Chapter 24
AUDREY
Life is unfair.
I don’t see any reason as to why everything that I’ve spent years working hard for comes so easily to Aeliana. It’s not fair, I’ve been with Alpha Kingston for years, I’ve been with the pack, I’m the one who stayed while she ran.
The moon goddess must hate me, because every little thing I’ve ever wanted was given to Aeliana. For years, I’ve prayed for one thing, Alpha Kingston’s love. Yet, someone, Aeliana gets him? It’s not fair.
“Audrey?” Luna Estelle calls out. “Did you hear me?”
“Yes.” I nod, she just introduced me to three helpers, two of whom now reside here and will be tending to Aeliana’s every whim. “I will inform Danielle.”
“Good, I have a pending engagement so I will see you at the foundation tomorrow?”
“Umm,” I pause, looking for an excuse. I hate the foundation, Luna Estelle works me like a dog the whole time I’m there. And there are kids there, too many snotty sick kids. “I have a photoshoot tomorrow, it was short notice. But we can have dinner together.”
“No,” she shakes her head. “Those dinners have to end. I enjoy your company but having dinner with you so often will give the pack the wrong idea.”
The wrong idea? Is she kidding me?
“They already don’t like her, I don’t want them to think I’m impartial too, and more than that,” she pauses. “I can’t offend Aeliana.”
I’ve been so patient. I’ve played by all the rules, and the Moon Goddess rewarded me by giving my soulmate to a girl who doesn’t deserve him? Not just him but his family too. Luna Estelle and I were so close, she always put me above all her daughters-in-law inlaw but the second that Aeliana comes back? I get pushed aside.
“I understand,” I say, forcing a big smile while my hands ball into fists so tight I’m hurting myself.
Her smile widens and she pats my shoulder. “Of course you do, you’re such a darling.” She says, “I will see you later.” She says, leaving.
“Have a good day, Luna,” I call after her.
She waves.
Luna Estelle doesn’t wave at me, she hugs me hello and goodbye, but she didn’t hug me once. She focused on Aeliana and her pathetic attempt at being the victim. She hurt herself on purpose and roped Luna Estelle into doing her dirty work for her. I see what she’s doing, she wants to get closer to Kingston, to replace me but she won’t. Alpha Kingston loves me. She may replace me in his Mother’s eyes but she won’t replace me in the loving eyes of the pack, not even in Kingston’s bed.
Unlike his two-faced mother, he knows what’s best for him. My stomach twists at the possibility of him touching her and I fight hard not to drag myself upstairs to see what it is that they’re doing up there, they’ve been gone for what feels like forever and I’m stuck in the kitchen.
“Miss Audrey,” my assistant calls. “He’s still up there. I heard them talking, he is tending to her wound.”
My stomach twists with disgust. This is all Luna Estelle’s fault. Alpha Kingston should be here, tending to my

broken heart, not cleaning up intended wounds.
“She’s such a shameless attention whore.” Hannah sighs. “How dare she even come back here after everything that she has done?”
“Please, don’t speak ill of her. She’s the Luna now.” I tell Hannah. “Even if it’s just in theory, we still have to respect her.”
“Respect?” Diana snorts, “What the hell has she done to warrant that? The whole pack knows about her disgusting behaviour. If not for the bond then Alpha Kingston would have trashed her already.”
“God, I wish he would do it even now.” Tina says, “Did you guys see the way that she treated me out there?”
“Forget you,” Gina laughs, “She spoke to Alpha Kingston like he was her maid.”
“She has always been that way,” I sigh. “All she cares about is the title of being Luna and what she can do with it. You all saw how she exploited it firsthand. It’s just not fair.”
“You deserve to be Luna, Miss Audrey,” Tina says.
“I don’t even care about being Luna, it’s Kingston and the pack that I care for. She talks to him like he’s a servant, he deserves so much more and I just want him to have that even if it’s not from me.’
Diana shakes her head, “You are the right choice, Miss Audrey and if Alpha Kingston had a choice? He would have picked you.”
“Yes,” Gina seconds. “He already did when he rejected her at the party, I bet Gamma Hartley begged Alpha Dante to make Alpha Kingston marry her because no one would marry her, with a past like that? Come on.
“I hate her,” Sarah, one of the chefs joins the conversation. “She thinks she’s better than everyone.”
“I need some air,” I sigh, rising from my seat. “Tina, don’t bother with lunch. I’m not hungry anymore.” I say, walking out.
