Alpha’s STOLEN Mate

Chapter 167

Kalus

I sat alone on the raised platform-just a few steps higher than the main floor, but enough to establish hierarchy without being

ostentatious. Below me, arranged around the massive round table in carefully calculated positions, sat the most powerful Alphas in my

kingdom.

The seating was deliberate. The strongest, most influential Alphas occupied the chairs closest to my platform. And the closer they sat, the

more palpable their hostility became.

I could feel it radiating off them in waves-resentment, suspicion, barely contained challenge. They’d come because I’d commanded it. But

that didn’t mean they trusted me.

Good. Let them be angry. At least they’re here.

My eyes drifted to the empty seat beside me. The Queen’s chair. Positioned at my right hand, elevated to match my own status. For

Elowen.

Where the fuck was she? The Assembly was supposed to start minutes ago.

The Alphas’ murmuring grew louder, more restless. I caught fragments-speculation, questions, thinly veiled accusations about my

competence.

Finally, the guard at the door straightened. “My King! Your long-awaited Queen has-”

He stopped mid-sentence. Brief, muffled conversation-someone correcting him, insisting-

The guard cleared his throat, face flushed. “The Silver-Fanged, White Tempest, Alpha of The Misfit Alliance-Elowen Ravencrest-

has arrived!”

The room erupted. The Misfit Alliance? Silver-Fanged? White Tempest? Confusion rippled through the assembled Alphas like a physical

wave.

I had to bite my cheek to keep from laughing. I didn’t expect her to make an entrance like this. But the message was crystal clear: Elowen wasn’t just coming as my Queen. She was claiming her place as an Alpha in her own right.

The doors swung open.

Elowen strode in like she owned the fucking place. Silver hair pulled back in a high ponytail that emphasized her sharp features. Custom leather jacket hugging her frame perfectly, and emblazoned across the back in gold thread: The Misfit Alliance.

She looked powerful. Dangerous. Absolutely magnificent.

Behind her, Evelyn grinned like a maniac, practically bouncing, making exaggerated gestures that somehow perfectly amplified Elowen’s

entrance.

I stood immediately. “Elowen.” My voice came out softer than intended. I gestured to the empty seat. “Come. Sit here, beside me.”

I turned slightly to address the room. “This Alpha is also your Queen.”

Another wave of confused muttering. But Elowen didn’t hesitate. She walked past my platform entirely, grabbed a chair from the side, and

planted herself directly in the front row-across from me, not beside me.

What-

My smile froze. Fuck. She just publicly rejected my invitation. In front of every major Alpha in the kingdom.

Embarrassment hit like a slap. Dozens of eyes watching, waiting for my reaction.

Then Elowen looked up, her expression calm and unapologetic. “My King,” she said clearly, “today’s assembly is to discuss the crisis facing all our packs. To strategize against our enemies. This is not my coronation as Queen.”

She paused, letting that sink in. “Therefore, I will sit here-as Alpha of The Misfit Alliance-and participate in this meeting as an Alpha among Alphas. I cannot sit beside you today. That would send the wrong message.”

Oh. You brilliant, stubborn woman.

She wasn’t rejecting me. She was claiming her space, her identity, her authority separate from mine. And doing it publicly, dramatically, in

a way no one could misinterpret.

I let my expression shift to something amused. “Well!” I said loud enough for all to hear. “It seems all the packs have arrived. Let’s begin

this Assembly.”

I moved to the center of the platform. Time to get serious.

“Several months ago,” I began, “we encountered our first transformed wolf. A creature magically altered-enhanced beyond natural limits. We thought it was isolated.” I paused. “We were wrong. There’s a witch named Morgath-a Flesh-Weaver-who has been capturing our people. Transforming them. Using dark magic to turn wolves into her obedient weapons.”

The room had gone quiet. Several Alphas had gone pale.

“Recently, we located her laboratory. We confirmed that every wolf who has gone missing is being held prisoner there. Experimented on. Broken down and rebuilt according to her design.”

Then Garrett, a hot-headed young Alpha, shot to his feet. “With all due respect, Alpha King, we know people are disappearing. But we’ve never actually seen this witch. We’ve never witnessed her attacking.” He crossed his arms. “If she’s as powerful as you claim, why doesn’t she just attack us directly? Why all this sneaking around?”

Are you fucking kidding me right now?

Derick, an older Alpha, stood as well. “And these ‘transformed wolves’-I haven’t seen any evidence of them. Have any of you?” He looked

around. “How do we know these creatures even exist?”
