clouded with unease. Aires refused to help him. I had no choice but to turn to that person.

I really did not want to contact him. That person terrifies me. There are times I even think he might be mentally unstable. I keep my head down, staring at the earring in my palm. Panic rises in my chest. If he finds out the person he is looking at is not me, I am as good as dead. His methods are brutal. Toø terrifying to even imagine.

I know I am playing a dangerous game. I have to marry Aires quickly. If that crazy person finds the other earring and realizes I am lying to him, things will go horribly wrong. But the world is so vast. How could he possibly find someone? If it were that easy, he would have found her already.

Nick’s excited voice breaks through my thoughts. “Imema! Did not Aires say he would not help me get out?” His eyes are bright. “Did he change his mind?”

I remember why I got Nick out in the first place. “Nick, after everything that happened, Eleanor’s reputation has skyrocketed. She has already received several invitations to music

conferences.”

Nick waves a hand. “Imema, do you want to attend those music conferences too? It is easy. I can get you a few invitations as

well.”

I am speechless for a long moment. Nick has a sharp tongue, but his brain is not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

“Nick, it is not about needing invitations to music conferences.” I keep my voice steady. “What I am trying to say is that because of all this, Eleanor has gained a lot. Even Aires has taken a hit from her.” I pause. “If we want to deal with her in the future, it will be harder.”
