Chapter 208
Drake
I spotted Allen standing by the hotel’s front desk, his shoulders tense as he spoke with the receptionist. Luke was beside him, both of them engrossed in conversation. I approached silently, my jaw clenching at the sight of Allen–the man who’d been getting too close to what was
mine,
“-she’s resting now. The fall was pretty bad, Allen was saying,
rubbing the back of his neck.
How serious are her injuries?” Luke asked, genuine concern in his
voice.
Allen sighed. “Just scrapes on her hand and knee. Nothing major, but
she’s embarrassed about the whole thing.”
I cleared my throat, making my presence known. Both men turned,
Allen’s expression immediately closing off when he saw me. His scent
changed subtly a hint of territorial aggression that made my
stir. Luke, ever the diplomatic one, offered a nod of ackno

“Stone,” he said, his tone carefully neutral.

Chapter 208
“Is Susan alright?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest, not
because I particularly cared about Allen’s sister, but because
information was always valuable.
Allen’s jaw tightened, a muscle visibly twitching. “She’ll be fine. Just a
minor accident.”
Luke checked his watch before adding, “You should probably keep her
away from the village tomorrow. We’ll have police escorts with us to
ensure everything remains… civil.”
The implication wasn’t lost on me. Samuel and his people were still a
threat, especially to someone as helpless as Susan. Not that I gave a
damn about her safety, but incidents would complicate the project.
The receptionist interrupted, “Mr. Moonlight, your food delivery has
arrived.” She gestured to several bags on the counter. “And Ms. Hale’s
package from the pharmacy is here as well.”
My attention snapped to a small white bag set apart from the food
containers. Without hesitation, I reached for it, feeling a surge of
possessive satisfaction as my fingers closed around the package.
“I’ll take this to Elsa,” I said, deliberately tearing open the sealed bag,
my eyes challenging Allen to stop me.

Allen stepped forward, his chest puffing up. “That’s her private
property. You’re invading her privacy.”
I raised an eyebrow, continuing to examine the contents, a smirk
playing at the corners of my mouth. The morning–after pill was there,
along with a pregnancy test kit. Exactly what I expected. I held up the
items, watching Allen’s expression shift from annoyance to
embarrassment.
“Perhaps you’d like to deliver these to her?” I suggested, my voice
deliberately casual as I dangled the items before him. “Since you’re so
concerned about her welfare.”
Luke’s eyes widened. “Drake, come on. That’s crossing a line.”
I ignored him, extending the items toward Allen, who reluctantly
took them, his face flushed with anger, hands trembling slightly.
“This is inappropriate,” Allen muttered, carefully placing the items
back in the bag.
“What’s inappropriate is you thinking you have any fucking say in her
personal matters,” I replied coldly, stepping into his personal space.
Luke placed a hand on my shoulder, which I immediately shrugged off
with a growl. “Let’s go outside,” he suggested firmly.

I followed Luke to the hotel entrance, aware of Allen’s glare burning into my back, the scent of his anger trailing behind us like smoke.
“What the hell was that about?” Luke demanded once we were alone,
his voice low but furious. “You’re treating her like she’s your property,
not a person with dignity and rights.”
I smiled thinly, my eyes flashing gold for a moment. “She’s my
assistant before. Everything about her is my business.”
“Is that what you tell yourself?” Luke shook his head in disgust. “She’s
a person, Drake. Not an object you can control.”
“Are you finished with the lecture?” I asked, pulling out my phone to
check my messages, my thumb pressing the screen with unnecessary
force. “Because I have actual business to attend to.”
Luke stared at me for a long moment before walking away, his
disappointment evident. I watched him go, unmoved. He’d never
understood what it meant to be an Alpha, to protect what was yours
by any means necessary.
And Elsa, whether she liked it or not, was mine.

Chapter 208
The soft knock on my door startled me from my troubled thoughts. I’d
been sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at the wall, trying to
process everything that had happened in the past twenty–four hours.
Drake’s ultimatum. My mother’s treatment. The mysterious pregnant
woman with Miranda Stone.
I opened the door to find Allen standing there, his expression
strained. In his hands was a small white pharmacy bag that had
clearly been opened, the top torn carelessly.
My stomach dropped like a stone as I recognized what it was. All the
blood drained from my face, my lungs suddenly struggling for air.
Fuck. No. No. No.
“These came for you,” Allen said awkwardly, extending the bag. “I’m
sorry, but… Drake got to them first.”
The humiliation was so complete I could barely breathe. My fingers
shook violently as I took the bag, the paper crinkling loudly in the
silence. I couldn’t meet Allen’s eyes, my cheeks burning with shame.
“Thank you,” I managed, my voice barely audible, throat tight with
unshed tears.
Allen shifted his weight, clearly uncomfortable. “Elsa, if you need

“I’m fine,” I cut him off sharply, then immediately regretted my tone.
