The afterparty is everything I expected, everything that Kingston’s Mom and I planned for years. Except I’m not by his side today.

Everyone’s congratulating Kingston, and Aeliana. No one has thought of me once, no one has given a second glance or toasted me. And yet, I’m still here, smiling and acting like everything is okay. But it’s not. Aeliana doesn’t deserve anything she’s gotten, and she has the audacity not to be grateful for it. I’m irritated. My mom is telling me to get myself a nice boy and settle down. She’s telling me she can hook me up with someone better than Kingston, that she could find me another Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Healer-whoever I prefer.
