It’s two in the morning when I decide to drag Seraphine out of her room. I haven’t been able to sleep since last night, I hadn’t seen Aeliana or Kingston and when I went downstairs, I saw Rowan sneaking into Noah’s room which means Aeliana isn’t in there like I thought.

I hate being out of the loop, and the excitement of what is happening in the north end has kept me up too. I can't wait to hear about the pack council meeting this morning, my father told me about it when we had dinner together last night. Aeliana has done it this time, the mini war is her fault, and I made sure to plant several ideas in my father’s head that will escalate the situation. The thought of what’s to come makes me laugh.

“What’s funny?” Seraphine asks, pulling me from my thoughts. “I just said nobody followed us.”

“Oh,” I nod. “Great, let’s get started.”

“On what?” She frowns, “You just asked me to pack an extra set of clothes…” she trails off. “Which I left on the bed.”

Of course, she left her change of clothes.

And now we’re too far from home to go back. This is why I have to do everything myself, my best friend is an idiot. “Take off your clothes.”

Her eyes widen, “What? Me?” She steps back. “Audrey I don’t—”

“For fucks sake,” I snarl, offended that she would even think like that. You like one girl and suddenly everyone is your type? Ugh. “I am not attracted to you, Sera. Take off your clothes.”

She shakes her head, “No. Your statements contradict each other.”

“You learned a new word,” I clap. “Cute, now take your clothes off, you might be attractive to some other closeted bisexual, but honey, you’re not my type, so unless you want to walk home naked, I suggest you take off your clothes.”

She starts with her shoes, mumbling something about not understanding and how cold it is like she can feel it. I light a cigarette while she strips, a habit I’ve picked up since Aeliana and Kingston became glued to each other. Brandon was my getaway, but since he was stupid enough to let her see his face, he died.

“Now what?” Sera blinks, staring at me.

I sigh.

“Brandon’s family will keep bothering you if you have it, and your family will go back and forth with theirs, it’ll be exhausting for them. Gamma Hartley is already mad at you for marrying a rapist, imagine how upset he will be if he has to fight Brandon’s family for the child?” I pause, “Actually, he won’t be bothered, but you’ll get attached to it and will be suffering all alone.”

“Fine, I’ll shift.” She huffs, getting on her knees. “I need to get Landon, Audrey, or this will have been all for nothing.”

I nod.

My brother isn’t exactly hard to get, he has liked Seraphine for a while now, only she was with Brandon at the time he finally noticed her and his fiancée isn’t exactly his type, so he’ll be easy to seduce.

I take a step back as she shifts, she doesn’t scream as I expected her to, and I almost doubt the tales about shifting causing loss until her wolf form emerges, grey fur shining just like her hair has been since she started taking those pregnancy medications. She whines softly, pacing in a tight circle, one paw pressing lightly against her belly. “Hey Mila,” I smile, reaching forward to pet her. “This will all be over soon, okay?”
