Chapter 21
Avias smile deepened, her gaze softening as she looked at her daughter
She seized the opportunity and approached.
Lucian held Willow in his arms. As she leaned in, they were incredibly close. So close that she could even feeldus
breath on her face.
Ayla’s face flushed, and she shyly glanced at Lucian.
My heart pounded. It felt like my eyes were doing the talking.
The air between them crackled with tension. This scene drew a lot of attention.
Lucian, the Alpha of the Ironfang Pack, the most influential pack, rarely appeared in public. That was why no one recognized him here. But his handsome features and striking physique, combined with the luxury car beside him were enough to attract all the females.
Handsome and wealthy–everyone’s dream Alpha.
And the three of them looked like a picture–perfect family.
Almost everyone envied Ayla for having a handsome, wealthy, and devoted mate, an Alpha mate.
Ayla basked in the envious stares, glancing meaningfully in my direction.
She saw me watching her and Lucian. The smirk on her lips widened.
From the moment I appeared, Ayla had her eyes on me. But then, her smile froze.
As I drew closer, she saw the design draft in my hand. Me, here, with a design draft.
It was obvious: I was here to compete for the final spot in the design competition.
I wasn’t on the list yesterday. Ayla had specifically checked. Only seven people were competing in the final round. And those seven were far inferior to her. She was confident of victory.
But now, I was here. Five years ago, Ayla and I had both entered The Ironwood Institute as the top two students in
our majors.
I was first.
She was second.
One place behind, but the difference between us was vast.
