Chapter 133
Elsa
The lights in the Twin Moon Hall suddenly went dark, plunging the
entire space into eerie blackness. My heart rate instantly spiked, and
I instinctively pressed my back against the nearest wall, my
fingernails digging into the textured wallpaper. Fuck, fuck, fuck. This
was exactly what I’d been dreading.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” a smooth feminine voice announced from the
stage, “welcome to our traditional Inter–Pack Interaction Game!”
A spotlight illuminated a tall woman in silver robes – clearly from the
Moon Shadow pack – standing center stage with a gleaming smile that
didn’t reach her eyes. My throat constricted as I watched her, a sick
feeling spreading through my gut like poison.
“Tonight, we’ll be playing ‘Find Your Mate.‘ The rules are simple:
you’ll have ten minutes to interact freely with anyone you encounter,”
My stomach dropped like I’d swallowed a block of ice. Holy shit. This
was it – the beginning of the mate exchange I’d been dreading. My
palms grew slick with sweat as I desperately searched for Drake in the
dimly lit hall, my eyes darting frantically from face to face. The
shifting bodies and mingling scents made it impossible to locate him.

Chapter 133
Where the hell was he when I actually needed him?
A server approached with a neutral–colored blindfold. “All
participants must wear one, miss,” he said firmly.
Just before putting it on, I made one last desperate scan for Drake,
hoping he’d swoop in and claim me before this nightmare began. My
chest tightened with each passing second. But he was nowhere to be
seen. That bastard – where the hell was he? With a shaky breath that
came out more like a whimper, I slipped the blindfold over my eyes,
plunging myself into complete darkness.
The sounds around me intensified – nervous laughter, hushed
whispers, the rustle of clothing as bodies moved through the space. I
pressed myself against the wall and began sliding sideways, hoping to
reach a corner where I could hide. My fingers traced the textured
wallpaper as I inched along, flinching at every sound that came too
close. My heart was pounding so hard I could hear the blood rushing
in my ears.
Suddenly, strong fingers wrapped around my wrist, yanking me away
from the wall. I gasped, nearly choking on my own breath as I was
pulled against a solid chest, a distinctly male scent filling my nostrils.
Not Drake – this scent was different, though vaguely familiar. The
man’s hold was firm but not painful, assertive but not cruel. Still,
panic clawed at my insides like a trapped animal.

“Please,” I whispered, my voice breaking with fear, “don’t do this. I
already have someone.” The admission felt strange on my tongue, but
I was desperate enough to claim Drake as protection. My free hand
balled into a fist, ready to strike if necessary.
The man didn’t respond, but his grip on my wrist remained steady. I
could feel his breath on my hair, calm and measured. Another set of
footsteps approached, accompanied by a heavy scent of alcohol and
arousal that made my skin crawl and my stomach heave.
“This one’s unattached?” a slurred male voice asked.
My protector shifted, placing his body between me and the newcomer.
“No,” he said simply, his voice low and warning. The other man
grunted in disappointment but moved away.
My legs trembled beneath me, threatening to give out from the surge
of adrenaline. “Who the fuck are you?” I whispered, tilting my head
up though I couldn’t see through my blindfold. “Do I know you? Just
tell me, goddamnit.”
He didn’t answer, just gently guided me along the perimeter of the
room. My teeth worried at my lower lip until I tasted blood. All
