Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 141

Chapter 141

“Yeah,” I nod. “It was a bit of a hustle getting up to mount Thione, even shifting didn’t help, I might have tumbled once or twice.”

Her gaze shifts, and she stares me up and down. “Are you hurt?”

“No,” I half-truthfully say, touching my shoulders. I did get a few scratches, but they’re nothing. Rowan got a real cut trying to pull the biggest stone from the ground. “You were right about the stones,” I blurt out, trying to divert her watchful gaze. “The moonstones there are unreal, the elders love them, but I couldn’t say where I attained them to avoid them raiding the place.”

She nods, toying with a makeup brush. “That’s nice.”

“It’s perfect, we found enough pieces to cover the inauguration altar without sapphire. Thank you.”

“I didn’t do anything, you found them.”

“Yes,” I say. “But without your guidance, I wouldn’t have landed on those gems. So you did more than you think, our altar will not only be sanctified but beautiful, thanks to you.”

She smiles, her cheeks flushing right before she turns to the mirror again and grabs her lipstick? No, not lipstick, that thing with a tiny brush inside it, the one that makes her lashes look even fuller than they are. “Seems like the academy lacked in geology lessons, because Mount Thione has been known to be of great resources, on the other side of the hill, right below it used to have the biggest diamonds you’d ever seen. Everything has there since before the pack even claimed the territory.”

“Aren’t you the genius,” I mutter to myself.

No one retains information like her, her smarts put me to shame. She is easily the smartest person I’ve ever come across, but more than often, she chooses to bury that side of her and what a shame it is. I’m always fascinated by everything that comes out of her mouth, but her parents had her believe she’s prettier and more tolerable when her mouth is shut.

I don’t expect her to hear me, but she does, and she softly laughs. “Sometimes,” she says, a smile lingering on her lips. “But in this case, I’m just good at reading rocks.”

“You’re good at a lot of things,” I say, my words shifting the atmosphere. She stares at the mirror, her body tensing. “How did you know about Mount Thione?” I ask, the place is roughly six hours away from the Hartley

residence.

“Oh,” she swallows. “I-” She pauses, letting out a sigh of relief when interrupted by her ringing phone.

She hastily reaches for the device, “My Noah.” She says, pressing to her ear and continuing her makeup. I don’t miss the wide smile on her lips as she listens to Noah talk on the other end.

That used to be us,

Before I went away and she let us fall apart. We were closer than she is with Noah. She used to tell me everything, I was the first to know anything important, the first person she would come to for advice, the first she would cry to, and it seems like I’m nothing. I’m her mate, but that title makes me mourn the one I previously held.

“Really?” Aeliana laughs, “Okay, you can pick me up in the next thirty minutes, I’ll be done with makeup.” She says, pausing to listen to something that Noah says. “Yeah, that’s fine. Let’s match…. Yeah, later my honey, kisses.” She says, blowing a kiss before she sets her phone down and grabbing ger lipstick.

“Was that Noah?” I stupidly ask, not knowing how else to start the conversation. She hums in answer, “Are you
