Chapter 228
His eyes darkened dangerously, but he didn’t argue. Instead, he rose
and walked to the bathroom, leaving me standing there in just a
towel, angry and helpless.
I grabbed my phone with shaking fingers and quickly checked flight
information, muttering curses under my breath. There was a flight to
Twin Moon City departing in two hours–just enough time to reach
the airport. I booked a ticket and texted Olivia to let her know I’d
arrive that evening, my thumb slipping twice on the screen from pure
adrenaline.
Taylor arrived as promised, bringing a simple but appropriate outfit-
a black skirt and white blouse, along with necessary undergarments.
When I prepared to leave the room, Drake was dressed and apparently
ready to accompany me. My jaw clenched so hard I thought my teeth
might crack.
“I don’t need you following me,” I said coldly, shouldering past him
and nearly running into the door. “This is my family business.”
“This isn’t up for discussion, Elsa.” His tone left no room for
argument. “I’m coming with you to Twin Moon City.”

I lacked the energy to fight him, my entire body vibrating with
urgency. “Whatever,” I spat, yanking the door open. “Just don’t get in
my fucking way.” Time was critical, and Oliver’s condition was my
primary concern. I just wanted to reach the hospital quickly,
understand what had happened, and ensure my cousin was alright.
Outside the hotel, the city was deep in morning rush hour. The taxi
line stretched far down the sidewalk, and rideshare apps showed long
wait times due to high demand. I stood in the crowd, feeling a wave of
desperation crash over me. “Come on, come on,” I muttered,
refreshing the app repeatedly. Every minute of delay increased my
anxiety, and tears began to blur my vision. I wiped them away angrily
with the back of my hand.
A black sedan pulled up in front of me, and the window lowered to
reveal Drake’s stern face.
“Get in,” he commanded. “Don’t waste time.”
I wanted to refuse on principle, to tell him to go to hell, but
practicality won out. I quickly slipped into the car, and as soon as the
door closed, the driver pulled away from the hotel.
