Chapter 206
Elsa
The meeting that followed was tense but professional. I focused on
the documents before me, aware of Drake’s gaze burning into me
whenever he thought I wasn’t looking. By the time we concluded, my
nerves were frayed from the constant tension, my head pounding
with a stress headache.
As we prepared to leave, Susan stumbled on the stairs, crying out in
pain. “Shit! I think I twisted my ankle,” she grimaced, leaning heavily
against her brother.
“I’ll take her to the medical office,” Allen said, concern evident in his
voice. “Elsa, will you be alright finishing up here?”
I nodded, gathering the remaining papers with slightly trembling
hands. “Go ahead, I’ll meet you both at the hotel later.” The thought
of being alone made my stomach clench, but I forced a reassuring
smile.
After they left, I sat alone in the meeting room, organizing the files,
trying to ignore how my pulse raced with anxiety. The click of the
door lock made me freeze, my blood turning to ice.

Drake stood there, his tall frame blocking the exit, eyes gleaming with dangerous intent. Before I could react, he crossed the room in three
long strides, lifted me bodily from my chair, and set me on the
conference table.
“Eager to run back to Moonlight, are you?” he growled, hands planted on either side of me, caging me in. “Getting quite close to him, aren’t
you?”
“This has nothing to do with Allen,‘ I snapped, hating how my heart
raced from his proximity, how my skin flushed with unwanted heat.
It’s about completing our work and returning to normal operations,
you controlling asshole.”
Drake leaned closer, his scent enveloping me like a physical force.
“What if I said the normal operations require you to remain here? If I
needed you to oversee the entire construction process… two, maybe
three years on site?”
I glared at him, disbelief and anger churning in my stomach like acid.
“Would you abandon your career and life for someone else’s
convenience, Drake? My voice rose with each word, my chest heaving
with emotion.
His eyes hardened to chips of amber ice. “That situation would never
arise for me.”

“Because you’re an Alpha?” I scoffed, my lip curling in disgust. “Or
because you’re a fucking Stone?”
“Both,” he replied without hesitation. “For ten years, what exactly
have I treated you as, Elsa? Company property? A convenient toy?”
My hands curled into fists, nails biting into my palms painfully. “Our
relationship has never been equal. You’ve made that abundantly
clear.” My voice shook with rage. “Ten years of being your goddamn
puppet.”
Drake’s mouth curved into a cruel smile. “In the real world, there is no
equality. Only those who lead and those who follow.” His hand
gripped my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze. “For the company, I’d
sell out my own family. Your duty is to obey.”
His mouth crashed down on mine in a punishing kiss. I remained
rigid, refusing to respond, then bit down hard on his lower lip. The
metallic taste of blood flooded my mouth, and I felt a savage
satisfaction as he jerked back.
Drake pulled back, tongue swiping at the blood on his lip, his
expression darkening to something dangerous that made my instincts
scream for me to run. “Forgotten who you are, little omega? Or do you
think you can escape me now?”

The threat in his words made my blood run cold, but I refused to
show fear, even as my heart hammered against my ribs.
I stood there, my face burning hot and breathing ragged like I’d run a
damn marathon, golden hair falling in wild tangles around my
shoulders. My fingers trembled with barely contained rage as I
clenched and unclenched my fists.
Despite the chaos of the moment, I felt a strange power rising within
me–a defiance that burned in my chest like wildfire.
Drake’s eyes narrowed, that predatory gleam intensifying as he
stalked toward me. Without warning, he wrapped his arms around me,
yanking me against his chest with such force it knocked the breath
from my lungs.
“You think you can just leave with him?” he growled, his mouth
moving to my neck. His teeth scraped against my skin, not quite
breaking it but leaving no doubt about his intentions. A claiming. A
