Chapter 243
Brianna’s POV
I stand in the middle of the ruined studio, my heart sinking with every passing second. The walls are covered in paint, red and black streaks running down like tears. Smashed musical equipment lies scattered across the floor, broken pieces of what used to be beautiful instruments. A piano bench is overturned, its legs snapped. Sheet music floats in puddles of paint, the notes bleeding into oblivion.
Electra stands in front of the destruction, her expression dark and grim. Her arms are crossed, her jaw tight. She has not said a word since we walked in.
I have just completed my onboarding process. I signed the papers, thinking my luck had finally turned around.
୮
Seeing the mess before me, I feel equally unpleasant. Guilt gnaws at my stomach. Hesitation coils in my chest.
My voice is low, barely audible. “Maybe I should find another job.”
For the past few weeks, I have hit dead ends everywhere I went. Rejection after rejection. Door after door slammed in my face. It took so much effort to finally land a job I truly wanted, something that used my skills, something that made me feel

alive.
If I lose this opportunity, I might have to settle for playing the piano in a restaurant. Background music for people who are not listening. Tips thrown carelessly into a jar.
I was on the verge of giving up when I met Talia and Electra. They saw something in me. They gave me a chance.
I thought my luck had finally turned around.
But now…
The studio has been vandalized. Paint everywhere. Equipment destroyed beyond repair. This is not random mischief. This is not kids playing a prank. This is clearly an act of revenge.
My mind drifts to my ex-boyfriend. That shameless man is capable of anything. He blacklisted me in Jayport City. He made sure no one would hire me. Is it so hard to believe he would
follow me here and ruin this too?
Electra waves a hand dismissively, though her face remains troubled. “Let us wait for Lena to get here first.” She glances around at the destruction. “This might not even be related to you.”
About half an hour later, the door opens. Talia walks in.

Chapter 243
Talia’s POV
Monday morning. I had just dropped Robin off at kindergarten. He waved goodbye to me from the classroom door, his small hand fluttering. I was walking back to my car when my phone
rang.
Electra’s voice was sharp, urgent. “Lena, bad news! Someone threw paint all over our studio!”
I stopped walking. The morning sun felt suddenly colder. I remained silent for a few seconds, processing the information.
“I understand.” My voice was calm, controlled. “I am coming
over now.”
୮
I walk into the studio and stop in the doorway. The destruction is worse than I imagined. The walls are streaked with paint. Equipment is shattered. My practice room, my sanctuary, looks like a war zone.
I turn to Electra. “What about the other two floors?”
Electra shakes her head. “The outside walls and doors were
hit with paint, but nothing inside was touched.” She gestures around us. “Only our floor was completely wrecked.”

I nod slowly. I do not look surprised. I do not look angry. The pieces are already falling into place.
“So, this was aimed at me.
Brianna hesitates, her voice uncertain. “Ms. Green, could this…
be because of me?”
I shake my head. “No. If it were someone you offended, Electra and I would have received warnings not to hire you first.” I gesture around the room. “But this time, only our floor was specifically targeted, while the other two remained intact. That makes it clear.” I meet her eyes. “This was a personal attack
against me.’
As for who would come after me, the answer is obvious. Just a few days ago, Nick and Imema showed up at the studio, demanding to take it. Nick’s arrogance. Imema’s entitlement. This kind of crude, aggressive tactic has Nick’s name written all
over it.
୮
Electra frowns, her brow furrowed. “But why only trash our floor?” She gestures vaguely. “Why not the whole building?”
I reply flatly, “Because they still want this studio. If they destroyed the entire place, they would not be able to use it afterward.”
Elegtra huffs in frustration, throwing her hands up. “What i$5:25

Imema’s problem?” She paces back and forth. “You and Aires are divorced. Why is she still making trouble for us?” She shakes her head. “Is she really that clueless, or is she just pretending? Instead of keeping her distance, she keeps throwing herself in our way.”
She lets out a cold laugh. “Maybe they just want to make sure Aires never forgets you.”
I ignore the comment. I walk toward the entrance and glance up at the surveillance cameras mounted near the ceiling. “Did you check the footage?”
Electra’s expression darkens again. “I did.” She crosses her arms. “The cameras were destroyed.”
“That is fine.” I walk toward a corner of the room and allow myself a small smile. “The ones inside are still running.”
Electra blinks in surprise. Her mouth falls open. “We have cameras inside?” She looks around, searching. “Since when?”
I pull out my phone and open the security feed. The screen lights up with multiple camera angles, each one showing a different part of the studio.
“The day Nick and Imema came here, I installed a few hidden
cameras.”

Electra stares at me, stunned. “Lena, you saw this coming?”
I remain calm, scrolling through the footage. “We angered Nick pretty badly that day. With his personality, did you really think he would not retaliate?”
Electra is speechless. She shakes her head slowly. “Nick is such an idiot.” She sighs. “I do not even know what to say.”
I review the footage carefully. Four people broke into the studio. They are disguised, wearing masks and hoods, making it impossible to see their faces. They move quickly, deliberately, spreading paint and smashing equipment.
Electra frowns as she watches over my shoulder. “They are too well covered…” She sighs. “Even if we hand this to the police, how will they find them?”
୮
I remain unfazed. My eyes track one figure in particular, studying his movements. “They might have hidden their faces, but with the police’s investigative skills, tracking them down will not be hard.”
I point at one of the figures in the video, a man in a hoodie who walks with a distinctive swagger. “Electra, do not you think this one looks a bit like Nick?”
Electra leans in, scrutinizing the footage. Her eyes narrow. She watches the way the figure moves, the way he carries himself5:25

“Now that you mention it, yeah…” She nods slowly. “Especially the way he walks.”
No matter how much someone tries to disguise themselves, their habitual movements are difficult to hide. A gait. A posture. The way someone stands when they think no one is watching.
And someone like Nick, a spoiled rich playboy, has plenty of recognizable bad habits. The way he swaggers. The way he throws his weight around. The way he gestures when he gives
orders.
Electra has met Nick a few times before. She has watched him strut into rooms and demand attention. She can tell it is him.
She shakes her head in disbelief. “If he wanted to send people to trash the place, why would he come himself?”
I smile. “Because he wanted to see my reaction.” I set my phone down. “He wanted to watch me fall apart.”
I pause, letting the words settle.
“Too bad for him. I am not falling.”
