Chapter 67
Her head tilts, “Do you not?”
“I’d rather die than bring a child into this fucked up system you set up,” I swallow. “No child of mine will ever want for love, acceptance or anything. Now get out of my room before-”
“I can be anywhere. This is not your house.”
“And it isn’t yours either,” I counter. “This isn’t the Cole mansion, this is the house you got into by spreading not only your legs but lies too.’
“Wow.” Someone hisses.
Maddox appears from behind Audrey, holding a water bottle. His eyes shift between Audrey and me. She seems to smile when she sees him.
Fuck.
Why does this always happen to me? People seem to catch me standing my ground and misunderstanding things. And you can’t deny what they hear you say, you can’t explain either when it’s your word against someone they
trust.
“Maddox, Hi.” She beams. See fucking ecstatic to play the victim.
“Hello, Audrey.” He nods, eyes meeting mine. “Luna Aeliana.”
“Hi,” I sigh. Already tired of the story Audrey will weave from this. “If you’re here for her, then please proceed with haste.”
“I’m here for you.’
“Oh,” I frown. First time that anyone has come up here for me aside from Lexie, Elisabeth and Kingston, on the rare occasion.
Audrey leaves without me having to be asked, her hair bouncing as she leaves. I see why she thinks she lives in a movie, even her hair has that surreal effect. It’s freaking annoying.
“Is this a bad time?” He asks, staring a little uncomfortably. You seem to have been in the middle of…”
“Bullying Audrey?” I scoff.
“I’m not here to judge,” he smiles, extending his hands forward. “I’m here to give you this.”
I take the water and see-through bag of-I don’t know what it is that I’m staring at. “What’s this?” I frown, trying not to smell the liquid through the bag.
“A hangover remedy.”
“But I didn’t ask for it?” I frown.
“I know,” he nods. “I just like I knew you’d need it so I began preparing the herbs this morning and when Kingst –Alpha Kingston,” he corrects himself, as if he isn’t referring to an ex. “Came to request it, it was ready.”
My cheeks flush, “He asked you to give me a remedy?”
Maddox studied ancient medicine alongside modern medicine which is very rare, and Kingston is having him waste his talents by making me hangover cures? They sell hangover soups at malls.

Something about him asking her to do it makes me all warm inside. I could throw up again from how sweet that is.
“Yes. And I’m not allowed to leave until you’ve taken it,” he says, motioning to the bottle. “So just mix it with lukewarm water, swirl your glass a few times and drink.”
“Thank you,” I say with a slight smile. “You don’t have to stay. I’ll drink it.”
Maddox hisses, “See, that’s not how this works, Luna Aeliana.”
“Huh?”
“I like having all my body parts intact,” he tells me. So I should stay and make sure you drink it, or risk losing my ear because I would be short of hearing if I left without ensuring you took it.”
“Come on,” I shake my head. “Kingston isn’t like that. Did he morph into a tyrant when I was gone? That would be some insane growth.”
