Chapter 20
“Last night, you left after she fell asleep. She woke up in the middle of the night and didn’t see you. She cried the whole night and kept asking me why she couldn’t live with her father like other pups did.”
“Lucian, for the past five years in another pack, Willow has endured too much hardship and suffered too many grievances. I love her so much that I acted impulsively this morning…”
“Things are different now. I will take good care of you and your daughter.” Lucian’s voice slowed down.
“Lucian, I’m sorry. I won’t do it anymore. I know you are concerned about Grandma’s condition, and I will patiently wait. I will work hard to win the first prize in this design competition and make your father approve of
our bond.”
“Good.” Lucian responded with a low voice.
Not receiving the expected promise, Ayla clenched her fist.
In Ravenswood Apartments.
I went straight to the secondary room when I got home.
Aurora’s ashes were placed in this room.
I walked over and gently touched the urn. My gaze fell upon my daughter’s photo next to the urn, filled with affection. She was so beautiful, well–behaved, and adorable.
But her life stopped forever this year. My eyes turned red. I promised in a hoarse voice, “Baby, Mom will try my
best.”
I would do my best to win the design competition in order to buy a grave for my beloved baby.
In this way, my baby would be born into a happy family in her next life, instead of having a mother like me and suffering from all the grievances.
I registered late, and there was only one spot left for the competition.
I stayed up all night to finish the design draft and submitted it before the deadline.
A day later, I received a phone call from the organizer of the competition, asking me to come to The Bloodstone Altar at 2 p.m. to compete with the other eight contestants who had already been approved for the final spot.
In the afternoon, I was afraid that I couldn’t make it on time, so I left home two hours earlier.
On my way, I saw that fancy car again, parked in front of the Bloodstone Altar. That was Lucian’s car.
The car door opened, and Lucian got out of the car. He walked to the back seat, bent down, and gently carried Willow, who was sitting in the child seat, out of the car.
The little girl softly wrapped her arms around Lucian’s neck and sweetly smiled at him, saying, “Thank you, Dad. I love you the most.”
Ayla stood by them in a coquettish manner, pretending to be jealous, “What about Mom?”
