Chapter 229
Elsa
Outside the airport, a black sedan waited–obviously arranged by
Drake. I had no time to argue and got in directly, slamming the door
with more force than necessary.
“To Moonlight Law Firm,” I told the driver, my voice tight with
tension. “In the Moon Shadow Tower downtown.”

Drake raised an eyebrow but didn’t object. He sat beside me,
maintaining silence, for which I felt unexpectedly grateful.
Moonlight Law Firm occupied the 20th floor of Moon Shadow Tower,
the building illuminated even at this late hour. We took the elevator
up, my foot tapping impatiently the entire ride, and Olivia was
waiting for us in the reception area.
She wore a gray suit, looking tired but professional. When she saw
Drake, her eyes widened slightly, but she quickly regained composure.
“Elsa,” she embraced me, then nodded respectfully to Drake. “Mr.
Stone, I didn’t expect you to come as well.”

“How is he?” I asked urgently, my fingers digging into Olivia’s arms,
ignoring her surprise at Drake’s presence.
Olivia led us into a conference room and closed the door. “Oliver’s
right leg was broken. He needs surgery and long–term rehabilitation.
The doctors say he might have a permanent limp.”
A wave of dizziness hit me, and I had to grip the table for support, my
knees threatening to give way. “Jesus Christ,” I breathed, feeling like
I’d been punched in the stomach. “Why? Who would do this to him?”
“A man named Clark, from the Moon Shadow pack,” Olivia’s voice
became grave. “But it’s more complicated. Clark is also in the
hospital, in a coma. Oliver claims self–defense, but the situation
doesn’t look that straightforward.”
Drake tensed beside me, his Alpha aura intensifying like a sudden
pressure change in the room. “Clark?” he repeated the name with an
undertone I couldn’t quite interpret.
“Yes, a small–time thug from Moon Shadow,” Olivia answered, then
turned to me. “The police want to question him, but I’ve advised
Oliver not to say anything without a lawyer present.”
“I need to see him,” I said firmly, pushing away from the table and
pacing the room like a caged animal. “Now.”

Olivia nodded. “I’ve arranged it. The hospital knows you’re coming.”
She paused. “But, Elsa, this isn’t just an ordinary fight. This could
escalate into an issue between the packs.”
Drake emitted an almost imperceptible growl: “If someone from
Moon Shadow harmed a Black Obsidian member, they will answer for
it.”
I turned to Drake, surprised by his reaction, my eyebrows shooting up.
While Oliver was a Black Obsidian member, he wasn’t part of a core
family–not someone who should attract an Alpha’s attention.
“Let’s go to the hospital,” I said, struggling to stay calm, my hands
balling into fists at my sides. “We’ll decide what to do next after
understanding the situation.”
Olivia drove us to the hospital. The entire way, my heart raced,
terrible thoughts flashing through my mind. I chewed my fingernails
until one bled, barely noticing the pain. Would Oliver be disabled?
Would he be arrested for this incident? Would this intensify the
conflict between the packs?
Moonlight Central Hospital was Twin Moon City’s finest medical
facility, jointly managed by both packs. When we arrived, the
corridors were still busy with medical staff hurrying about.

Oliver’s room was on the third floor, with a police officer standing
guard. As we approached, he straightened but visibly tensed upon
recognizing Drake.
