Chapter 533

“I forgive you,” I nod. “Which is why I did you a favour,” I tell her, my gaze shifting to the water bottle that I’ve been sharing with her. Audrey mirrors my gaze, and when I smile, I see the panic set in.

“What did you do?”

I shrug.

I’ve done nothing, nothing that she wouldn’t do to me. What I did is tame compared to the hell I went through losing my baby. I had to shift until my baby couldn’t hang on any longer, and it’s haunted me. I wasn’t exactly looking to be a mom, but I wouldn’t have done it alone, I had money, my baby had grandparents who would have loved him enough to take care of him so I didn’t have to pause my life.

I watch as Audrey looks down slowly, her eyes widening when she sees the red stain on her white uniform. All colour drains from her face, and she screams, shoving her chair back from the table. “No, no. No!” She screams, “You fucking idiot!” Her breath catches, tears gleaming in the corner of her eye. “She’s pretending,” I sigh. “Provably ketchup,” I say with an eyeroll, and because the guards somewhat trust me around here, they don’t enter the dining hall, they keep to their stations, in the corners where they can’t see her.

I look down at her and shake my head. She continues to scream, but no one pays her any mind, and just like she watched me lose my baby, I watch her lose hers.

From the day I found out she was pregnant, I pretended I was ill, and they gave me painkillers. The day after, I exchanged one of the diamond earrings on my stack for some unknown pills. Knowing they weren’t poison was enough for me. I kept those, but they weren’t enough. I faked an allergy to the water, so now they give me bottled water and two nights ago, I made the guards bring me medication for my fake ulcer. It was an easy play. They were just trying to keep me from whining and so they made it happen. The doctor confirmed my prescription and they brought me the medication, one very well-known for causing abortions in the early stages of pregnancy, and I made sure to start administering it to Audrey instead. I started
