“Nothing to worry about, he’ll shift back soon enough,” Rowan tells me, but his eyes are on Jagger, wary and expectant. “He’s having an existential crisis like last time.”
“Last time?”
“Yeah, don’t you remember the last time he went AWOL?” His gaze finally lifts. “It was because he couldn’t shift back and we kept lying about his whereabouts.”
I do, in fact, recall that.
Kingston had been with me at my house, and in the morning, he snuck out so my Father wouldn’t see him upstairs with me. I tried to find him that afternoon, but he was nowhere to be seen, and when I finally came across Rowan and Maddox, they were alone. They often moved in threes, you’d rarely catch one without the other, so it was quite strange that he wasn’t with them, and they kept saying he was busy with something. “I know what it is,” I nod. It’s the same factors surrounding the situation again. Me. Injustice, I get it now. He ran from me at his lowest, and wherever he went, he lost the silent battle he seemed to have been fighting since the hospital. “I’ll help him.”
“Are you sure?” He frowns, “Because Maddox could fetch an antidote to weaken Jagger and have him shift form again.”
I don’t even want to consider that option, it irritates me the moment I hear it. It sounds so natural coming from him, and I know they must have done it before, but I’m not keen on it. “No, I don’t like being drugged. Why would I do that to him?”
“It’s not going to hurt him,” he confidently states. “And it’s the only way he’ll come back.” He tells me, his gaze worried now. This could go on for days, he isn’t in the right state of mind, and you know it can be permanent if-”
